Hello everyone. I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday. I have a question for you all and I would love your feedback. I have been sleeved for seven months and I miss salads so much. I was wondering at what time you began eating them them again. I have had a very difficult time with any raw veggies. Raw fruits I am alright with but I've noticed that with any raw veggies, I am not a happy camper. I have only eaten a little lettus (different kinds) with things like a crab cake (that came with sandwich but I took apart) and after a small bite or two, I feel horrible. It's not as bad as raw onions. I CAN NOT EAT RAW ONIONS to save my life. I have no idea …

I bought some tasty dried seaweed from trader joes today. The package has 4 servings and each serving has 2 carb, low sodium and no fat. It is slightly sweet and has some sweetness to it. First time I tried it and found it pretty yummy as a snack option with some protein. I had about 1/8 of a serving ( a few pinches) because I only wanted to sample it to see what I thought of it, so no impact really on daily nutritional counts.

Hi All! I had my sixth month follow up with my nutritionist Tuesday and had several questions answered, especially those concerning how I should eat to train to run. I am running quite a bit lately and am starting to train for my first half marathon so the answers were very helpful. I had several questions for her that I needed answered. Questions such as: Do I need to count net carbohydrates or gross? Am I eating too much? What should my ideal weight be; what should I be aiming for? How should I nutritionally balance my meals? How should I nutritionally prepare for race days? Is it okay to use fuel gels during an endurance race? How should I eat to recover…

Below is a great article on tips and tricks for Acid Reflux. I know many sleevers struggle at one point or another with bouts of acid reflux. I hope this helps! 01. Skip the aerated drinks as well as the caffeine. Opt for herbal tea instead. 02. Have a glass of lukewarm Water every day. 03. Include banana, watermelon and cucumber in your daily diet. Watermelon juice is great for curing acidity. 04. Coconut water is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity. 05. Drink a glass of milk – everyday. 06. Have your last meal at least two to three hours before you hit the sack. 07. Keeping long intervals between meals is another cause for acidity. Have s…

My doctor is trying to organise a pre Christmas Breakfast or a post Christmas breakfast gathering. Options are for pre Christmas: Four Points by Sheraton in Geelong and post Christmas: Langham in Melbourne. Both offer buffet breakfasts: Sheraton: http://deals.fourpoi...aurant_Menu.pdf Langham: http://www.melbarest...menu-270410.pdf I said to the nurse who called to inform me about the plans that really it would be a waste of money for me as Sheraton is $25pp and Langham $40pp. I know he'll be paying (I assume, as he's a bit of a tightarse...as he's a doctor LOL), but seeing as I eat so little, I'm not sure I should go. Your thoughts?

M 6 months out and will lose up to about 3 lbs a week lately. I feel like I'm eating all day and don't work out. I want to join the gym, but I'm also scared of losing too much. I'm 159 right now, 9# away from my drs goal for me (though I think I'll probably get myself to 130). Also, I can only eat about 3/4 cup or 1/2 a sandwich or a whole banana (slowly). Is this normal? How much could y'all eat? What should I do?

Ok..so I was in Nashville with the hubby for him....found out he has hyperthyroidism..he has always been able to eat anything and be thin..well now we know why! I always thought he was the lucky one...and now I feel some guilty about that..anyway....I found Teavana a specialty tea store. I tried the Youthberry and fell in love....so I would recommend trying it out if you have one in your area...it's a delicious way to get your fluids in! Expensive ..but for me worth it!

I don't know where to post this, so this looks like a good place. I'm 3 weeks post op and having some issue with my teeth! They are so sensitive! Any ideas? Plus, I think my taste has changed! I seem to need to stick with bland foods so far. Tried a friends squash soup, and that's as far as I got was a bite. Before surgery, I never met a food I didn't like. WIERD! I'm cooking, and it all looks & smells good, but I also don't want any of it. Anyone else? Dawn

HI, I am getting ready for surgery and trying to stock up all my supplies. My NUT said I could have plain yogurt but to flavor it myself instead of getting fruit yogurt and straining it. So have any of you done this and what are the flavors you used which worked best? I am thinking of checking out the bakery aisle at the store but wanted to check with all of you first. My original plan was to get some liquid flavorings ( lemon, have vanilla, coco perhaps, and other fruits) and add Equal to taste. Any thoughts?

HI, I am 2 weeks from surgery. I see many of you use My Fitness Pal and I have a question. My nut says I have to get 60 grams of Protein minimum. I have been following the food plan they gave me but when I put it in My Fitness Pal, it says I don't need that much protein. That is discouraging. So how do the rest of you use the site and get it set up to the right criteria for WLS. I don't want to be working hard to follow a plan and then have a tool I am using to track it ( My Fitness Pal) tell me I am off the mark or wrong when I know I am following the program. As it is now, I am manually entering all my meals and information in my electronic calendar but I would like a …

Very time I eat real food I am getting so queasy. Liquid, purée or soft foods.......I am almost 5 weeks out and I don't understand why this is going on. At this point the last 4/5 days I have eaten a yogurt and tried to eat something else but usually give up and drink a glass of water instead, since I have found I am pretty dehydrated too. Bleck this sort of sucks! I return back to work tomorrow as a paramedic so I better have some energy and strength lol

I have not had surgery yet and my Consult apt. isn't until Dec 3rd, but i'm trying desperately to get the hang of all this and start getting in more Protein and get the hang of the shakes and stay within the calories, fat, carbs, sugars etc allowed. So today I made a Protein shake and wrote down all the nut info and this is how it went: chocolate EAS Protein powder ~ 1 scoop Cal130 Fat2.5 Carb3g Sugar1g Protein23g Sodium50mg Silk vanilla Almond Milk sweetened ~ 8oz Cal90 Fat2.5 Carb5g Sugar15g Protein1g Sodium150mg …

MY GOD THIS IS SO HARD! Two weeks out and Im having such a hard time coping. My husband swears he understands and is supporting me but really he doesn't get this at all. Especially when he is stuffing his face with all sorts of trouble in front of me. I'm still on my MUSH DIET. And, I hate it! I had my daughters 2nd birthday party cookout yesterday and there was all sorts of food that I got to cook and ate NONE OF IT. Wait... I'm lying I snuck two shrimps and had to literally throw the rest away because I was having a serious self control issue. Thursday I'm being put on stage 4 where I can eat ground meat. That will be glorious! But, Im so scared of breaking! I have no…

Hello, The last couple of days I have had the munchies. This is the first time since my sleeve 23 Jul. I can only eat so much string cheese. I've also munched on pecans and walnuts. I know it is from stress at work and completing my degree...finally. Drinking Water doesn't help. My first reaction was to purchase grapes but those are high in carbs. I also purchased a box of Atkins snack bars but my nut said to stay away from Protein type bars. I'm stall so much and I don't want to regain any of the weight. What do the rest of you do? Thank you

I am 3 weeks out but have only lost 5 lbs. I have been concentrating on limiting my intake to 600 calories and 60 grams of protein a day. My doctor didn't say anything in particular about sugars or carbs though. I have seen that some people on this board try to limit their sugars to 10 grams a day but that seems really low. Others concentrate on limiting their intake to under 40 grams of carbs a day. I was just curious about what kind of guidelines others try to follow as far as sugars and carbs? My opinion is that the sugar and carbs shouldn't really matter when I am only consuming 600 calories and 60 grams of protein but, since I haven't lost much weight, I'm begi…
