Waiting on Insurance Approval

Hello, I am so close to getting all my information sent off to the insurance company for approval of gastric bypass. I only have one more dietician appointment to attend August 7, 2026, then the paperwork can be sent to the insurance company for approval. I have thought about this for years and finally took a leap this year to do it. I have tried everything I can know of to lose weight and nothing sticks. I feel this tool will help me a lot. Anyway, June I had my consultation and everything went quick all the doctor appointments, test, and stuff was done by end of June. July, I had one dietician appointment and my PCP appointment. Now everything is at a crawl waiting for this one last appointment with my dietician. Then the insurance can take up to 30days to approve the surgery. I am trying to focus on protein and fiber right now and swimming is my favorite exercise, easier on my joints. Anyway, just wanted to say hi see if others are close but time is going by so slow.

The process can definitely feel like it moves super slow. My insurance required a six month program before approval. I also felt like I dieted my whole life and had trouble getting something to stick.

The process can definitely feel like it moves super slow. My insurance required a six month program before approval. I also felt like I dieted my whole life and had trouble getting something to stick. I also felt like I always did well for awhile and then gave up. This is the first time in my life I've stuck to something. I also have this horrible fear of giving up my dedication and sliding backwards every single day. I think thats what keeps me in check. I have a horrible fear of putting the weight back on eventually.

Time crawls towards the surgery, or so it seems. We spent so long deliberating over the surgery that we feel like a petulant child awaiting christmas. My wait was 8 long months. This and my 3 week brute of a pre op diet made sure of my commitment. I swear I ran to the operating theatre with a smile on my face.

Good luck going forward and dont be afraid to ask questions. Your new you and your new obesity free life is just around the corner and its a wonderous thing.

Yes I think we all did this. Very very few get turned away. Occasionally the odd one has medical needs that need treating initially.
