I love seeing the progress people have made after surgery. So for those comfortable enough to share them I'd love to see your before and after (and even progress) pics. I haven't had surgery yet (and wont for at least another 3mths) so I don't have any to post but I still like seeing what I have to look forward to. The pic below is me at my highest of 316lbs 2hrs after my son was born.

Hello... I'm almost 2 weeks out and a little afraid I've maybe doing things wrong. Everything I keep seeing online tells me I should have been doing clear liquids for the first week. And I've been doing just normal liquids since like the 2nd day. Also I think I'vebeen drinking too much at a time too. I'm not sure I really know what I'm doing here like I thought I did. Help.

Hello. I am new to this community and my first post. I had my gastric bypass 2 1/2 yrs ago and I am still losing weight. I went in at 260 lbs and I now weigh 120 lbs and still losing. I WANT IT TO STOP!!!!! On January 27th 2026 I had to have major back surgery and they would not operate until I lost weight on my own. Good luck with that. This procedure was recommended by my PCP at that time. I said "Yes". My niece is a PA and thought I had gotten the band or sleeve. I told her no, I got the gastric bypass. She gasp! I said what is it? After she researchedher notes, she said one of the reasons she believes why I am not gaining weight is because when the doctor took of…

Up until last week I have never had any issues related to my bypass surgery. Three years later and 206 pounds lost. Last Monday I ate lunch like normal and had immense pain in my abdomen come on out of nowhere. Like level 9 (and I have a very high pain tolerance usually). I threw up from the pain but it really felt like bad gas mixed with really bad period cramps. Because of the kind of birth control I'm on I rarely have a period. I had not had one in about five months and I was on day three of an out of the ordinary cycle. I contributed the intense pain on my lunch not agreeing with me and giving me gas pains mixed with just horrible cramps. I was in the fetal position o…

Hey there, everyone, new member here, first post! Feel free to skip to paragraphs three and four for where I have my post surgical update, the first two are an intro as I am brand new here. My weight history is a long and varied one. If I were to write the condensed version, I'm genetically prone to obesity, thanks for those genetics, mom. On the one side of my family, individuals, unless highly active like my cousin when she played soccer, struggle with weight management. Apparently, those genetics decided they liked the party I was going to throw and joined the crew. As a kid I was heavier, but I was also one of the tall kids, until those genetics decided to leave th…

I am one week out from surgery. I had a large hiatal hernia removed, ulcers in esophagus repaired and a revision to my stomach pouch. The past few days my stomach has been a little itchy, now today it is a lot worse. The skin surrounding the incisions. I scratched all night and this morning I am miserable, the itching is worse. I took some Benadryl. I live in a very dry climate so I thought maybe it was dry skin, but lotion did not relieve it at all. Has anyone experienced anything like this? It is too early to call my surgeon’s office now, but come 0900 I will be on the phone to see if I can come in and see the NP.

Since losing weight I can obviously feel my bones and see some of them a lot more now...but OH MY GOD, my coccyx...guys! It hurts SO MUCH when I am sitting down even for short periods of time and I can just feel it there sticking out! Anyone else have this issue? What helped? My butt needs relief 😂

The hospital start me on crystal light but they give me on lemon and orange that make with upset stomach. I start with other flavors none the that lemon or orange in it. So what I did was I had one bottle of 8 oz with Crystal Light and the rest of water now what I did was of the 8 oz of Crystal Light I divided 2 oz for every 15 oz of water a plain water and than I would take another 2 oz of the Crystal Light and that's how I did it so it wouldn't be so bad or heavy on the my stomach.

This journey has been wild in the best way. I started this journey at 297 lbs. 1 year post-op: 165 lbs 2 years post-op: 175 lbs (with a breast augmentation) I had my VSG on 1/24/24, the day after I turned 35. At that point, I wasn’t happy with how I looked or how I felt. I was exhausted, uncomfortable in my body, and honestly… I wasn’t showing up as the best version of myself. My kids and husband weren’t getting the best version of me… and honestly, neither was I. So I chose to do the work. VSG has been an incredible tool. I consistently work out 5–6 days a week, combining cardio and weight training. I eat fairly well, with treats here and there… because we’re human and …

I have the understanding that everybody is results are different but questions as of when you do get to 4 to 6 week face what will you really allowed to eat and what bothered you, example spicy, sweet, bread, wraps, as opposed or even like guacamole just trying I do understand my my diet will change dramatically I'm just trying to get up understanding of Something's I've read if you eat bread you can't eat bread because it make it stuck and I'm not a bread eater unless I make a sandwich. So I'm just trying to get ahead and have, a clear understanding..

