Oh boy, I feel ya! I'm not even sleeved yet but I know how hard it is to decide what the hell to cook and eat. It's especially hard when you're not even hungry and NOTHING sounds good. Sorry I don't have any suggestions, but I hope you discover something soon to get you through this. Good luck! :)

I don't know how far out you are, but you sound like what was the "doldrums" as far as eating and food. I didn't have problems, but just had no interest in food. It was like, "why bother". Those are also the months when you lose the most weight, so that is the upside!

I personally found success by eating 4-5 small mini meals per day. Here are a few "meal" ideas:

- 4 or 5 ounces Greek yogurt

- 2-3 ounce of grilled chicken breast (maybe make a lettuce wrap!)

- 1/2 cup trim cottage cheese with some pineapple chunks

- beef or turkey Jerky

- chicken or tuna salad on lettuce or maybe a half sandwich

- deli meat and cheese slice

- AmyLu's chicken meatballs, even some of the sausages are good moderate calorie Protein choices. I buy them at costco

- egg and a thin slice of ham

I like this thread! I was circulating the same meals too, and a lot of times I feel the same way, why even bother to eat. Thanks for posting this, and thanks for the meal ideas :)

To add to the list, I also like to eat Kashi go lean Cereal in my Greek yogurt.

Hummus mixed with a crumbled boiled egg, season it so it's like egg salad, cause low-fat mayo is gross to me.

Turkey sausage and eggs

Weight Control oatmeal

Baked Tilapia with steamed green Beans

I too struggle with what to eat or at least the "variety" part of it.

I am 4 weeks out... what I have stocked in my fridge is this:

Greek Yogurt

String cheese

RF Colby Jack cheese sticks

tuna ( usually mixed with mustart or LF Mayo)

SF Popsicles

eggs (usually scrambled w/cheese and bits of ham)

Protein drinks

powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup

SF Jello

I'm at the point where I'd like something different. Cheese is probably my most FAVORITE thing to eat right now... it's so easy to eat and sits really well in my stomach. BUT I believe this probably isn't the best thing for me to be eating.

I would LOVE suggestions on variety and other things.....

I'm also about four weeks out (10/25 was my surgery date) and I'm a picky eater that wants variety.

Some things I've tried-

Fat-free cottage cheese w/ reduced-fat shredded cheese and MrsDash

Baked veggies with chicken stock (think meatless roast)

Tuna (canned) with Greek yogurt, a diced baby dill pickle, diced celery, diced carrot, and cracked pepper (the pickle and the veggies totaled a tbsp to my 3oz of tuna- I stored the leftover diced veggies for later use)

Oatmeal (the heart healthy, sugar-free kind from Quaker, Maple Brown sugar flavor) with Greek yogurt

Chicken (canned) with diced cucumber, Greek yogurt, and MrsDash

Tilapia with vegetables (red potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and mushrooms) topped with lemon slices and MrsDash then baked.

Fat-free refried Beans, reduced-fat Colby Jack cheese and Pace picante sauce topped with fat-free Greek yogurt

I hope this helps give you some ideas! And best of luck to you! :)

Reading OneWritersSoul I remember that I loved eating canned tuna mixed with low fat cottage cheese during that food stage. It really felt like "real food." It was filling and tasted SO good after all of that liquid stuff.

I feel the same way - first off, I have no desire to eat. My husband has to remind me to eat. Second, if I cook something, there is so much left over it seems so wasteful. I tend to eat the same stuff over and over. I do get depressed a bit. matter of fact, my husband and friend went out to dinner tonight - I passed because I knew I couldn't sit through watching them eat.....

I start stage 3 (soft foods/mushies) tomorrow. I have no clue what to eat. The only things I can think of are scrambled egg whites or egg beaters, tuna salad w/very little lite mayo, cottage cheese (already having this), part skim ricotta (just started having this), and soft cheeses. What else can I have? I am craving salt BADLY. I am totally sweets'd out b/c all the shakes are chocolate or vanilla, etc. I want a pickle. Do you think I will be able to have the inside of a pickle (minus the skin)? What else can I eat in this stage? HELP! Thanks!

I ate a baby dill pickle and drank some of the pickle juice. I'm sure it's an awful thing to confess that, but I'm simply being honest. It took me a bit to eat the pickle but I enjoyed every last tiny nibble!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
