Liquids (stage 1)

Recipes for clear liquids and full liquids for Post-Bariatric Surgery Patients.

  1. I'm a full day post op and am on full liquids (after one day of clear liquids pre-op). I'm not a very savory person in general so I see a lot of yogurt and kefir in my future. I wanted to share some great products I've found helpful. And hopefully get some recommendations Bare Bones broth packets - I add half a bouillon cube for more intense flavour. The convenience of having a packet is super easy. Ryse Clear protein drinks - My favourites are kool-aid fruit punch and country time lemonade. They are both palatable room temp or cold. Clean Simple Eats - Toffee and Snickerdoodle are my favourite flavors. Milk with FairLife for higher protein content. If you're not ready t…

I found this recipe in complete bariatric cookbook and meal plan. Thank goodness because I can’t do those sweet shakes no mo. Green Machine Protein Shake. It’s lightly tart and tangy. I taste the green apple essence and it’s creamy. Yum!

  3. Started by Reigo,

This really isn't a recipe but it was good, thought I would share specially for those on full liquids. Campbell's as a Thai tomato coconut bisque but it's a little fattening but I love Thai flavors and really wanted to try it so I bought a regular tomato Soup and cut down the Thai one by mixing about 50/50 with reg tomato and it was really delicious filled with plenty of the good Thai flavor and cut down the cals and fat. Also Target carries an organic roasted red pepper tomato soup that only has 110 cals and 2 grams of fat and is also crazy good!

  4. I can drink water, cream soup, broth, have had jello— but day 11 and 12 im trying to have protein shake and it feels like a rock and lingers a long time.. any suggestions? I have got to get in more protein.

I am three days PO and completely forgot I couldn't handle water like I used to. I was extremely parched and gulped about four to five ounces of water. I didn't vomit, but there was definitely pain that has lingered a bit. Now I'm worried about a leak. Have I already ruined my new tool? Sent from my SM-G970U using BariatricPal mobile app

Even pre-op and most of my life for the last 2 years (thanks to paleo low carb eating) I avoid bananas like the plague but I think in small increments they're nutritionally dense and easy on the tummy. I know people love them so I figured this would be a great recipe to share. This felt awesome on my Day 13 post op tummy. 1/2 banana 1/2 C. VANILLA GREEK YOGURT (I used 2 Good) A dash of nutmeg A dash of cinnamon 1/3 C. Fair Life Fat Free Milk 1/3 C. I make a shake and get all of my Premeir Protein in first thing. I use half a chocolate and half a vanilla proein shake. You can use what ever you want. But that is 30 grams. I add a scoop of unflavored whey protein 18 grams. and a scoop of multi collagen protein 9 grams and half a tub of what ever flavor of Triple Zero yogart 8 grams with some crushed ice and blend it. That is a 65 gram protein shake and I could and will drink one of these every day from now on. It is delicious to me. Give it a try.

I am three weeks out from gastric sleeve and I’m so bored with the protein drinks. Soft diet for one more week, and I have to keep drinking them until I can get all my protein from food. Saw this somewhere and it is so good. I don’t even like coffee. Try it: 2 shots of espresso in a venti cup of ice, pour in your favorite protein drink. (Mine was Starbucks but what ever will do I’m sure).

I made some homemade sugar free popsicles today that are actually really good. I got the cheapo popsicle molds from WinCo (grocery store for those not in the USA) and some sugar free Jello. I made the jello a bit stronger than the directions called for. (3 cups total instead of 4), filled the molds with it and froze them. They turned out great. They're soft, like sorbet, and still only 12 calories per bar.

Update: ok so I drank my 11oz of Premier Protein Carmel and it was goooooood. BUT!!! It took me roughly from 1pm till almost 8pm to do it. On week too where I get mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt and pudding. I did the math so bare with me. I have averaged getting up around 10-11am since hubby has been home all week. If I’m up at 11am, I have to drink FOUR oz of water per hour which means, 11am sip, sip, sip. 11:15 am, sip, sip, sip. 11:30am sip, sip, sip. You see where km going with this. I’d have to stay up till about 3am to get in the 64oz they want us to get in????? Even if I get up at 8am, I’d be up till about 1am. HOW IS THIS RIGHT? And I’ve thrown…

So as WLS patients this time of year can be so so so hard on the ones that LOVE everything pumpkin. But it doesn't have to be! This morning I dug out a can of pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) and added three tablespoons to my protein shake. I also added pumpkin pie seasoning and two stevias. All with two scoops of baritatric advantage vanilla and a cup of almondmilk with 5 ice cubes. Heaven!! I will use the can for making my own Greek yogurt pumpkin as well, same premise! Happy Pumpkin Season everyone!!

Here's a quick easy, yummy high protein drink (because I'm struggling to get all mine in at almost 2wks post-op) Water bottle 16.9 or 20 oz 1.5 pkg of Crystal light Fruit Punch Your favorite vanilla protein drink 1 scoop Unflavored protein powder (I use Isopure) Add protein powder, 1 pkg of Crystal light to water bottle and mix Add more Crystal light for sweetness/taste if needed Add abt 3 fluid ounce of the vanilla protein, shake and tweak it until you get a fruit punch, vanilla ice cream flavor. Dilute with water if it comes out too sweet Should come out abt the consistency of a party punch (minus the ginger ale or 7-up) Enjoy...simple, quick, high protein
