When Is It Ok To Have Alcohol!?!

Recommended Posts

I've seen people post about having wine a few months out but I don't drink wine. I use to have 1 Long Island and be really buzzed so I won't drink that but when can I have a mixed drink? I'm 2 1/2 months out.

I am three months out from my first surgery and just hitting two months out from the second. I drink wine quite often, though not as much as I used to, but I can say that it does not turn me into a stark raving drunk :) But harder booze...I tried baileys a week or so ago....that did not sit well. I couldn't drink more than a few sips (probably too much sugar). I had the same reaction to rum though earlier this week (just experimenting). I don't know if it's the liquor content or the sugars...but even though I'm allowed to have it, it does not sit well.

Anyhoo, both my docs said two months. Nuts said four months and never (I don't listen to the never girl) and the pa's said 3 months and never (but she was a major bible thumper with very strict views on even wine! so ummm I don't listen to her either). I often wonder where my son gets his selective listening skills....

I am 3 months out and could get drunk off the sacramental wine at mass. I can't tolerate it at the moment and I don't like the feeling I get from drinking it. I go straight from sober to passed out, with none of the fun inbeteeen stuff. I was never much of a drinker, so I don't miss it. Trial and error I think.

Clear burning alcohol like vodka and tequila are the best for our new tummies. Other alcohol has too much sugar in it. Although I still will try wine. But it's a good thing I like vodka and tequila just no pop for mixes

Just be aware that it will hit you a lot harder and faster now than when you had a much bigger stomach.

I'm loving my vodka lime sodas and pre op I was a big drinker. Went out last wknd and had quite a few drinks (naughty I know) - prob about 5 drinks all night - I had a fantastic night and although I did feel it faster than I used to (prob the 20kg weight loss + small stomach and so little food) I was comfortable no issues.

Wine not sitting so well and if they make my vodka with too much soda I let it sit for a few minutes stirring some bubbles out...

There is a vodka called Titos, it's hand made, and has no sugar! It's very good with diet cranberry, which has only 3 carbs.....be careful, very addictive.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
