Hi everyone! I need some ideas for some fast grab Proteins. I unfortunately can not tolerate Protein shakes and tend to just grab a cheese stick when I need something fast. My biggest problem is cheese sticks are getting real boring and I can't think of anything else that's fast and easy.

I like to make ham/tuna/chicken spreads to have on crackers. So far I eat them on saltines. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good choice of cracker that is sleeve friendly? I haven't worried about it much so far because I eat so few calories but it's time to look at the long haul. Should I look for a low carb cracker? If so, any suggestions. The cracker aisle at my grocery store is filled with many, many, many choices of crackers. Frankly I don't have the time or the patience to read each one to check the carb count etc. Then again, maybe it doesn't matter what the carb count is because I can only eat four saltines, with spread on it, at a sitting anyways? Your input w…

I'm now hitting the 7 week post op mark and for the past few days and i'm not feeling so great about food. First of all i have always been a food lover. I love(d) to eat and try new foods and now it is actually a chore to eat. It takes me about 30 mins to finish breakfast which is usually a kabipro protein shake and then another 15 mins to get the courage to swallow my gallstone medication and then my glucophage which i take for insulin resistance. After all that i feel so drained of energy i've actually been going back to bed and then starting my working day at 11.00am. To top that off i keep feel nauseous. Is anyone else suffering from these symptoms? Any clue on what m…

Hi, I was just wondering from those of you that are eating salads, how much can you eat? I make a salad with a cup of lettuce, 4 oz of fake crab, 1/4 of a tomato, 1/4 of a bell pepper with some free thousand island ( just an example) and I can eat most of it...it takes about a hour, sometimes a hour an 15-20. Just wondering?

Hi everyone! I'm only 9 days post-op, but I'm worried I may not be getting enough calories. My surgeon's paperwork doesn't specify calorie goals. I figured about 800, but I'm not even getting 500. Should I be worried or will I get more calories in once I start soft foods? Thanks for any advice!!

I'm 12 weeks out, curious when most of you tried or had success reintroducing red meats? I enjoyed a nice steak from time to time, or meat sauce with pasta. But I've heard it can be hard on the new stomach for a while. I would just like to know if my husband grills a filet mignon that I can have a few pieces with veggies? Or making a nice meat sauce (lean beef w/some turkey) to put over spaghetti squash in place of pasta. It's so amazing if you haven't tried it!

My stomach is completely healed and I am eating about a cup a meal. Some foods use to hurt, but now everything is tasting good without any discomfort. Now that I can eat anything, I am having a hard time resisting sweets. I am 18 months out and I am really fighting to keep this in check. Anyone else having this head hunger problem? If so any suggestion to overcome it?

I ran the numbers for my BMR, how many calories I am burning on a daily basis, and how many calories I am taking in. The numbers are rough of course but if my calculations are mostly correct, and it takes a deficit of 3500 calories to burn a pound, then I should lose 2 pounds by Friday, today is Monday. People are so fond of saying calories in-calories out, so I am out to prove it true - or not. What do you think might happen?

Hi all, kindof my first post here, but my wife will be sleeved on 05/15/12, and I want to be of as much help to her as possible. Being a chef, this surgery will definitely challenge my thought process when it comes to meals. I was wondering if freshly processed vegetable juices would be something that would be allowable in addition to any protein powders that were purchased for post op consumption?

Starting at 3 weeks I can have toasted bread, thin deli meat and cheese so I'm wondering about a Subway Club? Does your sleeve seem to tolerate that bread ok toasted? I'm sure I could only get a few bites in but just wondering about the bread. Also, trying to figure out where to eat for my daughter's birthday that I can eat too at 3 1/2 weeks. Possibly anything Mexican or thin and crispy pizza?

Came across this idea online a couple of weeks ago and can't even remember where, so I make no claims to this being my idea. An easy way to fit in your 5 a day is with a smoothie. The base for the smoothie is a cup of spinach and 2 bananas - then add fruit and veggies as desired. My usual is; 1 cup spinach (I use frozen) 2 bananas 1/2 cup strawberries 1/2 cup sliced apples (with peels) 1 small can sliced pinapple with juice 1 cucumber (with peels) 1 pack berry blend Protein mix Enough Water to blend It's quite tasty! You don't "taste" the spinach but you sure see it, and the cucumber gives it a fresh flavor with no real taste because the sweetness of the fruit…

I would like to move towards a plant-based diet (a la Esselstyn), but I've heard that post-surgery, people don't tolerate whole grains well. Please share your digestive changes with me and inform me on what to expect - Please!

I am going insane. Around every time I have to eat, all I want to do is cry. Is anyone else having problems finding things to eat? I have had the exact same thing multiple times a day since last Saturday. My day consists of this. Wake up, make myself a smoothie. Drink 4-6pz of that and use it to hide my meds....then I drink crystal lite and more of the smoothie until lunch time. Lunch and dinner consists of 1-2oz of tuna fish, and 1-2oz of lima Beans...sometimes I will get in less than an oz of apple sauce. Then at night I have more smoothie with my meds and crystal lite. I want to eat other things, but I just don't know what I can eat that will give me as much …

Ok, I brought a can of Trader Joe's cuban black beans to have for lunch...someone stole the can opener! Thanks goodness I had brought some string cheese and a apple too. I ate the apple, in slices, with a bit of peanut butter for lunch. It took over an hour to finish it but about 5 minutes after I thought I was going to hurl ( first time by the way since my surgery I have felt like throwing up) I walked it off and felt better after 15 minutes. Maybe it was too much for my sleeve? Anyone else have that happen with an apple? I have had spicy, bbq meat etc and no issues but a apple...really? I have also had apples since surgery ( well only two) and have had no issues, what …

I am 10 days post op. I am now off of "full liquids" "kinda", im starting to introduce myself to things like baked fish and tuna and boiled eggs. It hurts so bad after swallowing though! Its like really bad chest pain? Has any one else experienced this? Also I know its only been 10 days, but I dont see the weight coming off... Am I doing something wrong? I try to walk EVERY DAY but have a 4 yr old and a set of 6mo old twins, its hard to get out of the house everyday. I am very discouraged because I also don't have the "full" feeling yet. They say that its normal not to feel full on liquids but as soon as I start eating solids I will definately feel the…
