Myself have a week of clear, a week of full liquids, a week of puréed, a week of soft, then add in a few new items over week 6&7, but what I'm noticing is that there really isn't a set structure. Some Dr.s say do this and some say do that....in fact in my practice alone two different surgeons have very different policies... So what's the deal?

Went to my pre op seminar & they said I should buy Protein in this order: whey protein isolate first then whey protein concentrate second & less desirable is soy protein. Does anyone know what is the difference? I bought two tubs of pure protein and they are concentrate & now am curious as to the difference, thanks in advance!

So I started my 3rd Week (Purees) yesterday and I am wondering what everyone else is eating and how many times a day are you eating. Also, how many Protein drinks a day? I have been enjoying my homemade Soup broths that I kind of don't want to let go of having soup. But, I also noticed I am starting to get hungry. Can I get some input please.

I'm in the full liquid stage, I just ate a little under half a cup of pudding. Is that too much? I can't tell when.I have anything in my stomach. Everyone keeps saying I will know but I really haven't felt full or anything for.that matter. So, I am asking, as a general rule, how much should I be "eating". I'm paranoid that I'm going to screw my second.chance up. I think I'm doing ok then my husband pops in with "isnt that too much?" I don't know and my paranoia is driving me batty. So I'm a sushi addict. While I enjoy sashimi, I prefer rolls. Has anyone had experiences with sushi post op? Can you ask to make a roll with no rice? Will they do it? Any suggestions? I miss spicy tuna!

  9. I use to do this pre-op, and still do this but haven't in awhile. What I want to see is a picture of your portion size, whether its breakfast lunch or dinner. It may help others to visualize what amount of food they may be able to eat in the future. I'm asking for post ops at least a year out. So please include how far you are post op, and if you do weigh your meal include it. Thanks.

Getting sleeved August 17, and I was reading different things to become prepared for surgery! I have ordered protien powders, drinks and my liquid multi Vitamin, but what othe Vitamins does everyone else recommend? B12, fishoil, folic acid, Biotin? Any that aren't hard to get down? Also, was looking into preparing food for my soft food phase...was reading a thread where people prepared their food ahead of time (food processed and froze the portions like premade baby food) does anyone recommend doing this? Sounds like a wonderful plan to me, just curious what are good things to make and freeze? I bought a magic bullet that I'm excited to use! Any other helpful tips! …

Can anyone explain to me how/why being on a low carb high protein diet is healthy? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I understand why we need the protein to prevent muscle loss during weight loss but have to wonder about it as a long term eating strategy? Isn't high protein hats on your kidneys? Plus, I thought whole grain carbs were good for you. Thanks for the info.

For years, I have made "Greek" yogurt by draining regular yogurt in a strainer overnight. The thickness and texture is the same as the Greek yogurt they now have at the store. My question: Since this is cheaper than buying Greek yogurt, does anyone know if the homemade version would have the same protein and carb content of the store-bought?

Thought you guys might like this also. Cucumbers... I didn't know this! 1.. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that qui…

  25. I am coming down the line and will probably have a surgery date for the beginning of September sometime and am wanting to start preparing my pantry and so forth a little at a time. That being said, I see alot of recipes for mushies/soft and solids, but little in reference to the "liquid stage". From those of you that have already gone through this, can you post some of your favorite liquid stage recipes. This also would help with that pesky 2 week liquid pre-op too Thanks

  26. Started by NurseJenn,

I don't know if this is common... But it's something I whipped up pre-op, fell in love with (it's one of my all time comfort foods)... And just fell back in love with it today. Super simple... Make grits (I use 3 Minute Grits) in chicken broth. I use Better Than Bouillion because I can add a bit more and get an amazing chicken flavor. I'm day 12. Already on purée/soft foods. Fantabulous. I think next time I make it I'll make them a little watery and throw in some protein powder to amp up the protein. Yummy!!!!!

Hi. I'm having my surgery in the beginning of July. I'd like to hear from Vegetarian Sleevers. Please let me know how you handle the nutritionists' push for protein. And how you manage your vegetarian diet post-surgery. (Can relate to any time after surgery) I've heard that rice is a no-no. What are your staples? Thanks.

I was sleeved on May 21st. I'm pretty much off all food restrictions. I noticed that turkey kielbasa or sausage isn't too high in fat and has higher protein. Has anyone tried either one? Was it hard on the stomach? Did you take the skin off?

Many years ago, as a single working mother, I learned about something called "Once a Month Cooking". There are tons of websites about it if you're interested. Today I was thinking about what I'm going to eat this week. I guess I'm at goal, but next week is lining up to be crazy work-wise, so I'm going to be doing a lot of running and won't have a lot of time to think about food. I live alone, so stopping to cook a meal doesn't always happen for me and I end up eating lots of Protein bars and cheese. It's getting boring. So, here's my plan for the week. I've cooked sausage and bacon for breakfasts this week. I'll have a piece or two alongside a yogurt/cottage cheese …

I thought I would share this information with people. I added this supplement to my diet. I do not take as many as you are suppose to. Studies show that 3400mg is the optimal dose of CLA, but I only take 1 capsule a day A) They are a little pricey I have a crappy memory and never remember to take it more than that! CLA is suppose to help the body burn fat. I was already losing when I started taking it, so I am not sure if it has made a difference or not. But I have noticed that I have lost a few more pounds and inches, so it can't be hurting (I am 20 months post op at below goal). I also read that Tonalin CLA is one of the best and purest, so check that your sup…

Well I just had my surgery and will be on the full liquid diet for 4 weeks total. One thing I can't stand is that my mouth always has a bad taste like milk or protein drinks. It makes me want to drink water but I can't sip enough at this point to freshen up. Aside from brushing my teeth anyone recommend a sugar free something I can suck on? Obviously not gum and I'm not a huge mint fan.
