Also how will i find a good dr. If i have issues with my sleeve other than an er visit. I do have insurance/ it just wouldnt cover my surgery.

I keep reading how everyone who has had surgery finds that they are no longer interested in food. That has NOT happened for me. I still find myself obsessing about food and when and what I can eat next. Am I the only one?

When you are counting the carbs in your food, so you subtract the dietary fiber? I know when I was on a low carb diet before, you subtract the dietary fiber to get the true carbs.

Caffiene, it's so ingrained in the culture where I live. coffee, espresso, it's everywhere, I've been consuming it my entire adult life and I can't imagine functioning without it  . I am probably just as addicted to it as I am to food. *rimshot* Skipping my morning latte, coffee, or black tea creates nasty results for my body. I'm haggard, not with it, not alert, I'm less creative, and I have to drag my ass through the day. While , it is a diuretic which I'm aware is bad for sleevers who need their Water and hydration. I am being sleeved on March 14th 2013, and my surgeon prescribed that I wean myself off caffiene. I managed to get off lattes, all that milk…

Hey everyone..... 8th week band to sleeve revision.... 41 pounds gone...Nice! I wonder if I'm eating too much. It seems I eat and then I feel like crap! For instance tonight I ate broiled flounder about 5 ounces and about 2 ounces of spinach..... Feel like crap.. Had to lay down with discomfort. Not pain just uncomfortable and a little nausea. Tunafish gave me the same feeling too. What are you eating and how much? Please share..... Thanks!

I was reading an article online the other day about weight loss and the reasons the weight isn't coming off as quickly as it should. They mentioned artificial sweetener raising your insulin which makes your body hold onto fat. Anyone know if this is true? Any input?

I have been told that the max protein we need take in is 140grams, but what is the max carb intake for us to continue losing weight? I am 2 years out...getting in lots of protein average 115grams, water, and excercise, but still at a stall and jumping up and down the scale. I think it could be my carb intake because I stay under 1200 calories everyday. Also, a lot of my carbs are coming from fruit and healthy food. I am so confused!

i was curious about something - prior to surgery, i did NOT eat enough Protein. i would get 20-30g a day max. i am currently half way through my 2nd week post op and average 50-60g per day, although i know my goal is supposed to be 80g. it is so difficult especially because i hate these shakes! when i move onto pureed/soft foods, since you can't eat more than a few bites, how does the food even provide you with enough protein? don't you still need Protein shakes (ugh, my worse nightmare!) ? it is just hard to fathom i guess and i'm trying to do whatever i can to avoid these shakes lol

I am eating between 1200 and 1500. Working out 5 days a week doing cardio for an hour and burning between 800 to 900 calories accordin to the machines. I am left at the end if the day with bet calories between 300 and 600. I am only drinking water and didnt lose any weight last week. Told nutritionist this and she said not to eat my exercise calories. Getting very frustrated..... Am i doing donething wrong?

Hello All! Random question.... I'm 4 months post op (sleeve) and since surgery my scalp psoriasis is OUT OF CONTROL! I assume its a combination of the anesthesia, dietary changes and the general stress of the whole process. My question is...has anyone else experienced this and how did you get it under control? I've tried over the counter and prescription shampoos and creams...is there an addition to my diet or at home remedy that you found to help? Thanks is advance!

I would like to know what people are eating three months out. I don;t think I am getting enough protein and know I need to drink more water, however I don;t feel thirsty and have to force myself. Does anyone else have this problem. I aim for 60 grams protein a day, but some days only get 45-50. Are there any good unflavored protein powders I can mix in soups? Love soup for lunch but not much protein, also love cereal for breakfast (don't want to eat eggs everyday). I found the only cereal with a fair amount of protein is Special K high protein. Please help.

I went and brought Rubermaid Storage containers they claim to be 4 oz but they can only hold 3 oz of solids. So what I do is cook my fish, oatmeal, and so on and I fill those containers up and each one is a meal. It works for me and i know I wont stretch my sleeve since I am sticking with my storage cups. They are from Bed Bath and Beyond and are called easy find lids. What do you do to assure you won't stretch your sleeve or over eat? *Note I am only 5 weeks post op* Not sure if this makes a difference..

Ok I have two odd symptoms since being sleeved on 1/10/13 and that is my vision is blurry when I where my glasses that used to help me see perfectly. Now I can only use my glasses to see far away but if I use them to look on my phone or type everything is jumbled. I took the patch off my ear in hopes it would give me immediate relief but it hasn't. Will this ever go away?! It's scary. How will I drive if I can't see well?:0/ Secondly, I can't seem to quench my thirst!! I just spent the last 2 hours drinking 24oz and earlier today I drank Water. I can't get rid of this dry taste in my mouth. I have no moisture. Cotton mouth. Anyone else ever experienced that??

I tried searching for this but got buried in NUTS! Once on solid foods do folks do okay with nuts? I know nutritionists often say no, but that's more of a "dieting" and not mechanical issue. I have a hiking trip planned for several months post-op and we usually pack trail mix. Just need to know if I'll need to consider a back-up plan.

I met with my NUT this week and she suggested putting lemon Crystal Light in non fat Greek vanilla yogurt. Just tried it...I mixed a little less than half the packet into the yogurt. I have to say that it tasted like a tangy lemon pudding! It was delicious and I got more protein in! I think I'm going to try orange Crystal Light next to see if it tastes like a Creamsicle.

  49. I know this is going to work in the log run but the MyFitnessPal app says based on my calories I will not lose because my body is not consuming enough calories (1st week 300-500 calories) and my body will go into starvation mode and slow down my metabolism. So how does this surgery stop this? I am also really dizzy today. Typing is difficult and blurry. I don't know how to remedy this- if it's calories or my anemia. I have been drinking water... Anyone have any info??
