iggychic got a reaction from KimA-GA in C-Section Vs Sleeve PainI have relatively little pain from the normal part of the surgery and would compare it somewhat to the csection pain, but I was on morphine after the c section (which I am apparently hyperactive to) so I spent the first four days talking to Martians and yelling at my lovely nurses and any invisible people who stopped by. So my comparison of both is from day four when I found lucidity .
I will say though that from an hour after the surgery when my complication reared it's ugly head (internal bleeding, a .25% risk or 1 in 400 for anyone...higher for high risk clients) my pain was excruciating. For nearly 24 hours it felt like someone was cutting my body with a chain saw over and over. I spasamed for five days (picture the never ending epileptic fit) until my blood pressure finally mad it safe to give me Meds.
Incisions...don't even notice. The balance....the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life.

iggychic got a reaction from SleeveToBypass2023 in You Should Really Get Professional Help!I've said that...more than once and mostly to the same person.
"can I have Mac and cheese two days out"
"if I blend a pizza is that a liquid three days out"
"I swallowed gum nine days out".
I honestly think that this woman has psychological and emotional issues and I want her to get some help before she kills herself. She's been pushing death since day one. She needs help!

iggychic got a reaction from Auntneecie in I Dont Like Food AnymoreAre you allowed to have a cheeseburger at this stage? I guess I was thinking you were 4 or 5 weeks out....bread is a nasty no no early on as it puffs up in your tummy.
I believe though you've said that your program allows potatoes at this point? (Mine does). What about making up some lovely fried potatoes at home, or shoe string but make them a bit healthier again by cooking them at home? Add some sour cream and butter, just a bit, given you aren't going to eat a bunch anyhoo and indulge in that major treat while still being sort of on program?

iggychic got a reaction from DayByDay in I Dont Like Food AnymoreYou know my son has a feeding disorder (he has no natural hunger drive) and kids like him prefer sweet, salty and savory in BIG flavors. I am finding as I eat less that the things I used to like a little now sound great, like salsa. I had a scrambled egg with salsa and sour cream yesterday for Breakfast and it was heaven. Pre sleeve I'd have not been that excited about salsa frankly.
Maybe thats the trick you should be looking for...something highly flavored (that bowl of yummies sounds good to me LOL)

iggychic got a reaction from wanna in Divorce, Vsg And Pregancy !Even a hospital or doctors office can not tell until 8 to 12 days after fertilization so it's likely too early to know. A fetus that young is not yet throwing off any or enough hcg to make you feel symptoms. A couple of questions? When was your last menstral cycle? This is important to know your window of ovulation. You can play in bed like bunnies but if you aren't or haven't just ovulated, nothing but fun happens.
Are you regular (and surgery will fuss that up? But for the dates involved it would help to know the probability.
I'm sorry he hurt you. If you are pregnant it will be urgent to work with a full medical team. The one thing that you don't want to do is get pregnant withing the first three months on your sleeve as the fetus could be mal nourished.

iggychic reacted to sassypants in Big Mistake! Why would you even allow yourself to put 8oz in a bowl or on a plate and eat it?
You should have been told 4oz max so to double it and just keep going is doing yourself no good.
Some people do infact have bigger pouches some smaller if your stomach is bigger pre op they don’t take extra away they still only take the same amount away which means some people do have up to a 10oz holding stomach after.
This doesn’t mean you eat 10oz of food each time your on a diet even with the sleeve you don’t eat till your full/puking/in pain/stuffed you eat the amount your told to eat.
You’re also told to slowly eat 4oz over 30-45mins so 8oz in 15mins is far too quickly your not giving your body time to register your eating and possibly are full and to stop.
If after eating your advised portion you still feel your not full wait 30mins and drink some water/juice etc to help fill you up.
The sleeve isn’t a magic wand it won’t suddenly stop you craving things you used to crave it won’t let you put anything in your body in any amount and just vaporise it and you loose weight you have to be responsible with it and follow the rules you are given to have the sleeve work at its best.

iggychic reacted to kwindham in Company In The Hospital? My husband was halfway around the world working when I had my surgery, but my parents were there during and after the surgery. My brother came and stayed the night that night when my parents left. Support is extremely important. I was in pain and the nausea was horrendous! I never vomited, just constant terrible heaving and nausea. It was very nice that there was someone there just to hand me a cold cloth to lay over my neck and wipe my mouth, call for the nurse if needed, cheer me on when it was time to walk when all I wanted to do was sleep. You really should consider having someone there before, during, and after the procedure. Before the procedure you will need the emotional support because its possible you will be nervous.

iggychic got a reaction from ssriley in Company In The Hospital? He should be there before during and after surgery. Honestly you have to rethink your child care if he can't be away thet long. When you are not lucid they are your lifeline. You would be a fool to go into surgery without one! Anyone, but SOMEONE.

