heavy stomach and needs to burp

Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody have the same thing as I am experiencing more than a month now post op. I eat very little everytime and chew my food well but after two spoonful of any soft food I feel like my stomach is already full and heavy like carrying 5 kg of weight in my stomach and I need to burp a couple of times which is hard to do in order to feel relieved. Is anyone experiencing this king of feeling? Thanks

This is normal, I’m 4 days post-op from the mini-gastric bypass & had the same issue immediately after surgery. I was told not to force it, and let it come out naturally from one end or the other.

That sounds like your eating a little too much and that's why you feel like burping. It is hard to do when you are full. It may be a sign that you are full too, but you are not listening to your tummy saying, "enough". How many weeks out are you? I'm 15 weeks post op and still only eating 3 oz every meal.

I am only one day post-op but definitely feel full after a single spoonful. The urge to burp is almost always there, but I'm so used to swallowing air to burp (pre-op) that I can't burp now post-op. Not sure how I'm going to deal with the pressure and urge to burp. Just hoping it will pass over time.

This is normal, I’m 4 days post-op from the mini-gastric bypass & had the same issue immediately after surgery. I was told not to force it, and let it come out naturally from one end or the other. I’m not gonna lie, it’s painful and uncomfortable, but I promise it will get better as each day passes. I felt minimal pressure this morning and was able to pass more gas & feel alright now. I really only notice how heavy my stomach is when I’m lying down, flat on my back or sides, but using a bariatric stomach wrap seems to help. Especially if you have an apron belly like me.
