This is my 'secret' treat. It does not have Protein but i get plenty of protein in my food & Protein shake. I suppose one could add Protein powder if you don't get the Water too hot. It is a bit high in sodium for those watching their sodium. But it is so much cheaper than any Bariatric hot choc. It's about $4.00 for 26 servings.

Man! If you like seafood this is an awesome way to get your protein quota outta the way!!!! I buy a bag of frozen shrimp at Costco - 7 SHRIMP = 18g of PROTEIN and 100 calories! This is going to save my life cuz I am sick of those protein shakes! Granted I still have to do a protein shake but now I can cut one out of the day! YIPEEE. Just thought I'd share my excitement! :-) :-D :-P

My doctor told me my body is holding on to the fat because I'm not getting enough calories and my body thinks I'm starving. So I'm going up from 300 to 700 calories a day. But I'm finding it difficult. I don't know what I should eat. I've increased my calories but the weight is not coming off. I need to be sure everything I eat is healthy. I drink 2 premeir protein shakes a day. Then maybe a slice raisin bread in the morning. And at night to meet my calorie requirement I've been eating cup I noodles, tacos, and chimmicungas. I know they arnt good foods but I meet my protein and calorie requirements. So I'm thinking I need to measure the fat calories in foods. How many fat…

Helloooooooooo everyone! Yes it has been awhile since I was last here. I recently had my 18 month check up. When I told the nut what my daily diet consisted of her jaw hit the floor. All over me eating fruit. I was shocked. I do believe my weight may flucuate 2-5 pounds a month due to tom. I haven't gained any weight since being sleeved. My current weight is......139 pounds even. So I questioned her on why she would rather me NOT eat fresh fruit? Her reply was that my body will store the natural sugars as fat. Well, let me shed some light on this. When I did not incorperate fresh fruits and veges into my diet I was a slug. Meaning that I had no damn energy. Eating process…

What is the best/smallest thing you have chosen to eat for maximum Protein? I am 4 months out. I have lost just about 55 lbs (now normal weight) However, in the midst of all this I am also going through extreme family stress. 2 weeks ago hair started falling out in clumps. I know I'm not getting enough food and I have to force myself to eat every day (stress reaction). I was eating better before the stress so I know its' not the sleeve as far as quantity. I am finally able to eat chewable Vitamins (about 3 weeks now). I haven't tried taking Iron because I wasn't able to tolerate it before surgery. I cannot seem to tolerate any Protein Drink, Soup and never co…

Hi all, I am finally in my puree stage, I've been doing well on it, so far I've eaten, hummus, pureed white chicken chili, pureed peaches, and fat- free re-fried beans with fat-free cheese since the 12th of October plus my protein shakes. I average about 75 grams of protein with my shakes alone, but I have been just eating a tablespoon or less of pureed food each time I want to know how much should I eat? Because to day I did about 15 to 20 minutes of low impact exercise, twice today, where I was sweating, but afterward I felt hungry? Is this normal? Am I eating enough?

My surgery has been approved for 12/10/12, I have everything done and weigh 453, my doctor says I have to be at 419 or they will cancel. Is that even possible? I am rotating between no carb for 1 week and liquid for 2 weeks per doc orders. Any advice would be great.

Question for all of you a post-oppers... what does your nutritionist recommend for total calorie intake? I am not so worried about the first few months - I am under the impression that you couldn't take in a lot of calories even if you tried. But in the active losing phase, what are the total calories you strive for in day? What about in maintenance mode? Thanks for any info you can give!!

Hi there, I am making chicken tonight for my family (chicken legs with skin using shake n bake) and I just hit the puree stage. Do you think I could eat a leg (minus the skin) if I just cut the chicken super duper small? I don't really wanna puree it. Or does anyone have any idea how I could eat the leg? Dark meat tends to be more moist so I think it's moist enough? Thanks!

Ok so I'm post op 5 days and I'm on Clear liquids for 2 weeks. Im focusing on my Protein shakes since I really dont want to get weak/lose my hair etc. Im trying to get as close to the 80-100g of protein a day but so far the most I can intake is two 8oz Protein drinks which have 23g of protein each. Im taking nectar. I rarely drink Water by itself. I want to make a every sip count and since I can barely drink 16oz of liquids I'm not even adding broth, jellos or popsicles... But Im afraid im gonna get dehydrated if I don't drink more... has anyone had this problem??? Sent from my DROID RAZR using RNYTalk

I'm having difficulty with what to eat while I'm at work at night. I eat during the day and then I come to work and eat also. I bring healthy things to eat at work with me but I think it slows my weightloss. I usually lose about a lb or a half a lb a day when I don't work but when I work I don't lose. I work 12hr shifts so it's hard to be here that long and go without eating.

Hey all, I know that we all struggle with what to eat after surgery. I found this book to be really great. Its called "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" You can find it on Amazon. It is written specifically for LabBand, RNY and Switch surgeries but it can be used for sleeves as well. About 6 years ago my wife had RNY and we used a lot. I pulled it out when I got sleeved and we are looking at some really great recipes. You get specific instructions on what to eat during the different stages (puree, soft, normal). All the recipes are high protien, low fat and are very very good. If you look it up on Amazon, you can get some previews of what is in the book. …

Ok, my boyfriend and I are planning to get married soon. We have been going out for about 5 years and we have been living together for almost 2 years now. We love each other very much but we also have several practical considerations that makes it more financially beneficial for us to be married. He is from Honduras and has been living here for 15 years (he's not illegal - he has a work permit) and needs to have his status adjusted to get a green card. This is going to cost $4000 this year but in the long run it will mean that he can stay, work, pay taxes and become a citizen in 3 years. Then we can both work about 15 more years here and then get both get social secu…

I am on full liquids, which for me includes yogurt. So tonight to satisfy a sort of craving, I took a few teaspoons of plain Fage greek yogurt and mixed it with some taco sauce and taco seasoning. It was really good. I was just wondering if anyone else does that and if anyone thinks the sauce or seasoning would be a problem. I had no problems getting it down and felt satisfied. If any of you like that kinda stuff... it was REALLY yummy!

I have searched on the forums for an idea of what I should be eating around the 1 month post op period. But I haven't been able to find any.. Aside from my protein and fluid intake I will sometimes have a 1/4 cup of fat free refried beans. Or 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese. I also have greek yogurt, but I need more variety.. Anyone have any ideas?

Curious to know how long others are taking to eat. I am really struggling with this currently. I am almost two months out, which isn;t long at all but am having trouble. My NUT says each meal should take 30-45 minutes. I find when I am eating something like scrambled eggs, oatmeal, etc I am not taking nearly that long. Occasionally I will eat too fast and then feel it in my esophagus. Is anyone else out there struggling with this?
