Am 12 days post op and really want to try some retried beans mushy of course. Any any ones else tried them that soon or bad idea? My body feels like it is screaming for some solid protein not shakes.

I know that it doesn't have any protein but I am making low fat potato salad for my brothers birthday party tomorrow. Have any of you eaten potato salad since your surgery? I don't want to eat a lot but I make really good potato salad and would like to eat a little.

Found a few new yummy foods!! Stuffed tomato. I've stuffed them with crab salad chicken salad & tuna salad. All 3 are good. Protein + a little veggie. Wonton wrappers. Great crunchy possibilities with the wrappers. Scrambled egg holder to make breakfast portable, baked crab Rangoons, crispy cups for refried beans. Oh So Good!!!

Hi all! I am just curious for when I have the 3-4 weeks of pureed foods. Does anyone buy baby food and eat that instead of preparing it in a blender? The book I have from the sugery center doesnt mention that at all. Any thoughts?

I was just recently released to have fruit again. I simply cannot stand my protein shakes that I used preop. They are just too sweet. I was thinking about using some unflavored protein powder in a fruit smoothie but really have no experience with making a smoothie so I'm here for advice. I don't really want recipes. I want advice on the basics of making them. Do you just throw in ice, protein powder, fruit and milk and blend or is there a better way? Also, I don't really care for yogurt. Would the fruit hide the aftertaste of it? Does the fruit hide the taste of unflavored protein powder? Thanks in advance for any help, tips, suggestions!

Ok how much water are you supposed to be able to drink @ 5 weeks out? I know your supposed to get 64 + oz ASAP but I can't seem to get much down. I feel like I have to sip 24/7 to get in enough.

Somebody mentioned PB2 on a thread and I wanted to share with everyone. It's a great product -- basically powdered defatted peanuts; all the protein with very, very little fat and no sugar. Mixed with a bit of water it tastes just like real peanut butter. I'm pre-op but I can imagine that it would be great in a protein shake! I had to order it online, but they have a website that lists the stores where it's sold. Just wanted to share.

If you haven't tried the Davinci brand syrups yet - I highly suggest you do! They are sugar free fat free - basically free of anything! You can put them in oatmeal, protein drinks, coffee, etc.

On liquid diet and just wanted something with a different flavor other than protein drink. I like lemons so went to check nutrition guide and even lemon or lime juice has carbs. Hard to remember that much of our fruit will be secondary to our protein now.

Hi everyone! I'm going to Vegas next week. I'm Trying to figure out what to do for food. My hotel room has a fridge (made sure of that) and I have a plan to go to the grocery store but not till the second day when the people with the cars show up. At the store I'm planning on getting some shakes ( I just always get the pre made ones because for my lifestyle it is easier) and yogurt, cheese sticks ect. But until then I don't know what to do the whole first day. I will be 12 weeks then so my diet is still limited. Plus right now stress has me by the sleeve! So I'm having a hard time eating. But anyway, Does anyone have any advice. I know I can throw a few shakes in my che…

Just wondering if anyone is doing medifast or has tried it? I did it for four months and it worked well. Their packets would probably be about 2 meals. They are low carb and high protein. I didn't do the numbers but instead of doing 5 packets per day, two would probably be plenty. I could go for their brownies and chili right about now!

Anyone else love crackers? I haven't started back on bread (and don't plan to), except for a tiny crust crumb here and there, but I do love my crackers. I am not going overboard, or bingeing on crackers, but I like to have a cracker at lunch time or in the afternoon. I usually have about 100 calories of cracker a day. My absolute favorites are the Dr. Krackers. I like the Wasa with some turkey and Laughing Cow. I got some rosemary and sea salt crackers at costco. I bought some spicy saltine-looking things that were made in the grocery deli, but they were oily so the husband ate them. Just about anything whole grain with seeds. I am on the search for cracker re…

Hello. I have a dilemma. Right now, my husband and I are both full time in school and he also works week nights. With our hectic schedules and living on one minimim wage paycheck from week to week, I've found that sometimes I just don't have an option but to go with fast food, unless I want my third cup of sugar free pudding for dinner. He will graduate in the fall, and go straight into a job training program which should help ease up the financial situation. My question to all you sleevers is what has been the most effecient, but healthy options when you've had to resort to fast food post op?

Has anyone else found they have a lot of wasted food? Not like MASSIVE amounts but because I can eat such a little amount right now I end up throwing things out. Like I can do some fish so thinking I was smart I got the handy tinned ones (well my mum picked them up hehe) not realizing how big a tin of kippers was I wasted 1 and half whole kippers because I couldn’t eat enough or keep it long enough to have. Some stuff I can manage can’t be frozen or I have a bad day and puke absolutely everything I try up so by the time I am feeling ok again its iffy or off and i have to chuck it out. What do other people do to help with this? I mean I have about 30 tiny little plast…

I did it!!! After my 11 yr old sons baseball team won the Championships, the team was heading to the China Buffet. Wanting him to be there and my husband at work, so I couldn't bow out... Away i went. I just told the restaurant hostess I had just ate and wasn't hungry (so I didn't have to pay- $15)! When a parent asked... I said I didn't know we were going out after the game and had just grabbed something at the field. Hardest part... Had to help my 5 & 7 yr old get plates. I have to say it was different though. I looked at all the food thru a critical eye! Look at all that butter... That would make me sick... I can tell that is salty... I could have chose the salad b…

Four days in a row no day skipped without at least one "meal" of real food. Yesterday I even reached my calorie goal by eating 4 small meals. I am paying for it now. WOW! I hurt. Just below my tummy and just above my pants line...not moving the way it usually does, as if it is discomfort passing food. :/

I am heading to Dr. Kelly/mexico for my surgery. Too low BMI and no pre-existings (yet). Not willing to wait until my health goes downhill. Question....do you need a NUT? I see so many people posting about nutritionists. Is this highly suggested/required? I do not have insurance that would cover this. I do not have the time (2 jobs & 1 long commute) to do this. If so, how do you go about searching for one that is WLS accepting without being critical of my decision?

These taste so GOOD. Easy to eat (not gummy). I found these at SAMS Club, 20 grams of PROTEIN, 230-240 calories, 0 grams SUGAR (11-14g sugar alcohol), gluten free. I have 4 boys 4-17yrs, I am always on the run. I noticed on my food tracking I was way down on calories and proteins. These are easy to go and I could only eat half at a time. 15 for $18.

Since we are SMACK DAB in the middle of summer- has anyone tried a hot dog or sausage that was (relatively) good nutritional content and that didnt gross you out? I go to lots of BBQ's and always bring a package of wieners or sausages (running gag) and kinda need to find one that I can enjoy. I have found the only hot dog I can eat w/o being queesy is a Hebrew National. I also do fine with the chicken sausages you get at Costco/Whole Foods (but they are gross). Looking for a bit of variety. What ones can you recommend?
