Excess Weight Loss During Perimenopause
Hello! I'm 53, almost 54, and I had a gastric sleeve to bypass conversion on April 15th. My surgical team told me they're surprised I'm losing so quickly because it's uncommon when having a wls for a second time, but despite being perimenopausal with irregular periods, the weight is dropping! I would like it to be faster, but I average about 2-2.5 pounds each week, with some stalls, which I was told are normal. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Pre op diet got me strugglin
Week three I got a stomachache from eating pureed chicken that had a few chunks in it, and a week later, I was able to handle salmon, cooked very soft but not pureed. So, yeah, give yourself another week or two and you should be fine. Did you puree the salmon?

I hear ya! Feeling tired a lot is normal. It'll get better. Showering would tire me out so much that I had to wait to apply lotion, etc. It's better now. Take care of yourself! Reach out if you need anything. We're all here.

Yay! That's awesome! Congrats on the weight loss. Hopefully, your blood pressure will normalize soon. I had low blood pressure before and nearly passed out at a client's house, so keep an eye on it! How are things going with the eating? How are you feeling overall?

Pre op diet got me strugglin
Oh wow! And yes, we will BOTH be skinny! I'm feeling okay. I'm having periods of normal energy and tiredness. The glue is finally coming off my incisions. Thank God! They were getting itchy. How are YOU feeling? I'm surprised you felt awake enough to message on this board. I was out of it for hours after my surgery. Have they brought you any broth, ice chips, or popsicles yet? Are you walking around? Let me know how your hunger is. It was so weird, but my hunger went away and didn't return until day 5, I think. Then it was very subtle. It's been 10 days since my surgery now, and though I get hungry, it's not as urgent as before. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm here.

Hello 50-year-old soon to be skinny. How are you doing? I guess your surgery is tomorrow. GOOD LUCK! I'm a week out from my gastric bypass surgery (it was converted from a sleeve.) Please keep us posted with your progress.

Severe GERD after sleeve (and weight gain) considering revision, looking for experiences
Hello. It sounds like I wrote this post. I had the gastric sleeve surgery in 2011 and lost from 311 - 188, and I couldn't lose more. I now weigh 277 and my mild acid reflux has become severe. I had always been against the gastric bypass because it seemed so invasive. However, after meeting with my new surgeon and discussing a possible conversion to the gastric bypass + repairing the medium hiatal hernia that I have, I have decided that I'm going to go for it. I saw the surgeon initially this past October and I only agreed to have an upper GI at that point. It wasn't until January that I finally decided to go through with the conversion. I needed time to do more research and try to lose weight on my own and attempt to naturally heal my hiatal hernia. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful with both, so I saw my surgeon again and told him I wanted to go through with it. I'm on day 2 of the pre-op diet (it's a lot easier this time because I can eat solid food and not just liquids) and my surgery is April 15th. I will let you know how things go, if you want. Did your doctor recommend a conversion?
