I made this today using one scoop of unflavored protein (19g), 1 packet of fat-free sugar free cocoa (1g) and 1 tablespoon of powered peanut butter (2.5g) mixed with 1 cup of skim milk. (8g). Blended it and set it in the freezer for 2 mins. Very tasty shake with 30+ grams of protein.

Now that I am over four months out I can tolerate Protein shakes much better. For the first four months I was choking them down because they were just too sweet for me. I've been experimenting with different flavors and started making an Espresso Protein shake two days ago. I make one for me and one for my husband each morning. We love them. I did check with both my surgeon's office and my NUT to make sure that the Espresso Powder was not going to be an issue and they told me it was fine, but not to drink more than one a day. I must say that this tastes like an ice cream shake to me. It's simply delicious. 1 cup chocolate Unsweetend Almond Milk (I use Blue Diamon…

Hey, I discovered a new recipe in my rush to work this AM. Raspberry Cheesecake Protein Shake: 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder (I used creamy vanilla by pure protein) 1 tsp sugar free raspberry Jello powder 1 cap full almond extract (about 1/2 tsp.) 8 oz. skim milk Mix it together thoroughly. I think this would be great with other flavors such as peach jello too!

I was playing around over the weekend, trying to find some uses for the Protein powder. I took 1/3 cup strong de-caf coffee, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 4 ice cubes. Threw it all in my Ninja and, voila, I loved it and so did the kids (they had to "test" mine first).

I have finally found the best Protein shake. I've been experimenting with making different shake recipes. I made this one for my morning shake today and I loved it! 214 Calories (which is fine for me as I try to get 200 for breakfast) 18 carbs (same as above, the majority of my carbs come in the morning) 3 grams fat 32 grams Protein 49 grams of Calcium (this is big for me!) 14 grams of sugar - a little high but the sugar is mostly from the fruit and yogurt 1/2 cup Unsweetened Coconut Milk 1/4 cup Non-Fat Greek Yogurt (I used Chobani) 1 scoop chocolate Protein Powder (I used unjury Chocolate Splendor) 4 small Strawberries, halved 2 T. Torani sugar-free Vanil…

OK...I have been ordering all sorts of sample packets and bags trying to find a flavor I actually enjoy. I really love this one...it tastes exactly like nestle quick strawberry milkshake. I use 8 oz. Of Almond Breeze milk ( its sugar free fat free soy free and lactose free) use the vanilla flavor unsweetened at 40 cals per cup, and mix a scoop of the Nectar strawberry mousse and blend with a few fresh strawberry bits and top with sugar free fat free cool whip! Yummy! What a great dessert surprise at the end of the day when I was behind on my protein! This is a keeper. =)

I love coffee. LOVE coffee. I don't drink it all day, but I do have 1-2 cups per day. Has anyone been able to drink coffee after VSG? My surgery date is 7/26. I know I will have to give it up for awhile, I am just curious about what other people have experienced.

I've been reading about so many folks having issues with getting their Protein in each day. One of the main resources for protein are protein shakes especially in the beginning stages so I thought...why not share recipes with each other strictly for shakes! We all start getting tired of the same ole' same ole shakes so why not share how you make your shake extra special or tolerable So lets keep this thread strictly for shake recipes so we can make it an easy resource for everyone. Remember to put in the measurements and name brands of protein powder/liquid you used and where you bought them if we can't get them at the local store. Here are a few of mine: Almond Jo…

Hate all the pre packaged proteins, so I use crystal light raspberry lemonade mixed with GNC's unflavored whey powder, for me it never gets old! I sometimes use the powder as a thickener for soups, chilis and creamer in coffee. All the best to you on your journey 8/24/2010 404lbs pre-RNY 177lbs Today

For a change, try mixing you protein powder with sugar free kool aid and ice in the blender. Some combinations I find tasty are: chocolate with raspberry ice, strawberry, and cherry vanilla with just about any flavor, but especially orange sunrise (tastes like a dreamsicle)