iggychic got a reaction from crystalny in I Ate And It And I Am Not Going To Beat Myself Up!Last week I almost died having this surgery. I'm still feeling like a total fool who risked everything to be thin again. So I read threads like this thinking rather negative things I guess. I think the "offending" comment was actually quite well said. Bully for you now go work it off....in a nice way actually. You can't support someone who is sliding into their old world again. If she had said she had one bar I'd think that it was no big deal, but she had two.....two nice fat slider food bombs.
My doctor warned me about the two year mark. People who hit it fit and completely changed in their poor life style choices stay healthy. But those who learn to manipulate their magic sleeve and fall back into the old ways are throwing this opportunity away. Treats are fine....but it is not "normal" to have two bars! My advice would be to remember to pay for your treat (evil exercise) and next time you feel the need to repeat an old habit I'd suggest you do so if you must...but absolutely do NOT go beyond a normal portion (1 bar in this case). And for gads sake don't eat all night long.
It's not worth it. A real treat would have been a small hagendas scoop or some frozen yoghurt ONE SCOOP! Not two semi real ice cream bars wrapped in a fake cookie crust. .

iggychic reacted to doxieville in I Realized TodayI an looking at this a bit differently:
We've ALL been on diets before our sleeve where we had to restrict ourselves. Obviously, we all failed at those diets. :-). And we've all gorged ourselves with foods we loved because we couldn't stop at just a few bites.
Well, I'm looking at my sleeve as a way to enjoy ALL foods again, with no guilt. Gustavo posted on another topic about being exposed to a decadent chocolate cake recently and he didn't crave a huge peice, but knew if he wanted to, that he could stop at one or two bites. THAT's what I'm looking forward to. No more food guilt trips, or overindulgences of food. But that I can have a bite or two of WHATEVER my sleeve will tolerate and be happy. Of course I'll have to be careful and not constantly eat whatever I want, but the knowledge that one bite of something delicious isn't going to send me down a path of glutony makes me positvely giddy with happiness.

iggychic got a reaction from Piplula in What Are Friends For...no SupportHoney, I had the same conversations with my dear friends. They love me as I am, I'm beautiful, something could happen....all of this was said with immense love and in the end after an hour long lecture on the beach over a bottle of champs, they agreed to set aside their fears and be there for me however I need them.
But you know what? I was wrong. All the impossible happened and I nearly died. They were right. Now this is when you know you have a true friend. They have taken my boy sailing, horseback riding, crabbing, etc. one is hosting a charity dinner for me because I will still be in bed sept 15. They're doing they can to help me.
They had to assimilate the process. It is extreme, they're right. Give her a little time. If she is a true friend her worry will turn back into support, but she is fair to worry.

iggychic got a reaction from Cookeeeeez in Quit Kidding Yourself! You must not have children. Life is full of opportunity for regrets. You do what you can to avoid them but only 20/20 hindsight leaves one without regrets. Regrets are the natural process of an intelligent person assessing the choices they have made in life and accepting the good decisions while acknowledging the bad.
Just my take on it.
So, glitter (love the name btw)
Was that my post that scared you? I was low bmi, "no possible issues" "easy peasey" supposed to be up playing tennis with the doc next week .
I won't type a diary because you can follow me in that other thread but I want to share my main regrets.
I am likely to live but there were moments that was in question. Anyone saying "no regrets" has not been lucid while hearing doctors discussing how to keep you alive. I've been there twice. Eclampsia with my son and this surgery. The difference between the two is that I "had" to give birth, I did not "have" to have this surgery. My biggest regret at this point is when I did this. My son is six and has a feeding disorder and a blood disorder (boy in the bubble light) I have no health issues due to weight so I could have waited a few years. I went ahead because since his birth my life has been in turmoil. I lost seven other babies, had to give up a very satisfying career to care for him and had to move to another state to ensure he could have a normal life (shorter cold and flu season). This means my husband is away more than home...that's been a hard adjustment for us all. But this year things seemed to have calmed down to a close attempt at sanity and I said "it's me time, I'm doing this". Given all the assurances that this was no big deal I felt very little worry going into the procedure. You know the ultimate result.
I posted my story because I hadn't seen one from a patient as healthy as me and I felt people need to be prepared for all scenarios. You need to really think....is this the time? I don't think I regret the surgery, I just wish I'd have waited until my son was your daughters age. He would still miss me but his more serious issues would be gone by then so it wouldn't be so hard for him. That's the biggest one. I hate being stuck up in room six and I desperately miss being a part of life, which I have always lived to the fullest no matter my weight.
Add those thoughts to your process Hun and just really think this through until you are ready! Don't do it before then. Your head needs to be fully in the game.
