  1. I am 5 days post op and my family came home with Little Cesar's pizza. And crazy bread!!!! My faves. :-( I am actually angry with them.... I WANT some!!!!! But then I feel bad. This is a choice I have made, not them. And someday I will be able to have a piece. I guess I just wish they were on this liquid diet with me. :-(

Okay - I'd like to have a list of the different kind of SF flavor syrups (Torani, DaVinci) that you guys enjoy and where you purchase them. I hope everyone is doing well - I've been very busy at work, so I haven't had as much time to check the board. Love to all.

I bought the sweetest watermelon night before last and it tasted great to me... too good I could not stop eating it even though it was filling me to the brim and I was getting miserable. I never did get sick ( unfortunately) but I do know that I cannot eat watermelon because I have no control. This is the first food since surgery on 4/11 that has had that control on me. Saying it to "my family" makes it all better. Thanks!!

Hey guys, I haven't been doing too good since my snacking is killing me but that's because I'm not planning my meals I was sleeved 4/9 and only 20 lbs down. Could anyone share any ideas for a high protein breakfast that won't include eggs or Greek yogurt as I can't see them anymore. Thanks!!!

I'm just beginning my journey and hope to have my surgery in early September. In the meantime, I'd like to start making some incremental lifestyle changes in anticipation of post-sleeve life. I'm buying a stationery bike and some hand weights to start an exercise routine, but I really need help on what diet changes will be most helpful at this point. I know that I will need to taper off of caffeine and eliminate my Coke Zeros all together. I also know that I'll need to get used to drinking water pretty much all day long. What about protein shakes? Sweets? Carbs? Medicine? I feel like if I'm focused on what I can control, the "long" wait wont drive me so crazy!!!…

I started my full liquid diet today yeah!! I am wondering what exactly is a full liquid? This morning I had a yogurt that I blended with some milk to make it thin. Could I do the same with Soups? I read somewhere that if you can drink it through a straw it is considered a liquid. I have a delicious Soup recipe I want to make~ and then blend into liquid. Would that be ok? Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Corinna

Was looking at their website and they have a sugar free mix for frozen beverages in a few flavors. Wanted to know if anyone's tried them? I really looooove a cafe vanilla frappuccino and it's too costly, I also wanted to mix it with my protein powder for flavor.

  20. I'm a band to sleeve revision 9 weeks out. I think I eat WAY too much. I just got a smart phone so I could download My Fitness Pal. For the last three days, I have finally been keeping track of my calories. I'm eating around 1500 calories a day, which just seems outrageous. Also, I feel like I have just plain poor eating habits. Like my old habits are not going to die. Sugary things are really hard for me to get away from, and I crave carbs. I have been hitting my 60 g Protein requirement pretty early, so that's not too big of a deal. I do good on Water, too. I don't do pop or alcohol, and I don't crave those things at all. Also, I have come across nothing, …

  21. One of the things I am doing in anticipation of my VSG surgery is experimenting with foods that will be allowable after the procedure. A few nights back I was taking my walk and found myself craving something sweet. When I got home I took care of the craving by eating 6 ounces of Chobani plain Greek Yogurt. It was one of the most filling things I've ever eaten and the nutrition is good. The taste, however, was not all that good. It reminded me of sour cream, which gave me an idea. Today at the grocery store I picked up some onion Soup mix and when I had my yogurt I tried adding some, effectively making the yogurt taste like onion dip, albeit much more healthy. It was de…

Hey there....only 7 days out and looking at my food intake. I'm getting about 2500mg of sodium a day, almost entirely from the soups I enjoy (blech to the low sodium!). This is around the rda...but certainly seems high compared to my caloric intake of about 400 calories a day. I'd anticipate it getting better when I move to mashies in about 2 weeks but don't want to slow weight loss in the meantime. Thoughts?

How did your surgeon progress you? I was discharged on full liquids, 18 days later at my "2 week" check up, I was allowed to eat soft foods, skipping purees (yay!). Next week, I go back for my 1 month follow up and I'm anticipating being progressed to the next stage. What is that, normally? Obviously, it varies wildly between programs, but what's next? After soft foods, what is there left to restrict when you're on regular food? Or is it everything as tolerated? I'm just very nosy and like to be prepared.

Ok so I stayed home from work today because I felt horrible in the morning (have my period). I've been so bored all day and I've found myself snacking... Mostly healthy like chicken breast or fruit or Greek yogurt... But then I had about 7 saltine crackers. I know I did it out of boredom and head hunger... I have food in the house that I'm supposed to eat... But I couldn't make myself stop! Now I'm completely full I guess what I'm asking is is it ok to mess up every now and then?

  29. Brief history: Sleeved on 4/10 w/hernia repair Hospitalized from 4/27 to 4/30 - unable to eat or drink without excruciating pain. CT scan showed inflammation and erosion (stomach and esophagus) from years of heartburn/reflux Started on Carafate (Sucralfate) on 4/27 (still taking it now) Doctor put me back on liquid diet (including yogurt and other things of that texture) 5/23 Doctor wants me to add chicken (soft, not pureed), fish and eggs to diet. I am a very heavy Water drinker daily, no joke. Almost my whole life even when at a correct weight I would drink a minimum of a gallon a day. Most times even more per day. I asked my Doc about fluids after surgery and said no problem. So my question is after reading about others sipping small amounts at a time. Will I cut way back on this habit or would issues arise? It sounds funny but all my life my daily water intake has been much more than most.

OK, I never in my life thought that I'd ask this question (I was always a huge volume eater), but here goes: Am I eating enough? I'm currently almost 12 weeks post-op, feeling quite good, losing weight, but I have this nagging feeling that I should be eating more. I have an appointment with my NUT in about 5 weeks, but in the meantime, I was wondering what others' experience has been with this. Until now, I haven't been weighing my food, just estimating how much I could eat and usually ended up leaving some over. Today I prepared what was meant to be two meals for my working hours (I usually eat four meals a day) and decided to weight it - it came out to just over an ou…

Hi all, I just needed to bounce this off some people. I am obsessed with the idea that I will stretch my pouch. I stop before I overdo it and although I have felt full quite a bit, I have never really felt pain. How can you tell if you are stretching your pouch? I am only 3 weeks out and am on mushy food, but I have found that means about anything moist that you chew well enough. I can't stop thinking about ruining my surgery. I am averaging 600-800 cals daily and really have to work for those. I have also been doing plenty of fluids. If I forget and don't give it a full half hour, mixing food and drink will make me vomit. All I wanted to do today was go out with my family and go have a good meal -- I wanted a hamburger and fries and a Coke. Now don't get me wrong. I know that what I have done will enable me to live a healthier life going further, but the truth is, I feel like I am mourning the loss of a good friend. So the nutritionist told me that they do not require the 2 week pre op liquid diet because they feel that their patients get burnt out since we have the Protein shakes for two weeks afterwards then move to soft foods like yogurt and stuff. I'm feeling for those of you who have to do that! Of course this doesn't mean I get to eat whatever up until the surgery. They want me trying different shakes and I've found I enjoy the myoplex. They told me to stop the caffeine, sugar and such so I'm steady working towards that.
