Hello How are you feeling? What did your doctor say about your cold?

September Surgeries!
Hi Shelly. During my pre-op appointment, i learned that I will get one while they are prepping me for surgery. They said it doesn't really hurt though because our stomachs aren't as sensitive and they use a very small needle, similar to an insulin needle. It is not supposed to feel like a regular shot or IV.

Head Cold= No Surgery?
I always load up on Vitamin C crystals and Eccinacea the day I start feeling sick. I can typically ward off a full-blown cold and not get any worse than the first day. You have 7 days. You can beat this!!

Most Surprising Thing After Surgery?
- Not Enough Protein
DL, could you please send me the list as well? Thanks!! mariacnewman@gmail.com- Most Surprising Thing After Surgery?
Hi Molly and welcome!! I, too, am having my surgery on September 10. I'm also on the West Coast and having my surgery in San Diego. You've asked some great questions, so thanks! And thanks to everyone for the helpful replies! I have heard the gas pain is the worst, but should significantly subside in a few days.- Newbie In Wisconsin
Welcome and congrats on taking the plunge! Everyone here is great and very supportive. We have a September Members thread going too with all of us having surgery in September. I think we have two other members having surgery the same day as you. Mine is on September 10. What's been hard about your pre-op diet? Is it liquid only?- Shopping List.
Great ideas! I have a week to go, but I started eating with a cocktail fork and baby spoon so I'd be used to it.- Just Approved For Surgery!
Yeah, congrats!! I bought a couple sample packs so I could try different flavors. However, several people have said their taste buds changed after surgery, so I'm not buying any large tubs until after my surgery. So far, I have liked some of the Nectar ones the best. The Unjury chicken soup is pretty good too. If you want to go the less expensive route, Costco sells Premier shakes that are around 30g protein and taste good too.- Newbie From Michigan
Welcome! My surgery's not until September 10, but rest assured we'll be with you every step of the way. The overwhelming majority of people I have talked with say it's the best thing they've ever done. I've gone through a range of emotions including being scared and now I'm just excited to get the show on the road! Let us know how your appointment with the surgeon goes!- Girly Question ......birth Control Choice?
I have a Mirena IUD. I love it! I had it put in at 8 weeks after my second son was born in February of last year, and I've had no issues at all. I, too, was crampy for about a day afterwards, but now, cannot even tell I have one. I certainly do not have a period every month and when I do, it's for maybe a day, a very light day. Every doctor is different, but mine still suggests a second form of birth control after surgery for everyone due to increased fertility. I am going in a week after my surgery so I can get a prescription for the pill. I don't want to take any chances of getting pregnant during the first 18 months after surgery. Also, if you're having RNY, then you have to take vitamins for life, so adding a tiny pill as a precaution is no big deal.- Finally!
Waiting for insurance approval is very difficult, but hang it there! I'll keep you and everyone involved in making the decision in my prayers.- Before And After
Congrats! You look great. Keep up the good work!- Hey Y'all, Newbie Here!
