When doing my blood work, I found out I have celiac. Disease. I am so stressed about getting sleeved and also trying to make sure I don't eat gluten. It seems to me that almost everything has gluten, it has got me down.

I am 6 weeks post op, down 28 pounds, cleared for "full foods". However, I can't seem to keep down meat, like steak, roast beef, spare ribs. I can eat ground meat. I think I am eating slow enough and chewing enough, but I stop after about one ounce because my stomach hurts and then a few minutes later;;;;up it comes. Is this normal? Does it ever change? I don't want to eat Greek Yogurt and shakes my whole life. I seem to do better with chiden and moist fish.... Thanks.

So I am almost 5 weeks out and I have been by the book to the T. Today I was at a friends house and they had dip and then pretzle nuggets and of course the chocolate m&m's. I sat there and was so good just drinking my water, I decided if i eat a few of the chocolate it wont hurt becuawse it will melt in my mouth. so i ate them and they were good. then i was thinking well a pretzle and the chocolate would be good together so I started eating an eating and eating.. I was of course chewing it till it was mush and then the next thing i knew i was drinking to wash it down. After about an hour of doing this I felt sick and soooooo GUILTY. It was insaine. I guess I can jus…

I went to a dinner for a "quick" breakfast and I had some bacon and eggs. Literally 3 bites later I starting to feel so bad. Sweating cold and shaking. Was it because of bacon or why with such a little amount would I feel like that? Any ideas? It's been 5 weeks since I got sleeved I had those things before and nothing. Leak? Irritation I'm concerned

My Nut. Booklet they gave me only states guidelines specific for sugar. To keep it under 5 gms per meal. But it only states to not eat anything too high in fat to avoid dumping. I'm just wondering if anyone else who has had the RNY where given a more specific number of fat grams to have? What's considered low fat for us?

Hi guys. I got sleeved Monday and am supposed to progress to full liquids today. I know the goal of the clear liquid diet was to get in 64 oz of liquid, but my guidelines say nothing about how much full liquid I can tolerate. For example: yogurt or creamed wheat, how much can I tolerate? Anyone know? Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hi, I'm new to the site and going through the approval process to get sleeved. I was originally planning to get the lap band but after lurking on this site, I believe the sleeve is the right option for me. I understand why you can't drink beverages at the same time with the band since it would just wash through but why can't you with the sleeve? Appreciate any feedback!

First off, can I just say I love this forum! You guys are freakin' awesome! Anyhow, I'm 4 weeks post op and I can't eat more than an oz at a time. And I still feel like crap after. I'm scared I'm stretching my tummy out. Even with the little amount of food. I'm thinking I may just stick to protein drinks the rest of my life. I have this paranoia that I'll gain the weight back and I don't want to go back to that weight. I know, it's more than one issue, but I felt like cleansing my soul. ; )

At the start of my bariatric journey, I bought, among other things, a vanilla cappuccino mix from my doctor, manufactured by a company called Health Wise. When I used it all up I wanted to buy some more, but when I attempted to call the company, which I located on line, they said that they do not distribute direct to the public....they only wholesale to the doctors. I thought I would have to find another brand, so I started looking and found one offered by Bariatric Choice called Bari-Wise and ordered two boxes. Guess what? The product is exactly the same, same packaging, same nutrients, etc. What kind of game are these folks playing? About a week ago, I ordered a…

Reading through some other threads I ran into something that seemed familiar. The OP had eaten some carb-rich foods on vacation and was now experiencing hunger issues. I know that I have to avoid sweets and other high carb foods completely, especially in the morning, or I will crave them all day. I'd love to hear the experiences of experienced sleevers with regard to this phenomena.

