Is there such thing as a protein bar that has low carbs and low or no sugar? If it could taste good too that would rule. Please point me in the right direction. How long after your surgery were you able to start eating your protein bars?

The sugar free ice tea packets we add to our water, do the contain caffeine? I know we are not suppose to be drinking caffeine, not sure why, but do you think they are safe to use? I have been with no complications but I want to check.

So ladies and gentlemen, I have thought of a pretty good idea. I went to the store (Target) but also you can go to the grocery store or Walmart. I bought: a binder page protectors dividers highlighters colored pens one folder I sat for two hours on my computer and looked up recipes for all different stages of our post-op diet. I separated all the different diet recipes that I liked. And also separated them into Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Desserts, and drinks. This makes it easier for quick reference to make meals. Also it is easier to plan a week's worth of meals. And also for food shopping! I put all my important paperwork gathered so far from all my doct…

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel the same? Talking about a requirement to purchase a certain product as part of the must-do's in order to fulfill my obligations for weight loss surgery. I must purchase Bariatric Advantage products exclusively from the hospital for pre-surgery diet products and post-surgery products. For some reason this keeps gnawing at me as wrong. I have no choice as what product I can purchase other than what's presented to me. Looking at the cost of the products needed, it'll cost about $500.00 +/- to get my supplies (3-months worth). I'm on a fixed (retirement) income and can ill afford $500.00 for anything! When I go in for my endoscopy th…

A friend of mine had posted something on FaceBook about carb free cinnamon bread from Julian Bakery. I searched on Google, and they had it at Whole Foods. So while I was up theat way today, I bought some. Must be refigerated. VERY expensive. $8.39 per loaf. ZERO carbs. They also had Sourdough for $10.00. I bought both since I figured it would last awhile in the firdge. The girl said as long as it was refrigerated it would last indefinitely. When I got home, I toasted a piece of the cinnamon. OMG! How grotesque! I buttered it too! I spit the entire bite in the trashcan, couldn't even swallow it. I also tried the sourdough which has 1 carb. It was just as bad…

I'm an emotional eater, which is what got me to the 314lbs I am today. Here lately I have been eating everything imaginable like every day is the last supper. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 7th and I'm feeling like I'm eating this way because I know after that date, I will no longer have that crutch. I quit smoking 2 years ago, so I no longer have that vice either. I really want to focus on preparing myself for this life changing opportunity. I'm worried that this could mean I'm not ready to have the surgery. I want it so badly, but I don't want to just set myself up for failure. Has anyone experienced this overwhelming urge to eat everything they can and want, just…

Yesterday at trader Joe's I saw a small package of Citterio genoa salame and provolone slices. Only 3 oz. for the entire package. There are 4 slices of each of the salami and the cheese. They are thicker slices and about the size of an old silver dollar. 210 calories total for the entire 8 slices, but I can only eat 4 of each at once, so only 105 calories for lunch. Would be great if you have to pack your lunch. Put mustard between the meat and the cheese and ate 2 Vlasic Dill Snack'umm's with it. Very tasty and now I will probably have that for lunch every other day. I think it was 1.99 for the package. I am normally not a salami person, but these are chewy and …

I was stalled for about 5 weeks and started drinking this once a day (you could do it twice a day if you want). I've lost 1 1/2 pounds in three days. It's also great for helping with regularity, which we sometimes have an issue with. 2 scoops Herbalife wild berry protein beverage mix 1 serving Herbalife active fiber complex 1 serving Herbalife herbal aloe 8 oz. water The beverage mix only has 70 calories, 15 grams of protein, and 0 sugar. The active fiber has 5 grams of fiber. The beverage mix comes in wild berry or peach mango and the fiber comes in unflavored or apple. If you want to give it a try, you can order off my website. The shake mixes tastes gre…

I'm a fan of a bit of peanut or almond butter in my Protein shakes...but not a fan of the fat. Imagine my excitement when I found organic powdered Peanut Butter at the market. Made by Betty Lou's Inc. One TBSP added to my vanilla shake was yummy! I only use one, but serving size is 2 TBSP. NUT facts: 45 cals 1.5 fat 5g carbs (2g sugars) 4g protein Apparently you're actually meant to add a TBSP of Water to make PB nice because I can throw in a baggie with Protein powder on the go

I am 15 days postop and have found that warm liquids go down much easier than cold ones. I've read quite a few people who have commented about that too so I'm assuming it is common. My question is if that is always the case or just something that is common in the short term following surgery?

