Easy Way To Increase Veggie/fruit Intake

Came across this idea online a couple of weeks ago and can't even remember where, so I make no claims to this being my idea. An easy way to fit in your 5 a day is with a smoothie. The base for the smoothie is a cup of spinach and 2 bananas - then add fruit and veggies as desired. My usual is;

1 cup spinach (I use frozen)

2 bananas

1/2 cup strawberries

1/2 cup sliced apples (with peels)

1 small can sliced pinapple with juice

1 cucumber (with peels)

1 pack berry blend Protein mix

Enough Water to blend

It's quite tasty! You don't "taste" the spinach but you sure see it, and the cucumber gives it a fresh flavor with no real taste because the sweetness of the fruits dominate your taste buds. As a bonus, adding this to my diet has broken my latest stall.

If anyone tries it, let me know what you think and any variations you've tried that are yummy (especially one with more veggies than fruit)

Thank you for posting this. Most juicers leave out the fiber, which is a problem for blood sugar. I'm going to give this a try.

This is a really healthy smoothie. Most have high sugar content. Thank you for sharing. ;)

Gonna try this in my Montel Healthmaster thingy!~ LOL - thanks!

I hope ya'll enjoy - also needed to note that you should freeze any portions you cannot consume withing 24 hours, tends to not settle too well after that amount of time, but defrosts fine - go figure :huh:
