I decided to google some bariatric meals and I was wondering if anyone tried them and where did you get them. I am sure cooking your own food would be cheaper but it wont hurt to try them. Anyone know of any cheap alternatives, maybe healthy choice on sale? Are they high in protein?

Anyone else have trouble eating this? I like the dry roasted ones and love the crunch but I can never even get close to eating the whole 1/4 cup to get the 14 g of protein...maybe half if I'm lucky. As soon as I start eating them I immediately feel full and today started feeling like I was going to throw up. Is it because they are so dry?

I know I've read somewhere to stay away from salsa for awhile as it can 'anger' a sleeve. Has anyone found this to be true? And if so, when were you able to enjoy salsa again? Thanks!

I ate a popsicle on the way to work! Ha. I have a 10 day strict liquid diet. Ok now the question. Does it feel like u just drink and eat jello or some like that one right after the other? The Oh Yeah! Protein shakes are really good and 32g of protein, 3g sugar, 220g cal in each bottle. Sipping on it has helped broth fill me up. Trying to send pic!

Tried this...I could only pour it over the rocks... Not blended. Maybe that would have made the difference. I couldn't drink it as is, so I bought lemon/lime G2 (low sugar gatorade) and mixed that with it!!! Sooo much better. As with everything... MODERATION!

I'm having a bit of trouble. I spend the majority of my days at school all day, where I do not always have access to a refrigerator/microwave to bring myself an actual lunch, and I'm failing at giving myself enough to eat/giving myself any variety. I am still on soft foods for another month or so, which really limits the things I would usually turn to (Protein bars, salad, etc). Lately I have been bringing myself string cheese, a Protein Drink, and a fruit - but during my long days when I have class and then clinical that is not enough. I have tried a muscle milk and an Isopure but then I just feel like I haven't had anything to actually eat all day. I know protein wis…

Hey all! I'm currently on my pre-op liquid diet and my surgery is scheduled on Sept 4th. WOO! Here is what I foresee as a predicament. I work 12 hour shifts overnight. I live about 35 minutes away from where I work. This is my typical work day. I wake up at 4pm, get ready for work, and grab something to eat. I leave around 5:50 to get to work around 630pm. From there on, I'm quite busy with patients until about 10pm-ish. From then until about 6am I'm pretty sedentary while monitoring my patients. Then, I leave work around 7a to go to the gym for a half hour or so for cardio. I go home and do some weights and then go to bed. Rinse, repeat, etc. I'm doing the liquid di…

I'm hoping some of you experienced people can help me here. I am 2 years post op VSG (08/03/10) and I am no longer losing weight. I am eating 1600 calories a day and exercising 5 to 6 days a week for 60 minutes each day. My HRM watch tells me I burn anywhere from 440 to 650 whether I am doing Zumba, or running. I am only getting my period once every 3 months. I weigh 219 and I'm down 143 pounds from pre surgery. What the heck is going on here?!?!?! Could Menopause be stalling me out ( I'm 49) ? I have remained the same weight for 6 months.

I am 7 weeks post-op and have a question. Has anyone ever had an issue with getting the burps after eating tuna? Today was my first time trying it. I ate a little for breakfast with a few little wheat crackers and had the burps and gas bubbles all morning. I thought maybe i ate too fast so i tried just plain tuna in the afternoon for lunch with the same results. Has anyone else ever experienced this as well or have any idea why this could be happening? Thanks.

Today is the day that I'm getting back to jump starting my eating plan. The scale has gone above where it dared to go and dammit, it's going the other direction now, so that means I'm going to be eating clean healthy foods right now. Yep, the first 2 days are going to be protein shakes, broths and more proteins. No more nibbling here and there. Really cleaning the whole house out of junk that somehow made there way into my kitchen. Time to refocus my attention back to keeping a careful food journal with my fitness pal. Does anyone want to join me?

I'm getting interested in cooking after my surgery (3 weeks ago). I recently bought a mini loaf pan and mini muffin pan to be able to make smaller quantities. I use a lot of recipes off of Eggface's blog, and these work great! Has anyone else bought cookware that will help them make smaller meals? I am interested in buying Rachel Ray's cookware: http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Stoneware-Ramekins-10-Ounce/dp/B005BQAUV2/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_cart_1 http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Stoneware-3-Ounce-Dipping/dp/B005BQAUAI/ref=pd_bxgy_k_img_b http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Bubble-Brown-Ramekins/dp/B002EAYSPM/ref=pd_sim_k_3 and these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/produc…

Here seems to be a lot of talk on these boards about people becoming lactose intolerant after the sleeve. I think that maybe it's not so much the lactose in Protein drinks. But the sucralose. Sucralose in high doses, depedent on your sensitivity can cause gas bloating and diarrhea. Any thoughts?

Someone posted this elsewhere recently but I couldn't find the post... I'm only 3 months out and can only eat about 3 oz of any solid Protein, which means I am not eating much in the way of fruits and veggies. How long does it take before we are ABLE to eat just a little more, so we can get better nutrition? Any words of advice on getting better nutrition in the early stages?

So I was searching for ways to flavor my water since I gave up on my crystal light and mio because they r really horrible for you. This stuff sounds great and can't wait to order it. U flavor yr water with it or whatever u r drinking and it's all natural because it's made with stevia. No chemicals or bad stuff. Yay! Just thought I'd share

Every Saturday we have dinner at my in-laws. Every time somebody has a birthday my father-in-law will make whatever you want for dinner and dessert, and that is what everyone will eat. My birthday is in a few weeks, and normally I have my menu planned out a year in advance, but this year I am struggling. I really don't know what to request for my meal, or my birthday dessert. I want to request something that I can enjoy as well as everyone else, but don't want to sacrifice my sleeve for their happiness either. Any ideas? Menu suggestions?

Am curious if others care about where their food comes from. I have been a foodie for many years, it is partly why I got as big as I did. I love food and cooking and usually makes things from scratch. I have always cared about the quality of my food but find that now more than ever I am determined to not waste space in my sleeve with poor quality products. Do others find this? I am only eating free range (proper outdoor free range not the nonsense pseudo free range) for all eggs, poultry and pork products. I eat mainly grass feed beef, lamb and venison. I do not knowlingly eat any farmed fish. I ensure vegetables and fruits are organic, spray and GE free. I ens…

Hello, I am having a hard time getting enough fruits and vegetables in my diet since having surgery. I am taking all my Vitamins but worry that I am not getting enough of the other benefits i would usually get from various fruits and vegetables. I am not sure what to do. I have started drinking V8 Vfusion to get some additional servings, but they are loaded with calories and sugars. USDA recommends 5 servings but after surgery, that seems next to impossible. Any information you can share with me will be greatly appreciated!

I'm on week 2 and "creamy" liquids.... Problem is I can't seem to tolerate any sort of creamy soup..? Any other suggestions of something to eat at this point? I can take pudding no problem and even watery oatmeal (dr ok'd that) but no potato or broccoli or any type of cream soup- it makes my stomach cramp sooo bad, like I swallowed razors or something (sorry, I know thats harsh, but the pains suck!) my dr wants me on soft food next week and I just don't see it happening.... Any ideas?

I am pre op and trying to watch my carbs (which of course I love) This morning I tried a low carb tortilla with my egg and salsa and it was really good. Will I be able to eat a low carb tortilla after surgery or is it one of those things like bread and pasta which swell up and are uncomfortable for the first 6 months or so?????