Tonight I realized I have developed a horrible new habit 3 weeks out from surgery. I am being very careful about separating fluids from food. Once in a while I will be drinking something and walk into the kitchen and find something my hubby put out on the counter that I really want. I noticed that I have begun cutting off a tiny piece and chewing it until most of the flavor is gone and spit it out into the trash can. This is embarrassing as I thought this was something only someone with an eating disorder would do. Its not that I don't want the calories, I actually do, because I am ranging between 500 and 800 today and that doesn't subtract from my 5 day a week work …

I was sleeved march 25. Almost 3 weeks ago. I'm hungry all the time. I'm kind of freaking out thinking I've already stretched my sleeve out. Whn I eat it's 1/2 cup at a time. Lo fat soups or tuna salad. I had a protein shake for breakfast, 1/2 cup lo at soup for lunch & just had a fat free pudding for snack. I feel like I could still eat more. Is this normal? I just started feeling the hunger for the last few days. Any suggestions or comments?

So......I had my 2 week appt yesterday with the nutritionist. She said I could start eating eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding, cheese and refried Beans. I'm allowed to have soft meat and hearty bean Soups if they're pureed. I should only be eating 1/4 cup each meal and getting @ least 800 calories a day. This is my problem........I am eating 1/4 cup (and I'm using a measuring cup) but I feel like I'm right on the verge of throwing up. I haven't yet but its right in the back of my throat. Should I just cut down my portion size?? I have been keeping a food diary since my surgery and I'm finding it hard to calculate all of my nutritional facts (Sorry but I'm OCD an…

Hi Everyone, I found this recipe for these Cookies this weekend, when I was reading a magazine. Smart Cookie Heat oven to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Using an electric mixer, beat all ingredients in a large bowl until everything is completely mixed together. Drop a teaspoon full of cookie dough about 1 ½ inches apart on the cookie sheet. Bake until the cookies are puffed and starting to lightly brown around the edges. Bake the cookies 8 to 10 minutes. Let them cool on the sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. 1 Cup Chunky or Creamy Peanut Butter—I used JIF Extra Crunch ¾ cu…

OK. I am almost 3 weeks post-op. I have eaten too much once, don't ever want to do that again. I am still not getting how to eat ! I get hungry quickly because I am not filling up because I am afraid of eating too much ! Can someone help me out please. I have lost 7 lbs since surgery and not a pound more. Obviously I need to eat to lose. I cannot seem to get the carbs under control either. (which could also be why I experience some hunger)

Found a great book in my search for recipes yesterday as I am going to enter the Purée stage tomorrow. It's called Before and After by Susan Maria Leach. She has Gastric Bypass Surgery in 2001. The book was updated in 2007 so I felt it was recent enough to read for some ideas. I found it enjoyable reading even with some of the differences between the sleeve and bypass surgeries. The eating is pretty much the same -- protein first carbs last. There are some absolutely fantastic recipes for the purée and soft foods stages. I can't wait to try them. There is an especially yummy sounding recipe for shrimp salad I cannot wait to try. You can download this book for eReaders. I …

Ok guys and gals quick question......... I just want to point out I do not remember what my NUT said my calorie intake should be and have been going about my post op diet with the mindset nothing I ate before is ok (lol) and really taking the stages into consideration. So I set a goal for myself and would like to know if it is realistic. I use myfitnesspal and based on my preop weight and weight loss goals they set my calorie intake to 1200. I lowered it myself to 1000 but I am so pleased and feel successful if I reach over 600 and ecstatic if I can get to 800 without a candy bar lol. So that is #1 is that a good sound caloric intake to be at? Under 1000 over 600 th…

I was interested in ordering the cheese sauce from Unjury. I have heard wonderful things and didn't get my surgery until April so now I am dying to try it. After surgery, I kept logging on and it said sold out for about 2 weeks. At the end of two weeks the page said it is apparently only shipped from October to April. Hi everyone. I am two days away from being sleeved (yay!!) and have a question about the post op diet. I know sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles are allowed, but what about no sugar added? Everything I've checked out has a smallish amount of sugar in it, like the fruit juice bars I found this morning. They had 8 grams of sugar each, I assume that is natural sugars? Just thought I might ask for your thoughts Almost forgot, what about aspartame? Is that permitted in place of sugar?

