My doctor said one thing?‍??

  • Popular Post
So my doctor told me that I would stop at 150pounds being that my starting weight was 217. I am now 140 pounds while I’m not complaining. I’m praying that I don’t go any lower. I hope all is well with everyone.

Looking fabulous.

I am surprised a doctor would tell you how your body will stop at a particular weight, mine just mentioned a target but said not to put pressure on myself to reach it as my body would do the work with me. Everyone's body will react differently and find its own rhythm and adjust for the changes in movement, diet etc.

I went down to 61.5kg / 135lbs and panicked a bit as I felt I looked terrible, really gaunt and tired in the face, but over the last couple of months I have gone back up a few kg to bounce between 64kg and 65kg (141lb & 143lbs) and feel and look much better for it. Your body, and your mind, will find it's healthy place soon enough I am sure.

Yes, i think that happens a lot we get really thin looking and then the muscle and fat redistributes and bounces back a little.

My doctor said 66kg is a reasonable goal and i would continue to lose for 12 months.but didn't say much else about where I would end up. I'm ten months port op today and kind of panicking because I have about two month before the year work and I'm nowhere near that so I hope he's wrongthat I will only lose for 12months.

I wouldn’t worry yet @NeonRaven8919. Many of us continue to lose until the 18 month to 2 years marks. As long as you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose. It may be very slowly but that’s okay because it’s all about how you’re equally slowly increasing your intake until you get to the point of maintaining the weight your body likes. Maybe your doctor meant you’d lose most of your weight in the first 12 months because of that increase in calories & weight loss slow down.

Yes, everything seems to resettle after your weight stabilises. I found it was about 2 or so months after I realised I looked better in the face and also went back to having an hourglass shape again. Mind you the ratio was smaller lol but I definitely had a waist again after being more straight up and down once I lost most of my weight.

as others have said, the weight does seem to redistribute and you start to look less gaunt (although I think you look great now!). Also, don't forget that it's very common to have a 10-20 lb regain during year 3 - so I wouldn't get too worried if your weight continues to drop a bit. I thought that regain would never happen to me - but it did!