As a former diet Coke-aholic (last one one on March 27th), I am drinking Water and only water. Crystal Light and all other powdered water flavorings tend to upset my tummy and/or give me heartburn. Tea especially gives me heartburn. I've never tried MIO, though. Thoughts? Do you guys have any other suggestions for flavored drinks I could try?

I was sleeved 3/24/11 and dud great for the first 6 months and then hit a freaking wall!! It took me 6 months to lose 60 and I was okay with that but I have been stuck since September and can't budge. Have actually gained about 5 pounds and not happy with myself. I know that I should be eating more dense Protein but I have a hard time with it. It's amazing how your taste buds change. Have no desire to eat eggs and the thought of tuna fish makes me sick. Just can't do either of those anymore. I crave Chobani Greek yogurt with 1/4 c of granola and could eat that 3 times a day. Almost addicted to it. It's the only meal I get any satisfaction from these days. I also cr…

I was sleeved on April 12th and I am doing very well. I get my protein in via Lean Shakes and for dinner I eat chicken. My issue is that I am getting sick of chicken. All other meats don't seem to sit well with me. I am very good with bacon for some reason. I can also eat some nuts as a snack. While I was PMSing, Nutella and little pretzel stix were good too but I couldn't eat very many. The nutella seemed to hit the need for something sweet. My issue is that I don't like to make a "meal" becasue I can't eat much of it. I cook two chicken breasts and then take 2ounces at a time and mix with some lomein or I just eat it plain. So, what are you all eating and ho…

Hello all! I was sleeved on 4/16/12 and I lost 30 pounds very quickly. I've been stalled for the last two weeks. My bariatric surgeon deployed so I'm seeing a general surgeon for the moment. He says 1500 calories a day is about right and his nurse says 500. I picked 800 calories to be in the middle and I very rarely have that many. So my question is how many calories does everyone else have? I'm 5'3" and 220. Im starting to get very depressed, what's the point of the surgery if I don't break 200? Is 220 as low as I'm going to get?

I had my surgery on May 21st. I have been advanced to the mushie stage, and then placed back on liquid only diet. Most every type of food I consume makes me ill. It's like I'm having an allergic reaction to food. I break out into a cold sweat. I feel lightheaded and lethargic. I become slightly disoriented and then I want/need to sleep. This last for approximately 45 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey there! I'm often finding myself getting to 7 or 8pm with all my Protein (90-100g) and fat (10g) met, but at around 500 calories for the day. Trying to be more in the 600-700 range. I've been doing a Protein shake but don't really need all the extra protein (and don't want to cause kidney stones since I'm still capping out at about 50oz of water/liquid a day). I've never been one to drink calories, and don't want to get in the habit...but until I start real food in another week or two, any ideas on drinks that will give me about 100 calories without any fat that aren't awful for me (prefer no more than 5-10 carbs) I'm 3.5 weeks out

I was suppose to start Stage 3 on Saturday. I went shopping for the family tonight and when I got to the Soup aisle I felt depressed. I just couldn't do another day of pureed soup for dinner. Last night I barely ate it. So I purchased a can of seasoned lemon pepper tuna. I mashed it up well with my fork and all I had in the fridge was regular mayo (I have to buy LF) and mixed a little in. I was nervous as heck! I put a very small amount in my mouth and chewed at least 40 times until it was gone. Not very much to swallow. I didn't eat much because I'm nervous. I see my NUT tomorrow and she officially gives me the clearance. I'm so excited. Scared but excited. TMI:…

Hello all! I was sleeved on 04-24-12 and I'm curious to know what were/are you eating and how much at Week 6 ? I can eat 4-6 table spoons at the most of soft food and that's 2 times a day, if that. And chicken, I can barely eat 2 tables spoons full. Is this normal? And I can only drink about 20-40 oz of liquid a day :-/ Thank You in advance to your response.

Hi everyone! So question for the old expert sleeves out there.. I am a chili fanatic..I used to like hot things..but now I am so used to having lightly spiced foods secondary to being sleeved 9 weeks ago. My question is when do you eat spicy food again? I tried some baked chicken breast meat with some seasoning spice and honestly ..it was too much..this from someone who loves habernos. So ..is this something that could be incorporated later? Thanks for the help in advance!
