I never In my life heard the Words Cottage Cheese used so much until I entered the Bariatric community. MY GOSH cottage cheese never was what I called a tasty cheesy treat lol. As time went on I see that cottage cheese packs a lot of protein and I have slowly started to enjoy whole Milk cottage cheese. How do you use cottage cheese? What are your recipes? Do you even like cottage cheese? lol it is an aquired taste for sure ??

My skin is breaking-out like a b***h I am used to my skin being a bit funny as I have PCOS, but I have proper broken out in spots all over my chin and one on my cheek and it is insane! Did anyone else's skin do this? I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet. Finding it much easier to manage now as everyone said! One mistake I have made though is only ordering one flavour soup I thought I would like, and it turns out that it just makes me gag now ?

It’s been 6 months - is it normal to still have a very strong restriction? I still can only eat small meals like crackers, soup and I hardly eat. I just had two hits of tofu and some bean sprouts and I am stuffed! I have lost all the weight now but worried I’m going to go the other way. I’m consuming 300-500 calories a day. Help?

Just looking for advice or recipes on making veggies more desirable. Seems that the veggies I do like are all the not recommended ones lol (potatoes, corn, peas). I'd like to do better at trying to eat the good stuff but am having a mental block on how to prepare them to make me more inclined to enjoy them. I just started my journey with a nutritionist and am doing my best to not be overwhelmed. She seemed really great, but we are only one appointment in, so I don't have as much to work with just yet.

I am just now starting the journey and trying to get used to dietary changes. The guidelines I was given them were very very broad in general, and I kind of like a more specific idea of what I need to change and what my calorie account should be in my macro should be, and that really wasn’t given to me so I’m struggling. Is there anyone who has any tips and tricks for dietary visions while I go through the approval process?

It seems like everyone I talk to has to follow some pre op diet. I just had my pre op appointment today and I asked if there is any liquid diet, or Nasty crap I have to drink and they said no. Has anyone else had not to follow a pre op diet? I obviously am not going to go out and eat McDonalds, but it just seems weird.

Hi All, I new to the forum and this is my first message of any sorts on this site. I am getting ready to have Gastric Bypass procedure on Oct 2 and I am currently on 4 week liquid diet. I have completed 1 week and 3 days of the 4 week diet so far. My questions for you all :- 1. Is eating pickle slices or cucumber slices considered cheating? I am asking this as the protein shakes I am taking are super sweet because of the artificial sweeteners. 2. Can I have tomato soup or tomato based broth ? In my pre-op instruction it doesn't mention anything related to it. 3. Will my doctor know that If I cheated with a pickle slices or 4-5 mini pretzels ? I …

tl;dr at the bottom I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery. I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313. I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to…

I just had my first appointment Oct. 31st at Tennova and they gave me a small packet for a 1200 calorie diet (pic included). I'm trying to figure out a meal plan but maybe I'm just confusing myself?? Any tips for working in an environment that loves to have tons of junk food? Here's just a small list of the food my coworker ate this week in our little office... New most stuffed oreos homemade brownies mcdonalds.. twice pizza hut donuts cupcakes homemade chicken queso dip with chips (in a crockpot on warm 5 feet from me the ENTIRE day) ? The four woman I directly work with know I'm having surgery in about 10 weeks and I'm really trying to change my eating habits. We all take lunch breaks but sometimes eat at our desks. This is truly showing me I can have the willpower to not indulge. I've lost around 18 pounds so f…

Hi everyone! I am brand new to bariatric surgery and have only just had my first consultation visit. I am concerned that my food allergies are going to prove this journey even more difficult than it would be without them. My 2 food allergies are dairy and any and all sunflower products (seeds, oils, lecithin, etc.) Does anyone else have "rare" food allergies and are coping just fine? Or is it actually going to be harder? My doctor says I should be okay because I will be working with the dietitian. I am just curious to see how others have been coping ?

So, I will be starting my pre-op diet in a little less than a month, but I wanted to test a few of the things in the plan to make sure my body reacts well to it. Usually what I do when I'm testing things, I've done this all my life to see if I'm intolerant to certain foods, is to water fast (fasting all food items other than pure water, no sweeteners or liquid calories) before I start just to wash my body clean. I decided to get on the scale to just see how things looked. I know logically I can gain fat if I don't eat those calories, but how did I gain 2lbs on a water fast? I'm so scared. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I haven't even started the pre-op diet yet. Can I…

I'm on day 4 post Balloon insertion. Seriously, i'm so bloated and uncomfortable that i can barely take a swig of something without having pain. Is this normal? How does one stay hydrated when you hurt so badly. I am taking all the correct meds but maybe i need some tips? How long can one go without enough calories?? Please excuse my ignorance. I know it says to try to get 64 oz of liquid a day but i'm nowhere near that and am wondering if that's also why i feel so bad. Anyone else have this same ache and bloat into the 4 day mark?

