Is a hassle! But it's really good in the end. Today I blended up some canned French onion Soup, and it was delish! Just feel silly for having to dirty a big ol' blender for my measly little portion. -__-

So not sure if others have been given this advice, but my NUT said buying children's sippy cups was a good way to train myself to take small sips, and help stop me from gulping. Maybe it's just me, but I'd be totally embarrassed walking around with a sippy cup that has handles on both sides, and Dora The Explorer pictures all over it. LOL. But wanted to share that I FINALLY found an "adult" looking sippy cup!!! So if anyone's been looking for the same thing, here's one I found online at Target: http://www.target.co...lot=medium_1_48 Ahh, the simple joys in life.

I make my own Greek style yogurt and while I don't know the exact nutritional content, it saves me tons of money on those little containers! I purchase tubs of regular or low fat plain yogurt. Line a mesh colander with coffee filters (could use cheese cloth), place this lined colander over a bowl and dump in the yogurt. You need at least an inch between the colander and the bottom of the bowl. Place the bowl in the frig and every few hours drain off the liquid that's accumulated. I like mine extra thick so after 6 - 8 hours or so I place an inverted saucer with something a bit heavy on top to help squeeze out more liquid. Transfer to a storage container and you've …

On week 13 now, going into week 14 next week. I've had a fairly OK loss of 51 lbs since 2 weeks prior to surgery. I had a great Thanksgiving and Christmas when I ate pretty much anything and everything, though very small portions. I've had wine and cocktails, chocolate, salad, beef, raw fruit, ...pretty much anything and everything. My exercise habits have been sporadic At around 11 weeks I was up to 600-700 calories and now I'm back to 400-500. I have no desire whatsoever to eat most of the time. For example today. It is almost 4pm and I haven't eaten today. Just 2 cups of coffee with sugar free creamer. Yesterday I had just at 400 calories. I don't know if it is bec…

Two weeks post op. Out of habit I finished a Jello pudding cup . Sitting at my desk at work. Don't know what I was thinking. I feel fine. After the fact I looked up how many ounces (3.5) which equals 7 tbsp. EEEKKK! I am only supposed to have 2 tbsp per serving right now.

I had RNY 12/27/12....I'm only 4 days post op. I feel like I'm consuming too much. I can drink a whole 8-12 ounces of my protein drink in about 20 minutes. I can drink 3-4 16.9 ounces of water and 4-8 ounces of broth. I'm reading where people can can't even hold an ounce down at a time... I totally feel like I'm over doing it now!

I was sleeved Nov. 1. I had some complications with my stomach swelling shut. I was on tpn for 6 weeks. Long story short, I've been trying to find soft foods to eat and my list is so short. Pretty much fish, crab or shrimp. Nothing else stays down...any ideas?

I watched a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". The guy does juicing only + water for 60 days and lost over 80 lbs. It is a great film. The nutrients are absorbed better with this method. I think juicing has tons of benefits and we could add protein powder as well. Anyone have good or bad thoughts on this. And how would I add it to my fitness pal?

I'm not quite 3 months post-op and I'm finding that I'm starting to crave more of a variety of foods. Unfortunately this includes sweets and that freaks me out bc that's my drug of choice. I need to keep "safe" foods in the house for my sweets cravings, which usually hit at night. I have light yogurt and sf pudding, which are doing the trick for now. What are some of your go-to foods when you're craving sweets? Nothing that I'd have to cook, but something quick that I can snack on before bed? Thanks!!

I should have posted this a long time ago when I was still drinking a lot of Protein powders, but it slipped my mind. I know that there was a thread around here somewhere on ratings of protein powders, but I often didn't share the same opinion, so here are some notes I made. I didn't try everything out there, so I missed out on tasting a lot of them. My surgeon asked me to be completely off of Protein drinks after 12 weeks, and I am for the most part. First, though, I do want to share that I always mixed my Protein powder with Water. Only once did I use milk instead of water. I also went to smoothie King a few times and their mix was not in my control so there may be s…

So I've been skipping through the daisies for the past few weeks. I have been very fortunate outside of the typical things just about everyone experiences (periodic hunger, periodic blues, hair loss, stalls, gas, etc.). I didn't mind drinking the shakes when that is what I was supposed to do (even if I didn't like the taste). I haven't had any issues with food. I travel a lot and eat out all of the time and have posted a lot of nutritional information and some "go to" items that I prefer from various restaurants in different threads. I eat Vietnamese, Indian, seafood, Soups, vegetarian options, meats with no problems. But tonight I have had a totally new experience…

