Been doing a lot of research on this on the Internet. And I'm coming to the conclusion that this whole thing about drinking before after has far more impact on those that had a gastric bypass than the sleeve. What are your thoughts? I know what the nutritionists say, I know what the doctors say, and I know what the threads say. That being said it doesn't really make sense when you think about it. All introducing liquids to the equation for a sleeve bypass patient does is fills it up faster and leaves you with less room for actual food. What are your thoughts and experience?

Hello, I am still pretty new here but im trying to find similar stories and experiences. My 1st follow up is tomorrow with the surgeon. I haven't been keeping good track on what amounts of liquids and foods im taking in. im starting to have a really hard time with excepting how hard this really is, i imagined it difficult but this is insane! i fantasize about any food now, i wish i could taste everything that comes on the damn commercials. im still in whole liquids but i have been cheating with small curd cottage cheese and refried beans the past few days. no nausea, just sudden fullness quickly after eating a few bites. i gave up on the one ounce cups to measure, now i j…

I was sleeved on 12/5 and I must say, here recently, I have not been eating healthy & definitely over-eating. My first two weeks I lost 20 pounds and my second two weeks (during Christmas and New Years) I only lost 4 pounds. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in myself and I'm really looking for some encouragement. Has anyone else fallen off the path before and then gotten back on? Today is Sunday and I've started eating healthy again today and will be staying this way. I'm just really nervous that I've messed this up. I saw the doctor on Friday and he says there is nothing to worry about. Just immediately change my habits back to the way they were. See, one of my major prob…

Hello! Thought I'd share a find (& my Dr. Recommended) Ostrim snack sticks. They are individually packaged, including a variety of favors! My favorite s pepper but the maple sugar turkey sticks are ideal for breakfast. HIGH Protein - 14 grams, low fat - 3 grams, and all natural. Definitely a good source of protein for on the go or days you just don't feel...You can purchase in health stores but as always...amazon is cheaper! Enjoy VS'S!

I have been following a fairly low carb consumption since surgery. I don't count them but probably sit around 20 grams a day. Most recently one day I consumed 6 crackers, this sent me on an eating frenzy(as much as it can be) I felt that I ate more protein and didn't get my full feeling. Well the next day up 1.6 pounds. I know that carbs need water and I am sure that this is water weight but has anyone experienced this? Is this why it may be better to go a few pounds below goal because when you get to goal and start consuming more carbs you may retain the water needed for the carbs? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Would it be safe for me to put about a tablespoon (or less) of peanut butter in a protein shake? It seems like it would make it taste better, and the protein would be super helpful. I'm currently in the first two weeks *full liquids* stage of post-op surgery.

Ok, for the record I have not eaten bacon. Yet. But I will, one day. I love bacon. I was sleeved 12/12/12 and am now onto the mushie/soft phase of my diet. I'm doing good on my Protein and Water intake, I hit my goals most days. I do however have to force myself to drink the Protein shakes. I have tried countless ways of "fixing" them, have 5 different brands, etc., all to no avail. They are gross. I know that they are necessary, so I do drink them. I would prefer not to, and I know, in time, I will be able to get all protein in on my own. This leads me to my question. How and What are you able to eat to get in all of the protein necessary without shakes?

I have the following items for sale CHEAP! If you are local to Eastern VA (Fredericksburg area) I can meet you. Otherwise, I can ship. Prices are for pick up. Would have to add shipping based on location. All items are brand new, unopened. In the days after surgery when I was bored to tears and only had my computer to keep me company, I may have gone on a post-op Protein shopping spree! I will never use these - but hope someone else can! - large container of unflavored unjury powder: $20.95 on Unjury.com, $10 - small bag CVS Cookies and Cream protein powder: $12 at CVS, $5 - 750ml bottles of sugar free Torani Syrup (the same brand Starbucks uses) - great for smooth…

Try freezing any flavor Isopure like Alpine Punch or Grape in ice-cube trays then using a Ninja blender (that's what works best for me) to make an awesome slush. Put a few cubes in one of the single-serve cups, add a little cold Isopure drink, pulse away and you have a slush as good as anything you can get at Sonic. Never gets watered down because it's ALL Isopure. Add a little Splenda or Truvia to taste if you want, then enjoy - one sip at a time. If you pour it into a Thermos cup, it will last a very long time in the slushy state!

I've been drinking green shakes everyday for the last couple of weeks. I must say, I love them suddenly. I never could eat enough greens. But I figured I could get them down in liquid form. Well, the first shake I made tasted a lot like fresh mowed grass.....not good. But I'm gradually getting better, to the point where I really like them now. And I started catching my wife stealing sips out of my green shake, now I make her a shake everyday as well. Interestingly, I read somewhere that greens increase cravings just like sugars. The more greens you eat, the more you crave them. Well for me this has definitely proven to be true. I'm craving salads all the time …

I'm not comfortable with all the "lab created foods" we are supposed to ingest post op. I CAN and will, if its absolutely necessary, but I'd prefer not to. Artificial sweeteners, chemicals, etc. are so counter productive to a healthy lifestyle. I'm not dogging those that do it. We do what we have to do, I just hope there is a way around it. What about this? I have a juicer, how about I juice my own fruit and veggies and drink that? Maybe I won't tolerate the strong flavors? Maybe there's just no way to get in all the nutrition I need that way, with such a small stomach? Still, I don't know that I "buy" Protein powder having more nutrition than freshly juiced gre…

We all love food, if not we'd be twig b****es (Fat Amy quote lol) So figured we share ideas on food finds. For those who have an HEB (grocery) and like salmon or trying to learn to like it like I am. They have these pin wheels that is salmon with feta cheese and spinach that aren't too bad. Also nestle has a sugar free nesquick that's still tasty. And found that I can tolerate dark coffee roast more than light, which I always hated lol. Easiest for me to do is shrimp.

Ok, I can *tolerate* Greek yogurt at best but I know it's a good snack so I started experimenting. I mixed an individual container of Chobani vanilla with 1/2 a packet of sf cheesecake pudding mix, a packet of Splenda and a splash of light coconut milk. YUMMY!!

Hello everyone, In march 2013, I will be one year out VSG, and I'm concerned about the amount of food I can take now, is it normal that after some months out, you can take more food, is there a limit to how my stomach will expand again? The reason I'm so concerned is because the other day I noticed that I practically finished by myself a whole bag of popcorn (the one you microwave). Have you noticed that with some specific foods you get fuller quicker or vice versa? I have, and I don't know if this is normal... Can you guys tell me if this has happened to you, or if you guys know what's the most amount of food you can take after several months out of the VSG? tha…

Ok so in about three weeks I will be sleeved. I am freaking out. Not sure what type of Protein I should buy. I do not like any sweets or chocolatie drinks. I seen some people mentioning unjury chicken and other whey protein products. I just don't know how to go about in deciding which is the best for me. Also, can someone tell me if the picture people of chicken broth is good for me? Is organic. Please help! Thank you all!

My son and daughter-in-law gave me the cookbook "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" for Christmas. I made a couple of the soups today, pureed them, and have them freezing in ice cube trays. I was really excited because they tasted really good, even pureed. The cookbook indicates how and when each recipe can be eaten (weeks 1-4, 1/2 cup pureed). I then went back and looked at the info that my nutritionist gave me and the only thing that is mentioned is protein. Am I allowed to have anything in addition to the protein? One soup has onions, garlic, mushrooms, and broth. The other one has ginger, jalapeno, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and broth.
