I'm having an issue...it seems I am never full. I snack all day on stuff. cheese, trail mix, dill pickles, even bad things like crackers and the odd cookie. I have a shake in the morning (had to switch to soy Protein because the whey was nauseating me), and i eat mostly tuna and chicken salads, baked fish, eggs, and other Proteins, almost no bread for meals, very few sweets other than something like fruit or maybe an ice cream. except. unless it's too late, or when i'm in a restaurant with friends. then i get the fear, and start sneezing, stuffy nose, the whole nine. i know i'm going to be sick, and i am. i'm a little over 2 months out (i know it's not long), bu…

Has anyone found a protein powder that does not become thick and bulky when mixed with liquid? I use Nitro-Peak which we order from Vitamin World. It tastes good, but when I mix it with 8 oz of skim milk, but it's consistency is very thick. Ideally, I would love to find something that mixes more like the consistency of chocolate milk. Is that just a crazy dream?

I am 2 weeks post op. I went to a renaissance fair yesterday. I thought it would be difficult being around all of that yummy food, however I just kept thinking "wow those portions are so huge" the ironic thing is before surgery that was a normal size to me. The most difficult thing for me to pass up was the pickles. I had no problem watching people walk by with plates piled high with cheese frys or huge waffle cones with 5 scoops of ice cream. I swear there was a pickle stand around every corner. I also notice when people post recipes like tomatoes cucumbers and balsamic dressing my mouth starts to water. What is wrong with me? I love it, however I'll love it even …

They have Pasta, bars, shakes, puddings, macaroni and cheese, baking mixes, etc... http://www.dixiediner.com/index.php?lPath=31 If you have tried them, please let me know how they are.

Hi, everyone! I started my pre-op liquid diet this week. I'm allowed to have low-sodium chicken broth, but it is so bland! I've been throwing in different herbs and spices to give it flavor, but would love any suggestions you all might have for preparing the broth! Also, do any of you add anything to cottage cheese? Thanks for your help!!

I've been trying out lots of different drink powders and unfortunately I'm not really crazy about most of the flavors. I've decided to give away the ones I particularly don't like and hope there's someone out there who does like them - the flavors are listed below. Just PM me and I'll respond to the first person / people - I'll be happy to cover the postage within the U.S. (I'll be sending whatever packets I have without the boxes to reduce shipping costs), but I'd prefer to do it ASAP as I'm leaving the country in a few days. When I was doing my research on WLS, I ran across a physician website that had something unusual. (Sorry, I didn't make a note of the URL but will try & find it again!) They gave their WLS patients a card they could present to the wait staff that said 'John Doe is a patient at the Blank Clinic & has had weight loss surgery; for that reason, please allow him / her to order smaller portions or from the children's menu.' I thought this was a great idea! Has anyone else seen this or think it would be useful?

I am only 7 months post op and I'm already fallen off the wagon. I need back to basics already. I have constant cravings for chocolate. I can and do eat everything I did before surgery (smaller portions, but not the healthiest choices). I think I need some motivation or maybe a reminder from you all of why we all did this in the first place. I just got back from vacation (nice time, but was at my worset with diet). I plan on starting tomarrow a one week liquid diet to detox, but I still need the motivation to keep it going. If u have words of wisdom, please help!!! Thanks Jessica

  26. I was not really sure where to put this or how to title it so it shall start here. I remember reading somewhere about people using organic apple cider vinegar. One of the main reasons was for a PPI. I have also talked to a couple people that use it regularly and say that it seems to work as a metabolism booster as well. A friend of mine uses it everyday and said that when he started using it that he dropped about 15 pounds and didn't change anything else. This was a couple years ago when I first saw him drinking this stuff. So I get the idea that I am gonna try it. I weight train 2 a week with 30 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes cardio 3-4 of the other 5 days. I do about 80 to 90 grs of proton but have not been counting carbs, fats or calories. 34. I didn't know if everyone knew this, but if you log on to myfitnesspal on your computer, you can put input a recipe and it will break it down to nutritional facts per serving (and you can make it your smaller serving sizes)! ie: I put in my homemade tuna salad, crab cakes, and egg bites and it added them to my database. It's a big time saver instead of adding the ingredients one by one each time! Just found this and thought it was cool so wanted to share

So I'm 6 weeks post op and experimenting with different options. I'm on a full diet and return to work Aug 6 (teacher) so I said I would try a bar to see if that could be an option if I'm in a jam or working late unplanned. I ate the bar slowly, it went down well and I was very full. About an hour later....my stomach started to send me hate mail lol. It is the first belly ache that I've had post op. Ugh! Soon after you know where I had to spend some quality time (at least I finally finished 50 Shades while in there lol). When I looked at the ingredients I think it was the sugar alcohols which I didn't have much trouble with before. Welp....cross those off my list!

Ok, friends I just got the great news that I'm cleared to start eating "real food" again! Yay, yay, yay! *happy dance* But, I have no idea what I want to eat or where to start with. I know I want to ease into eating things just as I have through this whole process, but I'm not sure where to begin, and its a week until I get to see my NUT. I really don't have a craving for anything particular, and I want to hang on to that feeling as I start eating healthy solid food again. But, whats a good first meal? I've been eating cheeses, and egg salad, Peanut Butter and other soft foods for a bit now, so I'm past that place. Suggestions! And one more time, yay!

I'm almost five months out and one of the issues I am constantly struggling with is energy. You would think with all the weight I lost that this wouldn't be an issue. Oh well. Currently I'm eating between 900-1000 calories a day with a minimum of 60g of Protein. I am taking all of my Vitamins as well but nothing seems to help with the energy levels. I will admit I'm not exercising but part of the issue is that I can barely walk up a flight of stairs or even 100 feet without becoming incredibly exhausted. As I'm a teacher this makes my days very, very rough and all I want to do when I get home is take a nap. I did think about increasing my food intake but it's ver…

Fair Warning this might be a dumb post and I'll blame lack of sleep for my stupidity now.... Ok so I have gotten into a really really bad habit. I take sips and I mean tiny sips when I eat. I don't know how it started. But I was sitting here reading through some posts and kept seeing the no drinking in 1/2 hour of eating and I realized I just sipped Water while eating my lunch.....Then I started thinking about it and I do that a lot if not every meal. So now I'm all paranoid and wondering if anyone else has had this habit creep up and if there are any good tips for how to stop, other than moving my water to a different place, but then I'll forget to drink it lol.

I know that some restaurants are opposed to letting adults order off the kid's menu, so a lot of our food goes to waste when we eat out (my doc says no heating up meat because it gets too tough). Went out to dinner today at Houlihans and they have a small plates menu that included a couple of "mini me" meals. They had a 4 oz filet mignon that came with a side of veggies and fries, which I subbed out for mashed potato (they also have a cauliflower mash, but I'm not a fan). Get it without the butter on it. I ate 1/2 the filet and a couple bites of potato and was full. A great meal for $10.99 and the dog got the leftovers. Best part is it's trackable on MyFitnessPal.