I'm still on mushy diet but can go to regular food next week. I am not worried about my carbs at this point because there aren't many low carb soups.. beans..etc that I can eat at this stage. When I go to regular food I am kind of torn about doing low carb vs "regular" food. Before surgery I have been an off and on low carber for years (20 or so carbs a day). I did not always stick to it or I would not have needed the surgery. Assuming I get my protein in ... Should I still be doing low carb? 0r just eat small amounts of healthy foods including starchy stuff? I have about 100 lbs to lose and would like some opinions.

Ok I know that might sound like a really dumb question but.......today has been 2 weeks since my surgery. I'm still in the "liquid" phase although I get to have blended soups. My instructions were to start with 4-6 oz an hour and increase to 8 oz as tolerable. I can drink a 16 oz water over the course of about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs so of course that's more than 8 oz in an hour. I also hear others on here talking about how they can only hold 1 - 2 oz of food per meal. So how is it that I can take in so much more fluids? Do they pass straight through my sleeve and don't really fill me?? Where solids actually sit in your stomach? Just wondering! I didn't know if I'm stretching my sl…

I was just reading the thread about "How Do You Get Your Protein" and it made me wonder about this. What foods do you eat now that you seldom or never ate before surgery? For me, it's Protein drinks and Protein Bars. Pre-surgery, I'd have never considered eating/drinking either. I also have found myself eating a lot more seafood (shrimp and fish) and steak/beef than ever before. In the other thread, I noticed that others seem to eat things that I wouldn't have considered before like cans of tuna and greek yogurt. So, what new food habits have YOU picked up since surgery?

Hi all, just thought I would put this out there ... I am always open to suggestions! Over the last 3-4 weeks I have been really tired, and I mean post op 'heavy' tired. I have been having nanna naps after work and sleeping quite heavily... I haven't done this for a very long time... well, since I got my sleeve! This tiredness, in turn, effects my motivation to actually do anything be it work related, exercise or general conversations... it isn't every single day, but many times a week! I have been under a lot of stress in work and and feeling a little blue on occasions... but normally, by this time of year ( my work stresses are predictable due to time of year for w…

I am a Water chugger and have worried about controlling that once I am postop. I recently bought one like this only in pink: http://www.camelbak.com/Sports-Recreation/Bottles/2012-Groove-Insulated-6L.aspx It has a bite valve. The part you drink from is a pliable plastic. Think baby bottle nipple. Anyway, it come with a straw which I immediately removed. All you have to do is raise the bottle up like you would any water bottle without one. There is still some sucking but not like you would if it had a straw. I dont know how much water you'd get if you left the straw in but without it, it greatly reduces the amount of water you take in thus you don't chug. Perfect s…

Ok, to yesterday I went to the Dr for my 2-week check up. Ended up in the hospital overnight for dehydration. Feel 90% better today. Dr also changed me to a soft diet and we talked a little about what that would include, but I need some practical help from those that have been through this. He told me moist meat, thought chicken would be too dry. He also said I could have fruit with no seeds, no skin and nothing packed in syrup. No veggies because they might cause stomach upset. So, what does all that boil down to. All I can see is tuna mushed up with a little low-fat mayo, ... Would this be a good time for the lasagna cupcakes (and other types) that I have seen on th…

Ok, I'm a few days into week 3 post-op. So far, I'm doing great. No nausea, great energy, eating "mushies" just fine. But I'm DYING to take a sip of Water or SOMETHING while I'm eating! ESPECIALLY since it takes so long to eat so little! I was eating egg salad earlier and dying to have a sip of water. But I know I can't eat and drink right now... I'm sure this topic has been discussed a lot, but does it ever change??? Will I ever be normal again, and be able to eat and drink at the same time???? This really is the hardest obstacle thus far, for which I am very grateful, but I'd still love to know there's an end in sight