I had my bypass in 2018 to try to reverse my diabetes. Unfortunately even after reaching normal BMI I was still on insulin. I had a twisted bowel in 2019 and developed sepsis, after a year in hospital and 2 years of recovery I am much better. But recently my blood sugar levels keep dropping low. I have not changed my eating habits or exercise regime. Has anyone else years after surgery blood control changed.I have actually put on 6 lbs in the last 6 months so I know it's not because of excess weight loss. Any advise gratefully received. Thank you.

Hi All, I was wondering if anybody have the same thing as I am experiencing more than a month now post op. I eat very little everytime and chew my food well but after two spoonful of any soft food I feel like my stomach is already full and heavy like carrying 5 kg of weight in my stomach and I need to burp a couple of times which is hard to do in order to feel relieved. Is anyone experiencing this king of feeling? Thanks

I am one week post op VSG and just got advanced to purées. My first “meal” was 2 oz of cottage cheese and ricotta mixed together (2 oz total. 1 oz of each), and I followed the no drinking 30 mins before and after rule, ate slowly, and ate tiny bites but while eating my heart rate elevated and pounded. No tummy issues, just heart rate. Happened several hours later when I tried 2 oz triple zero Greek yogurt. Sooooo frustrating. Is it my vagus nerve?? It doesn’t feel like dumping syndrome.

I had gastric bypass in October 2021. I had a few episodes where I felt lightheaded. Until yesterday, I was able to recover and it would pass. Yesterday, I felt lightheaded and next thing I remember, I was on the floor. My son heard a something drop (turns out it was me). For clarification: I’m eating more than enough of the right foods and drinking plenty of water. I’m fine just wondering if anyone has experienced this.

I recently had my 5-year post-op follow-up. I haven't seen my actual surgeon in years; my follow-ups after year 2 have just been with his nurse. Before this appointment, I considered myself a WLS success story. I lost about 200 pounds from my highest weight and have maintained a healthy weight for years. I have completely overhauled my diet and developed healthy eating habits. All of my health markers like blood pressure, glucose, lipids, etc. are excellent, and I have gotten in great shape with both cardio and weight training. I weighed in at this appointment, fully clothed, at 144 pounds, which puts me at a BMI of 25.5, 4 pounds into the overweight range. I'm not …

I'm 8 weeks post op RNY bypass. I'm losing phenomenal weight. I've lost 2 pants sizes, down to a size 16 and they are not tight. My shirts hang. I know I'm smaller, but in the mirror I still see the same person. I feel like I look the same and I know I can't possibly. I don't have hanging skin that's swaying my eyes. I just don't know what up. I'm also disheartened because not one person has said anything and I'm sure that is contributing to my self view. I'm taking progress photos and I'm still just not able to see it in the photos. But I know it's drastic because my clothes hang on me. Is this normal?

All right ladies, I realize that I am not technically post op yet (or scheduled yet for that matter ?) but I am wondering about skin care post op. I’m not extremely worried about skin on my arms, legs, and stomach….yet but I am worried about my face. For those of you over 40, how has your face fared? I currently use Philosophy Microdelivery scrub to cleanse my face and I use a Philosophy anti aging moisturizer. I bought some Roc eye brightening cream that I’m not entirely convinced works. That’s it. What should I be using? What have you found helpful after surgery?

Also, veg & fruit purees are easy but I am worried about getting protein in. I prefer savoury food but worried I can't get meat in until the mincing stage? Op Friday, shopping today. Help plz.

Hey everyone! I just had my VSG surgery on September 23rd of this year. I'm still on my full liquid diet and have a post-op on October 9th with my Surgeon. I want to know if anyone has any experience with Biotin and Collagen pill/tablet brands. Youtheory is a Collagen and Biotin combo tablet and it's on sale at my Costco! I'm wondering whether or not I should buy a jar or buy a different brand? I will ask my Surgeon if this is something I can take with my other vitamins. I uploaded the ingredients via this photo. Any advice will help! Thank you so much <3

Hey everyone! I am currently reaching my two weeks post revision of gastric sleeve. Still on my liquid diet due to complications that occurred four days after surgery. Unfortunately I developed a small bowel obstruction which was painful beyond belief and needed yet another procedure immediately from the emergency room. It’s been a rough journey but I am pushing through. However, I did want to know if anyone else has experienced such complications or others after a revision?

