I burnt out my blender that I had for years. Now that I am post op, I didn't want a huge blender so I got a magic bullet. My problem is it doesn't crush the ice. Does anyone have one? Can you guys post some recommendations? Or teach me how to use it. LoL

I was sleeved a month ago, and already lost 10 kilos (22 lbs) give or take. I'm very happy with the results but I'm a bit concerned about not having vegetables. I understand that we all have very little stomachs and therefore we must save room for the Proteins, but it still concerns me that most of my Vitamins come in a pill. Do they really replace my daily salads? The only fine part about being "on a diet" used to be making a fancy salad, which included tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, onion, red pepper, 5% fat Bulgarian cheese, some olive oil and lemon juice. It was both nutritious and fun to eat, but now I seriously doubt that I can stuff a single tbsp of salad into my …

In all my time as a sleever, nearly 2 years, I have never done this; what would happen if for say 10 days, a person ate zero carbs? Or, as close to zero as is possible, say less than 10 grams a day. Basically lived off of protein shakes make with water and plain protein. 1 hour exercise per day. What would happen? Just curious.

This is a general post in response to the questions about what to cook, or eat once you can have solid foods. I got everything on this plate from Central Market on Westheimer (an HEB grocery store). For those of you nearby - it is a wonderful market and nowhere near your typical food store. "raw food" or "a la carte" combos can be so nice! from 12 o'clock counter clock wise: feta cheese, olives, chick peas, sunflower seeds, heart of palm, honeydew (green) mango ( yellow) cantaloupe (orange), tortouga oil biscuit (think oil crisp cracker) and edamame...mmmmmm! I can't eat this whole plate - a fourth to third. I was going to post an after but I was assisted by the …

I'm 6 days post op and trying to go back to work. I have tried the past two days to get through a day at work with no success. I start well but my energy just wastes away in a few hours. Also my congnitive ability feels like its at a snails pace. I work in a job where I need to be on my game as much as possible. I feel fine from the surgery and think his has to be from the lack of potien and food in general. I had creme of chicken Soup today for the first time with success, feel like I can go with more complex foods. Should I try an egg, egg salad, any thing else? I will start shakes tomorrow as well. Has anyone else experienced just feeling dumber / slower? Please t…

Hi everyone. I tried to enter a list of high protein foods that I built in an Excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately the formatting was lost when I tried to enter it and it was too difficult to make any sense out of it. Working on alternatives!

ok so I'm post op day six and i've been struggling with the hydration issue. i can only seem to drink ice cold water with maybe a little apple juice for flavor, everything else hurts like mad or taste horrible. I've always been a big drinker lol (non alcohol of course) so my feelings are quite a bit hurt when former faves like powerade zero and even protein shakes (yea i actually liked those pre op) won't cooperate with my new and improved belly.

What are some of the best foods, to start with, as I begin my mushies? What foods to try with caution? And foods to stay away from.. Also, if I'm tryin a new food, how long after I take the first bite, should I wait to see if my body rejects it-- before I take another bite. Any advice or suggestions please <3 Cie

I'm home this week and watched Dr. Oz . He had a guest, Dr. Joel Furhman, who says that anyone can lose massive amounts of weight by just eating 90% "nutrient rich foods" (dark green, and all other non-starchy vegetables, berries, nuts, onions (?), and mushrooms (?)). There were several women guests who had followed his regimen - one lost 210 lbs, another 95, and I can't recall what the last one lost but they all looked amazing. Thing is... I'm torn! I'm upset that I don't get to try yet another diet (gosh, it REALLY looks like it would work and it seems so healthy) but on the other hand I am ecstatic that I DON'T get to try yet another diet!! hehehe ok, I'm fe…

I read a post on here before and I can't find it now. But it was telling about making little pizzas on pepperoni. I had them for lunch today and they were really good. You take sandwich size sliced pepperoni (I had trouble finding this size, but finally found it at a grocery deli counter), jar of pizza suace, shredded mozzerella, and whatever else you want on pizza. I put three slices on a paper towel in the microwave for 15 seconds. Then I spread pizza sauce sprinkled cheese, and sprayed baking sheet with canola spray, and broiled until cheese melted. I put chopped green olives on top since that's what i usually have on pizza. These were so good and filling and y…

I'm six months out and was having a hard time with dehydration and hunger so I started to make sure I was drinking 64oz of water a day at least per my Dr. So now that I'm drinking I figured it would help with some of my hunger between meals. I feel like I need to eat like every 2 hours. I'm trying to have healthy snacks with protein. I'm just afraid I'm over eating. Does anyone have this problem or any suggestions. I'm also wondering how many calories should we have a day?

