For those of you already eating after surgery, what do you do first in the morning? Do you eat or take in liquids? I've found that since my metabolism has sped up a bit I usually wake up hungry. (I used to be able to go until about 1pm on coffee alone). Problem is, I wake up thirsty too!

I'm just about 6 weeks post op and I LOVE the people on this site! My question is, I keep hearing people use the term sliders. What is this? I'm just curious to know from what I know so far its foods we should avoid but what does it mean if a food is a *sliders*

Who's drinking milk? My RN and surgeon believe that after RNY that people become lactose intolerant, but my nutritionist disagrees. I've been adding 8oz of 1% milk to my Protein shakes and have been ok but when I made a Protein shake with only milk I got nauseous (but I did drink too fast as well). My nutritionist said I could have skim or 1% but I've been bad when I get a latte and get 2% because we don't have 1% at starbucks (where i work) and skim is gross with espresso ;/ - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Someone posted before about some sugar free dark chocolate bars from Trader Joe's. I bought one last week and they are really good. Although I never like dark chocolate before, I do now. they are sugar free and carb free (I can't remember how many calories, I don't have the wrapper anymore). There are 4 servings per bar, but each serving has 3 little squares you can break off, so you can just eat one of those. Just something to keep around for an added treat. It will last a long time!

I'm psyched out its tuna fish and cracker day!!! I don't ever remember being this psyched about tuna fish before...guess that what happens when you lived on liquids for so long. Yesterday I had oatmeal and a little bit of bake potato. That went well...now hopefully this does! Meanwhile my family feast on Popeyes fried chicken

Tomorrow is the day for me. Surgery starts at 8:30 am. This has been an amazing journey so far, I enjoyed following each of your stories and now my very own will take form. For those who have never been overweight, it's impossible for them to understand what makes us a family. They will never really know what this transformation means on a spiritual or psychological level. There are no words to describe what it feels like not to fit in a chair, or to get stuck. The fear of flying because you know you will spill over into the next seat. Excluding yourself from vacations because you know you can't ride the rides. As I fade into my medically induced sleep, I will be checkin…

For example, here is what I had today: Breakfast - atkins oatmeal/cinnamon square - 140 cal Lunch - 1/2 of atkins caramel cafe protein shake - 80 cal mixed veggies w/ olive oil - 140 cal Dinner - 4 mini turkey meatballs - 140 cal Snacks - 2 Popsicles - 120 cal 3/4 of atkins peanut butter snack bar -115 cal 735 total calories The reason I ask is, I am worried I am stretching my sleeve. One second I am hungry and only a few bites later, I feel like I need to puke from being so stuffed. It's like there is no middle ground. I am worried that because I get to the point where I feel so filled up that my sleeve is stretching. Thoughts?

I guess I'm reaching out to those who have been sleeved for quite some time. I am only one week post op and have made good efforts to transform my gulping into sipping when drinking. When I slip up and forget and it goes down, my body definitely reminds me to take it easy next time. Does that ever get any better??? I'm not talking about shotgunning a beer, I'm talking about when I get back in the gym and go to aerobics class and we take a water break and I'm winded, thirsty and need to rehydrate. Before surgery I could probably take down 32 ounces of water during a class easily and sometimes had to fill up after class and would drink another 32 oz. Will there ever be a ti…

Okay so I've spent the last 2 days looking at online shopping for ramekins and they are pretty hefty in price for decent looking ones so now I'm just curious where did you guys get your ramekins? I'm not so worried about price but I wanted to get a set of 4 or more if I could. So I'm just curious where you guys got yours. I'm going to go to Walmart later today and see if the only ones they have are the plain white ones. I don't mind those.

At my support group last month, the topic of water came up and some of the members reported being able to drink only certain kinds of bottled water - one said she could only tolerate Fiji. I don't have that issue - I can drink any kind of bottled water; however, I'm wondering what other people out there like. Do you buy the store brand? I picked up 24 bottles for $2.71 at CVS. Not bad, better than my tap at least.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how they tolerate acidic foods after being sleeved, specifically limes. Since I was a kid I have loved limes and put fresh lime juice on just about anything. My surgery is a little over a week away and Im having anxiety about not being able to tolerate one of my favorite things in the world. Help!!!

So i thought it was the actual taste of Protein powders that I cant stand and I finally discovered that it isnt. Its that nasty vomit inducing smell!! I am pre op and have about 2 weeks until my sleeve surgery and I must find a Protein powder that doesnt stink. The unjury chocolate splendor is actually pretty tasty.. if I plug my nose, and until I take a breath afterwards. OMG gross. I have tried a few brands at walmart, most of the unjury flavors and the smell of all of them makes me sick. How am i going to do this after surgery if I cant stomach these at all??

I'm getting sleeved on July 10th. We planted a huge garden this year, including 22 heirloom tomato plants. Realistically, is there any chance that I will be able to eat any of them? They'll probably be ready to eat around the beginning of August, but they're indeterminate and will produce until frost (I'm in northern Illinois, so October). So, 3 months out from my surgery.

I feel really bad that I have never mentioned bee pollen when we are talking of drinks and shakes and ways to get in your protien... Bee pollen is almost 25-35% protien, supports the good carbs, ALL essential amino acids - tastes gewd and more, more, more - most put it in a mortar or pestle, but I often cup it in my hand, smoosh it up with a finger and lick it off Yummy! I am not promoting this website, actually I do not get my bee pollen from here either, but they have an excellent page on the nutritional content: http://www.durhamsbeefarm.com/nutrition_analysis.htm

Took a lemo, rolled it till soft, cut it about 1 cm thick, about 3-4 pieces, cut into halves, put in a 16 oz Blender Bottle, put in ice but not the wire ball, put in my sweetner, and put on the top- and filled it full...shook a couple of minutes and let it set about 1/2 hour in the fridge, and shook again. MMMM - lots of vit c, and it is a perfect Houston evening drink!

Hey there. I'm currently going through this exciting process. Had my orientation beginning of June. During that the dietitcian said to start changing some habits now. I wanted to changed my Breakfast but I'm stumped on what to eat or considered healthy. My normal breakfast would usually be 2 cinnamon ego waffles, slice of cheese, glass of milk, or sometimes a cup of coffee. Any suggestions or example of what you all are eating pre-op would be helpful. Thanks!

Dammit I'm having a horrible day (friend died overnight, got little sleep, got into stupid but heated argument with coworker, went to run an errand for my mom and kept going the wrong way, then went to panerA to get some damn Soup and they took forever... Ok not forever but like 10 minutes to put soup in a to go cup) so I was just pissed and I had like five bites of bread and butter... And now I feel sick.... Why did I do that? Why did i think eating freaking bread would make me feel better? Free On another note I am down 65 lbs since 4-24-12