So my husband went out last night and got me an ice cream maker knowing that I wanted to try eggface's recipe. After the artic zone nastiness I knew I could do better. I followed her recipe and used my kitchen ninja to whip it up to double the size and it came out FANTASTIC !!! I made carmel mocha and even my husband liked it. The great thing is that the whole recipe has 52 grams of Protein in it and will probally get 2-4 servings out of it. I cant wait till I am able to try fruity ones and add chunks to it Recipe name Number of servings Serves people Ingredients Calories Carbs Fat Protein smoothie Ki…

I posted this originally in response to a question about ice cream, then decided it really should be here. It's an ice cream substitute that's good for those who can have whole fruits. All it takes is a food processor, but an ice cream maker would be great to give it a better consistency. 2-3 large, very ripe/black bananas Good-quality cocoa to-taste 1 teaspoon vanilla Sweetener to-taste (optional) Leave the bananas until they're very black but not rotten, to ensure that they're as sweet as possible. Peel them, cut them into 3-4 pieces each, place on a cookie sheet and freeze solid. Add the frozen bananas to the food processor 1/2 at a time, blending until they'r…

So I ordered an ice cream maker to make Protein ice cream from the egg face website, and while I await that my dad made a new creation I thought I'd share. I'm currently on full liquids 2 tspns low fat sour cream 3 tblspns fat free whipped topping Mix and freeze We had some frozen strawberries we packaged ourselves. He was letting some thaw for him and we used some of the natural juices strained out. Maybe like a teaspoon if that. I couldn't get through the whole thing but mm it was delicious. The best part is that right when it hits it tongue it instantly melts. Hope u enjoy

I am 3 months out and to be honest, shakes get boring. I love fall time because it means Thanksgiving foods! Or pumpkin pie... ohhh purrr! If you crave that comforting taste / smell of pumpkin pie during fall, why not try a pumpkin Protein shake. Yumm-O! 1/3 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/3 cup milk
1 dash of vanilla 2 packets Splenda
Cinnamon (to taste)
Nutmeg (to taste)
1 scoop vanilla Protein powder ice My friend used coffee creamer to make her shake extra thick - not good for those of us watching our carbs. Super tasty shake…

Still on the liquid phase of post-op. I did not like any of the chocolate Protein shakes on the maket, so I decided to make my own. I also don't like the idea of drinking anything that is non-perishable and has been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long. All have way too many chemicals and flavorings that are not natural. Yuk!! My recipe has a total of 215 calories with 25 grams of protein. 1 cup Fat-free milk (80 calories) - you could also use Almond, Rice, or Soy milk if you prefer high quality unsweetened powedered chocolate (not Hersheys!!, use a much better quality cocoa - it will have a higher Iron content) (30 calories, 2 Tbsp) 1 scoop NowFoods, unf…

Cytomax Protein Pure Performance drinks in either tropical or tangerine (I haven't tried the watermelon yet). I'm also liking these much better than the Isopures (sorry but it's just my personal preference). 40 g of protein per 20 oz bottle. A bit tart at first bite, but they rock! Made with whey protein isolate, no carbs, no sugar, about 160 cals per bottle.

Hi- I wanted to share this with you- I drink Kombucha- it is a living tonic, you can buy it or make it your self. The only think wrong with buying it is, it is made with tea- which has caffeine, and being that us WLS peeps should not be drinking caffeine pre-op or post op, or effervescent drinks... how would one go about getting their "booch" fix? The tea- which is a living thing- made from tea and sugar and the scoby, left to ferment. (google that) Scoby it's a culture of living organisms that are good for you- especially for your GI tract! similar to keifer and the yogurts. however it is fermented so there is a trace amount of alcohol and sugar. I started dri…

Back in November My wife and I decided to make Holiday baskets for friends. One of the gifties was Raspberry vinegar. We started out with fresh raspberries and a gallon of white vinegar. I let them soak for a month then strained it and also filtered through a double coffee filter. We bottled them and gave it away, (along with numerous other edible things) We have four bottles left over, and one day I found what looked like the paper seal floating on top. As I picked it up to look closer, I see there is a cloud of floaties. I quickly googled- worried I had given people something bad, though knowing it was 75% vinegar- can't be that bad... I learned I had a living c…