So i am incredibly sick of the same ol' Protein shakes. today i decided that at least 2 times a week i would "invent" or find a new concoction to try. tonight i made up "Unchunky Monkey Smoothie". Can't believe how good it is. here's the recipe: 8 oz skim milk (i use lactose free) 1 packet No Sugar Added chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast 1 TBS creamy Peanut Butter 1/4 cup sliced banana 1/2 scoop powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder i put it all in a blender and blend away. i also added about 1/2 c crushed ice to make it nice and cold. i am looking to get som…

I purchased 2 kinds of protein broth from TrueNutrition. Each has 1.5 grams of carbs and 26 grams of protein per serving. I was getting tired of the sweet shakes all of the time. (yeah, shocked me too). I tried the French Onion flavor. I wouldn't serve it for Christmas dinner, but it wasn't too bad. I also got the beef broth, but haven't tried it yet.

I have three days left of the full liquids, and then I'll switch to pureed foods. However, today I had a lapse in judgment...I ate a small piece of roast beef (deli meat). I chewed it really well, but I felt so guilty afterwards! I don't feel sick or anything, but is there a chance I could have hurt my staple line? I'm freakin out a bit :-/

I began really working out today and want to know if I should be counting regular calories or net calories after exercise is considered? I was just looking at total calories but was talking to someone and they said I need to look at net to make sure I am taking in enough so I am not burning everything I put in my body. I am confused on what I should do and welcome any advice.

I'm about a week and a half post-op from sleeve surgery. Skim milk is seriously starting to make me nauseous...is it safe to drink soy milk? Also, I feel SO weak. I'm having a hard time eating throughout the day. Everything I put in my mouth, aside from decaf tea and Water, is making me want to hurl. I'm taking my promethazine to help me out. Has anyone else had that problem? It's like my body would just rather have me drink water than eat anything.

I would like to give you my typical day.....breakfast maybe half a yogurt, lunch three to four bites soup, supper 5-6 bites mashed potatoes....add some fruit juice during day maybe 6 oz...and maybe 6-8 oz water. I am not dehydrated and not hungry. I know if you figure out protein h2o and calories I am eating like an infant so what do I do???? Also when can I try few bites pizza topping or few bites spaghetti or few bites ham and cheese roll up???

I was not sure I would like it the first time, but now it is one of my favorite side dished with a portion of protein for dinner. It has a good salty seafood taste and is apparently really good for you. I ate it for first time a couple weeks ago at a sushi place, but have since found some at Costco. Be forewarned that it is very stringy and you may need to wait until tour sleeve can handle it. For me, that is about 6 months post op. Come on, give it a shot. You know you want to.

I will be in an inaccessible place for about a week, I will have to pack all my food in. I will have access to Water. I had planned to use Mountain House freeze dried food, but it's SO high in calories and carbs for the amount. Weight is obviously a factor. I planned on beef Jerky, dried apricots, dried cranberries, nuts, Lipton Cup a Soups, Peanut Butter (maybe), Crystal Light packets and maybe some Nutri-System Breakfast bars that I still have. Any ideas? Boy, am I going to miss vegetables!

I made the most adorable one-egg cheese omelet for Breakfast this morning. It was seriously little and cute. As I'm looking at it, I realize that it's really a metaphor symbolizing my life & eating for the rest of my life. It may be that Im just getting it because today is my 3 week sleeve-iversary and I am just now getting into soft foods. I am realizing how much I will be eating, and it's like a mini one-egg omelet that I only could eat half of...hopefully this makes sense and you're not all thinking I'm a freak. With so many stories in the news about juicing I wondered if anyone here had any experience with this? I am ten months post surgery and have lost 60 pounds but the weight loss is very slow at this point of time. I have about fifteen more pounds to lose to reach my goal weight. In order to shake things up I've thought about juicing in combination with eating Proteins but I haven't been sure as to whether this would help or potentially harm. Frankly part of my hesitation is the expense of the machine and also you are grinding up a lot of fruits and vegetables to get a little bit of liquid. Thanks.
