How many calories a day does everyone average? I was at 800, one month post op and was told that was too much, by my dietician. My daily diet has consisted of 2 protein drinks, with skim milk, cottage cheese, a yogurt. Dinner, small piece of chicken or fish and maybe 3-4 bites of vegetables! Help!

I just started entering my meals into MyFitnessPal -I was losing track of protein-very scatter-brained since surgery last week, and I can't find anything from my nut. regarding daily caloric limit. I'm sure it's less than 1,000-more like 700-800, I'm guessing. Anyone have info. on calories?

So I'm near DC and things aren't looking good. Both Lowes and Home Depot are sold out of generators. I am not looking forward to losing my food. They are telling us to prepare for 10 days without power. Anyone have any ideas for protein? I'm not looking forward to drinking warm muscle milk.

I am 4 weeks post op and my mother is 10 years out. She has never had dumping syndrome but I took one sip of gatorade the other day and the 20gs of sugar hurt me so bad I couldn't stand up until I vomitted. Will I out grow this? When I'm a year out will I still be dumping? I just want to be able to look forward to a future when I can have one lollipop.

If you have an Android phone or tablet, there's a very good application for healthy recipes. It's called Healthy Recipes from Sparkpeople.com. You can search for meals under a certain number of calories. I found many good and easy recipes there. Thought i'd share it with you. Enjoy Sent from my Galaxy S III using RNYTalk

I'm paranoid I'm eating too much. I had been having trouble keeping stuff down, puking almost every time I ate. Then literally overnight, I'm able to eat again, and actually keep it down. I ate an entire cup of Soup tonight, no prob. This morning I had 3 oz of ham. I have been chewing & pacing myself. I'm just wondering if I'm eating too much. I'm almost 3 months post op. I want to start a regular exercise routine to help me lose weight quicker. I have had 2 lower back surgeries (herniated disks) so there is some range movement limitation but not too bad. I have arthritis in both hips so it really hurts to walk; every step I take hurts. Christmas shopping to me equates to "oh no, my hips are going to hurt!". One of the main reasons I wanted to be sleeved was to lose weight, resulting in less weight on my joints and beating the pain! I don't have access to a pool. Does anyone else have this situation and does anyone have an exercise suggestion?

There's a store front that anyone can go to a buy a Protein shake. They make all different kinds of flavors. They also do a wellness evaluation. They stick some electrode on your hands and feet. It tells you your BMI, your muscle mass, fat mass and it will tell you what your weight should be. My goal is to be 135, but that evaluation said that I already have 133lbs of muscle mass and that I should be 168 at my lowest!! REALLY?? Has anyone tried this wellness evaluation? I don't know if nut's do this at their office or maybe your dr does it. PS. I like their scale better, said I was 4 pounds light than what my home scale says....

Not my words but I have been reserching what I was told and so far I don't know what to Belive there are so many different opinions on what Protein does it will make your head swim. Remember this was told to me by a gym rat muscle head who eats sleeps and breaths weight training and is a RNY success story 5 years ago he was 425 ibs to day he could kick Arnold Schwarzeneggers but the man has a BMI of 4 yes I said BMI 4. So Belive what you want I'm still taking in 60-100g a day. What have you read or been told ???? ************************************************************************************************************************ The biggest protein myth is that y…

Curious.....has anyone tried the P28 high Protein bread/bagels? It has 14 grams of protein per slice, I think 12 carbs and is whole grain. www.highproteinbread.com I was thinking about trying it, but it's not really cheap. Just looking for a little feedback from people who have tried it before I take the plunge. Thanks! Mark

We eat dinner out almost exclusively (I'm pre-op), We both work jobs where we are just drained by the time the day ends. I know I need to start makign meals at home more (I'm lecturing myself, don't worry. ) BUT anyway.... preop, I am able to make pretty decent choices. I am curious if you just avoid eating out until you resume eating normal foods entirely? Are there any places that have decent options for the mushy phase at least (I'm sure liquid phases are out ) Once you don't have form restrictions any longer, what do you eat, at what place, when you go out, that you feel is a decent choice? I'll give a pre-op example. At chili's, I either get the marga…

