Smart, educated, and independent, I knew I had to do something for myself because I was the only one that could. Always the "chubby" girl with a pretty face or pretty hair or pretty eyes, I tired of being defined by my size. It was time to act!

In May 2009, I watched my mom transform after she had Lap Band surgery. To say I was jealous would be an understatement. So, at 30, and after "failed" attempt after "failed" attempt at weight loss, I decided it was time to say good bye to my extra weight for good. Initially set on Lap Band, because that it is what I knew, I attended my first seminar in January 2012, where I learned about the gastric sleeve. After attending a couple of other seminars and countless hours of research, I decided the sleeve was the best option for me.

It took a few months to decide on surgery....and then a few more steps (and a few minor holdups relating to my medical history).....and then, on March 29, 2012, I had my consult with the surgeon and we FINALLY scheduled surgery for April 24, 2012.

A lawyer by profession, I am looking forward to life as a normal sized person and the opportunities that it brings.
