I just came from Costco and they were just putting out these 2-pack bowls of salads by Ready Pac. They had Chicken Ceasar (230 cal.), Santa Fe Chicken, and Spinach Dijon (with hb eggs, cranberries, almonds) (280 cal). I didn't get the Santa Fe one. They are 4.89 for a 2-pack and are complete with dressing and a fork in 4.75 oz. bowls, so that's only 2.45 a lunchh, and you could always add a little of the cooked ready to eat chicken breast strips they also sell for the ones that don't have chicken. I am eating one now with 2 Parmesan Crisps sticks from Trader Joe's and it is so good, I feel like I am in a restaurant. Ready Pac is definitely looking out for us sleever…

Hi everyone hope your day went well today! I have found the best greek yogurt ever, in my opinion... I had a hard time early on with plain Greek yogurt and since I am still taking potassium twice a day, I have to open capsules and mix them in food. So I have been trying different yogurts and thought I just simply could not eat Greek when I found "oiko's" fruit at the bottom Greek yogurt by Dannon. Friends once you mix this yogurt it becomes so creamy and yummy!! I had the vanilla, mixed in a squirt of sugar free Raspberry Torani syrup and added 2 tsp of low fat granola and it was super. Then today, I found strawberry fruit on the bottom...oh my! The strawberry has…

  5. Well I did it!! My first post-op meal of real food was today! I hate scrambled eggs so I made myself a fried egg (used tiny bit of Crisco olive oil spray), smashed it up real well with my fork. Also made a real tiny potato (mashed and blended in my magic bullet). Total food prepared was probably about 1/3 cup. I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat it all, but was counting on leftovers. I was able to eat 3/4 of the egg and about 1/4 of the potato. So about 2.5 tablespoons. Doesn't sound like much but after 3 weeks of liquids (no mushy stage) it was awesome and I was completely satisfied. I stopped after burping twice and my nose started to run a little bit! I had rea…

Help me!!! I'm getting addicted to watermelons! I and my mom finished off half a fruit yesterday! I had atleast about 10-15 small pieces and had to literally leave the kitchen to avoid temptation! The watermelons season has started early here in India and I see so many roadside vendors everyday on my way to office and it is getting harder for me not to stop and have a bite! I really want to know what are the cons of eating watermelon now (I'm 3 months out - 10 weeks to be exact). I started having watermelon juice some weeks before and I posted asking if it was okay and was told that it would be healthier to eat the fruit instead of the juice. Something about the sugar…

I currently have a band and am revising to a sleeve in 2 days. I don't understand when VSG patients talk about sliders. With a band, a slider was something that went quickly through my band's restriction, and into the major part of my stomach. With a sleeve, how can you have a slider? Where does it slide to, exactly?

Hello, I'm pre-op and trying different s/f stuff. It seems that i have problems with anything that has Splenda in it. After eating a chocolate for example, I get a headache, feel nauseous and then I have to go to the bathroom a lot. Anyone else experiencing this? And are there other s/f alternatives than Splenda? Any books/online resources for this? Please share.

  13. Hi everyone :-) Please bear with me if this post rambles, but I'm emotionally at a low point and need just a little bit of advice. I was sleeved on 1/24, so I am 8 weeks out. Per my doctor's instructions (in a booklet that he gave me) I have moved from soft food/mushies to "food food" as I call it. I have been basically eating what I was eating during my soft foods phase with some additions when I have to eat out (half of a chicken sandwich w/o the bun, etc). I am getting my fluids in everyday (or close to it), watching my portion sizes and I am at the gym at least 4 days a week. So im 3 weeks post op and just wondering. Does anyone else feel tied to food? For example In the sense of I dont want to study in the library cuz I have to eat every 2 hours and I don't feel like bringing all this food. Or id rather stay home cuz its just easier to eat a spoon of Peanut Butter here then in front of people. Maybe I'm just self conscious but this is getting kind of weird for me. I don't mind bringing the shakes and making those which at school kind of is a hassle but how do you guys do it if u have a long day? For example I work 11 hr shifts, my school days are 9+ hours, and I also volunteer. How do I take all this stuff around.

I have my first appointment with my dr on 3/29 and have decided (after about a year of back and forth) to go through with the surgery. Very scary thought of surgery but my ultimate goal of becoming healthier and more energetic with my daughter is important. I love to cook and I just want to prepare myself with different options to not get bored. If anyone has any suggestions I would really love to hear it!

Yesterday i bought a package of Amylu Chicken Burgers with carmelized onions and gouda from Costco. There are 10 in the pack, and they are wrapped in packs of 2 each. I left out two for our lunch today and froze the rest. They are sooo good and moist and very tasty I just put them on the grill for a few minutes. I have been having trouble with chicken not being moist enough for me after my sleeve, but these definitely are. Give them a try!

I am 9 weeks post op today and for a snack at work I brought a 2oz container of mixed nuts, mostly almonds. I ate about 4 almonds and decided to see if this was an issue. I honestly hadn't really thought much about it and I don't remember my doctor saying anything about nuts. Then again, that was over 2 months ago so who knows. Anyway, is it bad to have eaten nuts this early? What about whole wheat Pasta? I'm trying to branch out in my diet a little bit but I don't want to hurt my sleeve. Thanks!

So I went to settings and changed the Calcium column to potassium. Wow, I was totally shocked in the salt I eat. I'm already at 528 potassium That's not including the salt that I add to my food. 34. This surgery has been a journey and I've learned alot about myself in the last 4 months. But now that I can start introducing new foods....all I care to eat are greens!!!! Mustard greens, collard greens, spinach....I eat them everyday...several times a day. I don't eat anything else with it except for the greens. There is one other thing...I have to eat them almost pickled in apple cider vinegar. Weird I know!!! Can They Cause Weight Gain? Many people use artificial sweeteners to cut their caloric intake, but the very opposite effect can occur. New research shows that artificial sweeteners stimulate taste receptors that sense sweetness in both the esophagus and stomach. Anticipating energy, the pancreas releases insulin, an important hormone for accumulating body fat. At the same time, chemicals are sent to the brain’s satiety center, which becomes confused as to whether or not the body is actually receiving calories. The result? You feel even hungrier and less full, which can lead to weight gain. Are They Addictive? First, artificial sweeteners are substances some people fee…