Hey everyone! I'm new here, but have been reading a lot of the posts. I just created my profile. My preop for surgery is next week and my surgery is scheduled in August. I'm in complete panic as I gained weight since this process started back in February. I'm worried the doctor and nutritionist will berate me or worse, kick me out of the program and deny my surgery. I'm also really stressing about this Pre-Op Diet. I don't know all the details yet about my specific diet, but I'm sure it will be very harsh. I have Fatty Liver Disease and my liver is incredibly inflamed. They are going to want me on the diet immediately after meeting with them and I just don't know if I can…

Tested negative for IgG (spike) four months post-J&J vaccination. Any potential explanations (aside from a deficient immune response)? Most explanations I have found have to do with nucleocapsid antibody testing can’t pick up spike protein antibodies Corona Antikörpertest IgG-Spike(not the test used here) or duration after vaccination (it’s been over four months). Thanks!

Okay, I talked to my nutritionist and I'm still confused all I want to know is how much sugar can I have before and after the gastric sleeve because she gave me a list of snacks and drinks like for example she put 2 1/3 of graham crackers but it has 8g of sugar and 8g included so 16g of sugar that's a lot then, she told me about the equate protein drinks but, that has 16g of sugar and 12g included, my question is how much sugar can I have because all those I listed are a lot of sugar and I DO NOT want to have any issues

Hi everyone! I am having surgery in exactly one week from today (Nov. 2) and I couldn't be more excited. However, I am one week in on my pre-op liquid diet and I am crashing... bad. I can't even stomach food anymore. I get approx. 300 calories a day from protein shakes, and even that leaves me nauseous. I feel super dizzy and exhausted all the time. I am so sick of broth and shakes! Any advice on new "liquid" foods to try? Or even how to manage this stage? So far I've had: broth, protein shakes/powder, skim milk, sugar-free jello, and baby food once (?). I know I will probably have to just tough it out, but it can't hurt to try to get some new meal ideas, right?…

I'm early in the process and trying to lose weight prior to surgery as my surgeon has asked me to do. I know I'm among friends here who know exactly how a mind like mine works. So I'd love to hear whatever tips you have that have worked for you, even temporarily, for this simple question... How do I stop obsessing about food? Even when I'm eating well, way too much of my time is spent wondering when I'll be able to eat again and thinking about that next meal. Right now I'm at work, focused on work, watching a show, and still, my mind every couple of minutes drifts off to my desire to eat. If anyone has any advice for this specific difficulty, I'd appreciate it. …

I'm so stressed out from the 6 months of surgery delays and waiting to get this process going, I wonder if it would all be easier if I just started my pre-op liquid diet now, a week early. Does anybody know if that's ok? a problem? safe? not safe? I'm just so sick of waiting and waiting.

Hi there! I hope some of you could enlighten me. I am potentially having surgery next year, and my bariatric nurse recommended I do the Liver Shrinkage DIet for 2 weeks to add favour to my referral to the surgeons. I am 9 days in and I have only lost 0.6kg (just over 1 pound). Prior to this, I was eating "normally"-carbs, and treats when appropriate as part of a normal lifestyle and I was losing around 2-3pounds a week (just under 1kg). I feel really deflated and feel like I won't hit my weight loss for the surgery referral, and that this diet is just not working. I've read other forums, and people have said they're losing 21 pounds in 2 weeks! I really d…

Hi, I just started with a Bariatric Center with the goal of gastric sleeve, and I'm confused enough it's frustrating. Had my first visit with surgeon, he told me that for my insurance, I should lose 10 lbs (no more without endangering my insurance).. Seems like it's five months until surgery, possibly six. I then attended a (no lies, pretty bad) online group nutritional presentation, that really skimmed over things like no caffeine and no carbonated bees, and was also informed that I had responsibilities to make ALL my pre op appointments myself, but I haven't been given any list of labs/tests to do so. I have no diet assigned... ? No instructions were specific about what…

So I’m still preop, surgery 1/11/2022. I’m starting to wonder about what to do with artificial sweeteners. I’ve found that they are a huge trigger for craving actual seeets and have tried to eliminate all from my diet. I know that once I’m on the liquid phase pre and post op they are unavoidable but I’m sure someone out there has minimized using them so I thought I’d ask. I’d like to not if I could possibly avoid them. Thanks for any advice
