After the huge amount of success I've had I need to "let my hair down" and eat some bad foods. Turns out yesterday I tested positive for smoking...I knew hanging with the boys the night before was a bad idea. So I'm trading in my friends for a few months while I complete the last class and Dr. Appointment where I get my surgery date. Bring on some junk foods...but Monday morning I am back to my strict regimented lifestyle I am committed to. Anyone close to PA with an exercise bike they no longer want? Money is tight right now due to my work injury...but I'd be willing to pay what ever I could. Since I can't walk without crutches I thought an exercise bike might he…

I had my surgery on June 11th and I still can't handle any kind of carbs. Does anyone else experience this? I have tried Pizza, Pasta, Rice, Potatoes and foods that have carbs in the ingredients. Instant belly ache. Feels like I swallowed bricks after only a few bites of these foods.

I still find myself wanting something that has a crunchy texture with a bit of salt. Too often I work in some crackers. A few weeks ago I had a some potato chips, but I think that craving has passed. My local Kroger grocery has a whole section of dehydrated vegetables, but they have a lot of sodium and are oily/greasy. (Actually, they may be deep fried instead of dehydrated now that I think about it. Not sure.) So I was thinking that if I could dehydrate some vegetables I could make my own veggie chips with sweet potatoes, squash, zucchini, carrots, beets, etc, and add a touch of salt to satisfy that craving for crunchy, salty. I know that there is a brand of this type…

I am a month out today. Nut has me on soft food for another two weeks but I am sick and tired of chicken, tuna, eggs, turkey, and fish. Tol me to wait on beans, but tried with no problem, also had a tiny bit of chili, no issues , ate real slow. When can I try a tiny piece of toast, I really would like to try and see what happens. When did everyone else try? Tomorrow I am at an all day training at work and they are having pizza, could I try a little bit of a topping, no bread. I am scared as I don;t want to get sick.

Has anyone done the Vi shakes post op? I was considering it, not before I consult my doc first though. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it. I want to do it because I would be getting the nutrition that i need. It would be great for me with the busy lifestyle I have.

I just got home. I am officially post op now. I am on full liquid but I want to be sure I am doing this right. My NUT gave me a sample menu that says about 1oz every 15 minutes. I am just making sure that sounds right. To me it just feels like I will be sipping all day long. Which is ok by me. I am just seeing if others had these instructions too. I want to do everything as I should. My Soup gets cold though waiting to stretch out each bite. I am lucky with no nausea or anything so I am just kinda freaking out I guess. Any advice for these first few days home on full liquid.

Years ago when I was only 17 and working and living on my own I needed to cut cost as much as possible. Ramein noodles get old quick so I started eating beef liver sandwiches because they only cost 28 cents a pound at the time. I recently went back and found that at only about 100-130 cals, 7-11 carbs, and high protein at 27-30 gr ( depends on how it is cooked) it has made my way back into my diet as a low carb very high protein meal.

I feel bad habits creeping back into my world! (late night eating, mindless eating, overeating sugar etc) With all this candy around, it's hard to focus and on my goals. My kids would kill me if I got rid of the candy (and I don't want to deprive them so that they go crazy later on in life like I did) so I try to remove myself from it. Somehow, when I get back home at night, it is right there again, talking to me.... I am 8 mo post op and have a hard time getting a nice piece of fish down (I gag and get sick afterward) but carbs and sugar go down nicely. I've hit my goal however would like to lose another 5-10lbs for the "just in case I gain some" factor. Anyone hav…

I'm still considering whether to have the sleeve or not. My insulin resistance causes problems for me when I eat low carb diets because then I tend to get low blood sugar and very weak. Although the sleeve would probably heal the insulin resistance eventually, I'm wondering if the liquid and puree and otherwise low carb sleeve diet will cause me to be too weak initially?

I was sleeved on September 7. Everything is going fine - I have lost 32 lbs (8.5 weeks); however I seem to always be hungry. I had 1 cup 1% milk, 1/2 slice whole grain flax bread toasted with 1/2 Tbsp Peanut Butter and a cup of coffee for Breakfast. Hour and a half later I am starving. I was told not to snack between meals but I can't go for more than 2 hrs without crazy hunger pain. Sometimes the hunger is so bad it wakes me up in the middle of the night. Thank goodness I am too tired to get up to eat and it eventually passes. Anyone else experiencing this? Any and all advice is very much appreciated.

Hello! I had a sleeve done in April and 4 months out if became kinked and then just on this past Monday 6 days ago i was converted to a Bypass. When I had the sleeve done i could only sip little tiny bit of even Water and it would hurt. It took forever to progress to more liquid and food. Since day one out of my surgery when they would let me drink I was able to drink normal just like I was prior to the surgery, Also i am able to get the pureed food down no issue at all and I NEVER have a full feeling. I dont know if the bypass full is the same and the sleeve full but either way I dont feel full. Dont get me wrong I dont keep eating but it is rather disturbing that I don…

I'm having tummy troubles an I'm searching for recipes because I'm tired of eating the same old things. My doc won't let me eat fruits or veggies because of the gas they produce and the sugars in fruits. I can't find gastic bypass recipes without them. Also meats are kinda heavy for me but if I have no fruits no veggies and no meat, I feel like I'm just on the all mushy diet. So idk. Anyone have ideas for soups I can ground up and lighter meats. Things you had success with?

So, this is pretty straight forward. I'm having trouble eating anything. It seems like what I tolerate includes nothing that has any significant amount of Protein in it. I've tried both the pre-surgery shakes and the clear Protein drinks, as well as adding in unflavored protein to drinks, you name it, I'm trying it. The only thing I've been able to eat and not just want to vomit is sugar free hot chocolate with unflavored Protein powder, but I'm afraid of drinking seven cups of that a day because then I'll be sick of that, too. It's the texture and taste of the protein powder and the fact that drinking the clear protein drinks results in those little... strandy thing…
