Do the nurses usually allow a family member to visit you in the recovery room after surgery and not only in the assigned room?

That will depend on the hospital. Some hospitals I’ve worked at allow family in recovery, some will have family meet you at the room.

I....honestly don't know! I was so out of it those first few hours, I have no idea if my hubs was back there or not!

All I can say to this is that I genuinely can't remember being in the recovery room, everything was so so hazy and it felt like a dream!

I’ve had surgery at a few hospitals and I’ve never seen anyone with family in recovery. You may not even remember it. They want to get you out of there as fast as possible and since they know that you’re going upstairs instead of Home, they basically do it as soon as you wake up. The nurse to patient ratio is very low and someone should be like practically sitting right there with you, though you will not be alone.

I was not allowed to have anyone. My husband dropped me off at the admittance and I was alone the rest of the time. He sat in the car till I was done- bless him for that. I was there from 645-2pm then they wheeled me out and I was on my way