HI all, So here’s a little WWYD… My husband and I are heading to Disneyland next week (we’re huge Disney fans) and it’s our very first trip going just us as adults. No kids, no stroller, no schedule just the two of us running wild in the parks for a couple of days. It’s Halloween time, so you know what that means… all the fun, delicious, not-so-healthy treats are everywhere. Last time we went with the kids, we walked around 9 miles in one day and that was at stroller pace. This time, we’ll be going full force all day long to do all the things we normally can’t when we have the kids with us. We’ll probably share most of our food, but I’m torn on whether I should track ever…

I have heard a couple people say that after certain foods they get the slimes. What exactly are the slimes? I think I got them today when eating an egg and just wanted to know for sure. For me what happened after the egg was I kept having to clear my throat and spit, and it was as if I was getting over a cold, like mucusy spit.

Okay so I am a year post and this was my first real experience with constipation ever beyond a day immediately after some of my surgeries. Well it’s induced by all the meds I’m on for something else I’m sure BUT, given that I produce so much more waste it backs up way faster than the doctors expect. I ended up at the emergency room and they were about to send me home because it hadn’t been that many days until the CT came back and I was so full that they had to admit me overnight so they could monitor me while taking round the clock laxatives to make me go. Much more than is typically considered safe. So that is my cautionary take to not wait too long and be certain they…

I was just wondering if anyone has been on or is currently taking the medication? I was on Zoloft for almost 1.5 years, and I am almost 2.5 years out from Bypass surgery. In that time, I have gained almost 40lbs since my lowest weight. I was taken off the Zoloft because of my concern of the weight gain and how fast it had been making the scale go up in the last few months. I have been on Wellbutrin the entire time and have had no issues. While on Zoloft I felt hungry all the time, I constantly wanted to eat, and my libido went to crap. I had an appointment with my provider and the took me off the Zoloft like I mentioned and increased my Wellbutrin. I was told to follow…

Today is one week since I had the sleeve surgery. At the hospital I got very intermittent sleep with the nurses taking vitals and giving meds, but at home I am having difficulty too. I was just wondering if this is somewhat common or am I the lucky one? i do have depression and anxiety issues and take medication for it but I have been awake as late as 4am trying to just sleep. I did call my MH doc today and get an ok for a bump in my anxiety meds at bedtime and I am hoping that will help. I tend to get some increased gas pains after I lay down and just can't "shut off." My post op appointment is in a couple of days, but was looking for answers here too. THANKS!

Hey guys, The last few days have been super hard I just want to eat all the time I feel so empty! I know its mainly head hunger and at nearly 8 weeks out it is my mind fighting against the changes I have made. I miss eating more! I have had slight cravings for junk food lately but I will not eat it because I know it will do me absolutely no good and it will make me worse off. I haven't eaten any of it since before my surgery and have no plans to in the future. As a recovering food addict a little bite would be a massive trigger to eat way too much and I can't deal with that. I know I have been addicted to food pretty much my whole life but I honestly didn't…

Hi guys I didn't realise how obsessed with food I was until now! Head hunger is the worst for me and I am very always having to push it away! I eat 3 small half cup meals a day, I get in at least 70g of protein and at least 2 litres of fluid. A lot of it is due to my old bad habits like sitting in front of the TV, looking in shops for nice food, going out for the day. It was all focussed on what I would eat! Does it get any better? What was it like for you? Are you still going through this? Thank you!

So I take Wellbutrin and after surgery I am supposed to crush it and take it with applesauce. I guess for better absorption. It tastes soooo nasty! I gag and can hardly get it down. I have been taking it whole, but I asked the pharmacist today if I really need to crush it and yes is the answer. Tried tonight with protein pudding ? what do y’all do? thanks!!

Hi guys, I've been very up and down with my emotions on this journey I have taken only 6 weeks ago. I am struggling mentally with intrusive food thoughts and I am coming to terms with just how serious a problem I had around food and still do, its early days. I know many of you have been through the same struggles emotionally. I was just looking for your experiences to reassure me that I'm not alone in this and that things will get better. I don't regret having the sleeve because I am feeling so much better health wise, I'm just struggling! I don't eat or crave junk food anymore, I just miss eating and my mind is telling me I'm hungry when I know I'm not! Tha…

Well here we are, 6 months in from sleeve surgery. Wow were did that half year go! I have lost a total of 20kg (44 lbs) which is a lot less than I thought I would have lost at this point. I am 25kgs (55lbs) to goal. so not even half the weight I wanted to lose. Whilst it is a bit of a disappointment, I am still thrilled with the loss, with how clothes fit now! I have lost a lot of inches! gone from an Aust/UK size 20 to a 16 or even 14 in some brands! (US size 16-10) this blows my mind! ??? I had been on a stall for 6 or so weeks, and just last week loss kicked off again -Sloooooowly. ? If I am honest, I have not done as much as I could to help weight …
