Pre op diet got me strugglin

I am on day 8 of my 2 week preop diet, surgery is Saturday. This diet is seriously kicking my ass. I read posts where people are saying it gets better after 3 days.....lies, I tell ya! Lol It is just as bad as day 1 but now I am tired asf, no stamina. I climb stairs at work all night and my quads are singing Stand by me, every step. I am going to do it because I do not want any complications during the surgery. But my diet seems alot stricter then most these people. I started this at 330 pounds, 6ft. I eat 8 Oz a lean protein a day and 3 protein shakes. Unlimited starch less veggies. But really folks, who wants that sh1t?? If we wanted to snack on veggies we wouldnt be a fatass. Liquid phase starts Thur, oh God, pray for me, any tips, not allowed pickles on my diet so scratch that.

That sounds like a rough pre surgery regime. Every doctors protocol will differ though. My dr required me to lose 21 pounds before surgery. I had 6 months to do it though. I lost 50 so he gave me a lenient pre op diet. The goal is to lean out your liver since it has to be moved over during surgery and a big fatty liver can make it harder. Just remember this is one of the harder parts. After surgery its weird you almost don't have an appetite for awhile. Good luck and just try to focus on the big picture!

Oh wow! And yes, we will BOTH be skinny! I'm feeling okay. I'm having periods of normal energy and tiredness. The glue is finally coming off my incisions. Thank God! They were getting itchy. How are YOU feeling? I'm surprised you felt awake enough to message on this board. I was out of it for hours after my surgery. Have they brought you any broth, ice chips, or popsicles yet? Are you walking around? Let me know how your hunger is. It was so weird, but my hunger went away and didn't return until day 5, I think. Then it was very subtle. It's been 10 days since my surgery now, and though I get hungry, it's not as urgent as before. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm here.

I went to Mexico for the surgery as it was way to expensive in Ohio. The drainage tube just came out, but these nurses I dont think are actually RN's, thet are super young and half the time I think they are guessing. The IV was leaking, twice, then they put it back just the IV line directly into the needle port no little connector. **** like that worries me.

Oh, my goodness! I hope you made it home okay. Please update us soon.

Made it home, completed my 3rd week post op. I started the pre op diet at 328 pounds. I just did blood work and doc check. I do have low blood pressure, the doc thinks it is the rapid weight loss. I got dizzy and almost passed out at work. But I am now 288 pounds.

Yay! That's awesome! Congrats on the weight loss. Hopefully, your blood pressure will normalize soon. I had low blood pressure before and nearly passed out at a client's house, so keep an eye on it! How are things going with the eating? How are you feeling overall?

I hear ya! Feeling tired a lot is normal. It'll get better. Showering would tire me out so much that I had to wait to apply lotion, etc. It's better now. Take care of yourself! Reach out if you need anything. We're all here.

Try to get a little extra protein in if you can it will help so much with your tiredness and give you a little more energy. When I felt like I couldn't eat in the beginning I used unjury protein soup (you mix the powder into warm water) and they really helped me get by. Just remember it will get better and this IS THE HARDEST PART!! You got this! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the advice. I tried eating Salmon tonight and it just sat at the top of my stomach for a hour. I would like to just stick to the liquid protein for now. But so.eone who had the same surgery said I have to eat solids to get my stomach back in shape. I think though I am going to revert to the liquid protein for another week or two.

Week three I got a stomachache from eating pureed chicken that had a few chunks in it, and a week later, I was able to handle salmon, cooked very soft but not pureed. So, yeah, give yourself another week or two and you should be fine. Did you puree the salmon?

In the end you need to do what works best for you and your new stomach. If liquids is all you can handle just do that. Just make sure your getting your protein. In moments of desperation in the beginning I remember the only "solidish" food I tolerated some days was some mashed potatoes with gravy from KFC. Was it the right thing to eat, no, but it worked to get something in my stomach without feeling like crap. I also relied on sugar free jello alot. The powder unjury protein soup was my saving grace more then anything. I got tired of sweet protein shakes really fast in those first weeks. My body tolerated savory protein way better. YOU GOT THIS!!

Hi everyone, I'm really new here and it's nice to meet you all. I'm having gasteric sleeve surgery on September 14th and I'm really anxious with limited support. Initially it was going to be June 22nd, but there wasn't enough time to get the shakes and I'm diabetic. They are being safe, which I appreciate. I'm glad 50yearoldfatty purpleowl72 and flowerchild6200 are doing well

I hope when my time comes I can say the same