Ok. I know this a no no and i'm a bit more than 4 weeks post op. I have had an incredible run.. I also started drinking on dates (ok'd by my doc as long as they say I know they are empty calories) and obviously, i'll sip on wine or the cocktail while eating.. I also have drank at the same time as eating once in a while when the food was too dry.. I have also been approved for coffee and since I have that first thing (and sometimes MUST eat when I get up due to work), I often drink coffee and breakfast at same time. I know the only reason to do this (ie separate them by 30 minutes min) if you have no gastro issues (which I don't) is to not liquify your food and thus keep …

I'm almost 3 weeks out from my bypass surgery, right now the only thing that doesn't make me sick to my stomach is cottage cheese and orange juice mixed with water. I want more options for getting my protein in, the shakes are starting to make me sick. Tried chicken salad with light miracle whip and was sick for two days. Any other suggestions?

Today I ate the best thing since I started this journey back in July!!! This is huge for me, because I've really been struggling to find nutritious & flavor packed food that I can tolerate well. My taste buds have change a lot, and I find a lot of the foods I used to enjoy are either too unhealthy, rich and/or heavy for my tiny tummy. Quite frankly, eating has been a drag. Anyway, you have to try the recipe for Turkey White Bean pumpkin Chili on the SkinnyTaste website. It has a whopping 23g of Protein, only 187 calories and tons of yummy flavor!!!! I added a little extra chiIi powder and some smoked chipolte pepper to mine. Here's the link: http://www.skinnyt…

Isopure? More like Isopuke!! I'm trying to find something with a lot of protein (can't beat 40 grams) in a bottle where I also get 20 oz of fluid at only 160 calories. If I didn't have such a tiny stomach, I'd just chug it down fast. But I have to sip, sip, sip, and gag, gag, gag. Those protein shots are worse. Guess it's back to the shakes. Let me know if you found something tasty out there!

Ok, I do one ready to drink shake a day but I've tried so many different protein shakes that you mix and I hate them!!!! I hate the foam too. I have read where people eat protein pudding. How do you make it. I had a cup of vanilla sf pudding and I put 1 scoop of vanilla pro powder, it made it runny????? Is that how everybody else does it???

It's so frustrating not really knowing what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat. 3 meals and 3 meals only? Eat something every 2-3 hours? 3 meals & 2 Snacks? Fruit is OK. Fruit is not OK. salad is OK. Salad (as in lettace) doesn't have any nutritional value it's not OK. Drink Protein drinks. No, don't drink Protein Drinks. Eat your protein. Protein Bars are good. No they aren't. Yes, they are. HUH??? 60-80 grams protein. 80+ grams protein. Only 20 carbs. Up to 90 carbs - if they are "good" carbs. 600 calories/day - 1000 calories/day (within the first few months of surgery). We get one set of guidelines from our surgeon and think "OK, sounds good…

I heard, what I hope is a a rumor that carbonated beverages, diet soda, champagne, fizzy waters etc can cause your sleeve to stretch. Is there any truth to this? I do not have a NUT, so if one of you could ask yours, I would really appreciate it! I do not drink them on a routine basis but enjoy one once in a while, but will STOP if this is true! Cheers!

I’ve started my pre-preop diet.. at least 7 days of record keeping before the visit to the nutritionist - eating better, smaller portions, etc. I’ve been making Soups, grilling meats and veggies, etc. I now have bags and containers of measured and ready to eat meals. Great right? Yeah maybe except - Some I can tell what they are, but others – I don’t have a clue! Things in baggies are easy..I’ll start writing on the bag with a marker, but what about containers? I don’t want to write on reusable containers. Does anyone have a system that works or some great ideas so I don’t have to recreate the wheel? Thanks for your help. More Good Times