My nutrition materials say to have at least 50 grams of Protein FROM supplements in addition to the food I eat. I've had one Protein Drink today so far. But I've already had 95 grams of protein so I'm wondering if I need that extra Protein shake. I wasn't given a total of protein I should shoot for each day. Just the grams from supplements. Obviously, I need to ask the doctor but it's too late today. I'm just trying to figure out if I should drink that last shake tonight. What say you?

Okay, I'm not sure if this is off-topic or not, or which forum to post this to. I have a great domain: DietGrub.com - and I can/do program (just not super great yet - I'm going to college and have a busy life - so if I could find a couple people to help with the project it would be cool... I have some ideas, so far the best one is kind of a user submitted review site for recipes, diets, Meal Replacements, supplements, surgeries, etc. The homepage would then list in columns the top 10 of each major category. Let me know if you'd be interested. Also if anyone has any other cool ideas for a web app I could do maybe something like Fitnesspal, Earnedit, or Fitocracy …

So it is the week before finals for me and I am super stressed. I just found out that my aid for summer is being slashed and I am about $1800 short for the summer. Between this and finals I stress ate two Cookies and now feel like crap. I knew I wasn't really hungry and still did it! I feel gross and bloated now. I never have a bad reaction really, I just feel icky. I know Hamilton doesn't like sugar and I have no idea why I just shoved those in my mouth. I feel ashamed a bit. How do you guys manage with stress? And don't you dare say, "Working out" I don't have time to! I feel bad even posting this when I should be studying Thucydides for my Greek Military Strat…

Now that I have everyone's attention, I have a question. I've been pretty conservative with my meals over the last 3 months since being sleeved. I haven't tried sushi, or Pasta, or rice, or bread, or anything really. I've been eating grilled chicken, lean steak, veggies...basic stuff. But I have to admit, I've been craving enchiladas over the last 2 weeks and the craving is getting stronger. Can I even eat an enchilada? I've been too scared to try it. But then I read people here who are eating stuff I would NEVER eat because I'm afraid it's going to kill me. Fast food? Toast? Sushi??? So anyway, am I just being a pansy about a lot of things and should I try to broaden m…

Hey all! I'm still pre op, but after doing a ton of research I know carbs are a big no no post op. I've read things such as bread, Pasta, rice etc aren't well tolerated after surgery. I can give up bread and rice, but I'm freaking out about pasta. I'm Italian, I can't help it lol. I probably make pasta in some way shape or form at least 2-3 times a week. I could REALLY use some pasta-ish ideas for post op (down the line of course) that I could use that would make me feel less like I'm giving it up completly. I've thought of things like spagetti squash, I've seen the tofu noodles (not sure of the name?) and I saw on the Eggface blog about zuccini pasta. Anyone tried any …

Has anybody puked mucus balls?! I didn't even know 'til my buddy who had a full bypass told me about hers. I thought I was a freak. It makes sense , most of us are on acid reflux meds and are missing parts of our stomach which produce acid. Today I puked a bubble the size of a softball, I'm surprised the damn thing didn't float away.

Glucomannan is an especially effective Fiber for making the ("normal") stomach feel full, so I am wondering.. is it safe to use fiber to induce some fullness after VSG? Though this may arise controversy because I am in fact talking about synthesizing fullness in an already reduced stomach, I'll tell you from experience glucomannan merely helped a bit with satiety when I had a "normal" sized stomach, if at all. I wonder if there are safety issues anyone is aware of from taking fiber after your stomach has virtually healed? I notice my stomach seems to have a greater and greater capacity every day, and though I absolutely recognize that it is no where near where it …

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been hit with a backlash of dissent in recent days for his proposed ban on the sale of sodas and other sweetened drinks in containers over 16 ounces. Some critics have gone so far as to say the mayor's proposal is a "fascist" attack on American freedom. Is soda really so unhealthy that it needs to be regulated? I think it is about time someone made a point. American capitalism is failing our health. I don't like the idea of big brother getting involved, but I am to the point that I feel something has to give. Have you ever watched TV after 6 pm? 3 out of every 4 commercials is food, candy or some other unhealthy garbage. Ju…

I know this gets asked a lot and I'm sorry. I just can't find what I want with the search function. I tend to snack between Breakfast / lunch and lunch/dinner. But I'm so stuck on the foods and want to find some more interesting ones. Right now it's usually boiled shrimp or cheese and crackers. I know the crackers are carby so I'm looking for something to substitute. I do make the cheese chips sometimes and that's good. But still looking for something that I can keep in the fridge and grab for a quick bite. I have been told over and over by my nut that I need to eat fruit because I get constipated all the time. Maybe all the cheese? So if anyone has a good fruit dip…
