There is a dish at La Madeline that, presurgery, I loved. It is scrambled egg with Swiss cheese wrapped in a crepe and smothered in mushroom sauce. Soo good! Two weeks into mushies now, I've grown more experimental. I scrambled an egg using Pam in the pan, mixed with 1 tbsp. skim milk, pepper to taste, Morton's no salt (just a pinch), slice of american cheese (its what I had),I then made Amy's mushroom soup and poured two table spoons of soup over my egg. OMG it was so good!! And had a similar taste to my favorite dish, and far less fattening. Anyone else have some mushie experiments gone right?

Ok, so what is your favorite HIGH Protein food ( low carb / low fat) I've been leaning toward high protein but also high fat ( red meat / cheese / greek yogurt ). I know I can adjust those 3 to the lower fat versions. But what else ? I've never liked cottage cheese. Taste might have changed and I might try again? Suggestions on ways to eat it that are yummy? I don't mind experimenting and learning new tastes.... so let me know what you would recommend!?

Hello! Day 6 after surgery for me. I'm allowed to eat instant mashed potatoes, what are your opinions on adding shredded cheese, fully melted in? Just a small amount....do you think it will hurt my sleeve? I'm wanting something new to add to this week lol

I am not sleeved yet but have a concern for after I heal from surgery. I really like snacks that are crunchy. I thought celery until I heard how harmful it can be to some of us. I obviously prefer something low calorie, low carb. Any suggestions? thanks.

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has proposed a ban on the sale of sugary soft drinks over 16oz. The policy would "limit sugary drinks to 16 ounces or less at restaurants, mobile food carts, delis and concessions at movie theaters, stadiums and arenas. However, grocery or convenience stores are excluded from the proposed policy. Violation of the regulation would result in a fine of $200 each time it is transgressed." The proposal has created something of a broo-hah-hah with opponents saying that it would be a violation of civil and constitutional rights. What do you guys think? Good idea or infringement on personal freedom and choice? http://www.rttnews.com/1930305/…

I am scheduled 8/31 for my sleeve, I decided to stop the sugar now and hopefully that will be partly behind me when I start the pre op diet in a couple of weeks. I am on day two of no sugar (no bad carbs period) and I am having crampy muscles. Is that a possible side effect?

Ok I understand that all surgeons are different. Some are bariatric center of excellence some are not Some say rice some say no no rice Some say flat diet soda is ok. Other not Why isn't the food requirements at least all the same. I would think that would be a simple one for all to follow?

I am quite fond of a tropical smoothie with splenda and whey protein now. But they are 20 oz! Would they be okay to eat after surgery and it seems like I would waste a lot of one? Thoughts...

Hello! How many calories do you take in a day? When you're in a weight loss slump do add more calories or less? My NUT confuses me. I've been stuck at the same weight for about two weeks now. I'm three months post op, down 65 lbs and I'm "supposed" to get 800 calories a day. Thanks for your input.

Okay, maybe I'm overthinking this but it woke me up at 3am lol Having surgery in 9 days and this is the type of thing that keeps me up. We are suppose to eat 5 small meals a day. However, we are not suppose to drink at least 1/2 before and 1/2 hour after each meal. AND still need to get a minimum amount of Water in without gulping -- sip sip sip Seems like all i will be doing is counting down how much water, how many minutes, how much Protein, how much more time until cycle repeats, sip, sip, sip repeat. repeat repeat. now squeeze in exercise too....oh and don't stop living...and start living again. Yeah, I know. probably overthinking but I so want this to wor…

I guess I have been feeling depressed lately knowing that I will never just be able to sit down and enjoy a meal again. Eating isn't the same when you get full on 4oz of food. Does anyone else mourn food/eating? I am sad I will never have a calzone or a burrito again lol. I suppose my feelings are intensified by the fact that I am losing weight very slowly. It's been almost 5 weeks and I've only lost 20 lbs post op. I just miss food, the foods I will never have again, and the act of having an actual meal as opposed to 4 bites of food. I feel like im being punished...but i guess i deserve it. I abused my old stomach and turned myself into a disgusting cow. I'd be …

Its day five of this liquid crap. I'm craving a burger sooooo bad. I need something other than chocolate or vanilla. No way can I do this for two weeks. My head hurts constantly. If I cook up a small filet steak would the set me back. I just need to eat something with substance. I want to work out but I'm very weak and this headache won't stop. I've lost 12lbs since I've started. What do I do.

so with my husband gone all summer I am really not cooking that much but I had to give you guys a heads up. Once a week I have been going to Sam's Club and buying a whole rotisserie chicken for $5.99. I'll bring it home and take all the meat off the bone and put it in a tupperware container. It lasts me all week with myself and daughter. Their breast meat is really tender & juicey. Add it to a salad, use refried beans and salsa for quick mexican dish. There are so many possibilties. my favorite is just adding grilled mushrooms with low carb/sugar BBQ sauce to it. The dog loves it to because if there are any leftovers at the end of the week he gets a treat

I'm newly sleeved and am still on full liquids, but I have a few questions. Before my surgery I lived off pasta, pizza, and tacos. just wondering if it is possible to still have these things every once in a while? I have heard that breads upset most peoples stomachs..so I know pizza will be limited, but what about a taco shell?

Found this great app for smartphone users. You can set up what you want (protein) and what you don't want (added sugar) and it will give you a food score, quick list of nutrients, and alternatives. You can also scan barcodes. Super helpful in the soup aisle yesterday. I scanned a can of soup and it gave me a quick list of better options. Also very helpful for allergies. Tells me quickly which products contain egg ( my son is allergic). Eat well!

I love eggs... Always have, always will. Any way you cook them, I'll eat them, but since being sleeved I've discovered that unless they've got ketchup on top (something I never would have eaten before,) I can't eat them. chicken HAS to have BBQ sauce on top no matter how it's prepared, broccoli has to be steamed plain with no cheese... I realize that food wise our tastes have changed but I'm just curious what other "weird" food preferences others have now that they may not have had before.

And if I do consume these things will I just get a upset stomach or is it dangerous/cause a block? Confused: /

I have a question to anyone that has already had their surgery, my orginal date for surgery was 7/9, but it has been changed to 8/1.. this is my dilema, I am going on vacation to California on 8/15, my family lives there and we will be celebrating my parents 60th wedding annivesary. I am concerned because it will be so soon after and I will still be in the soft food stage. I want to have it before I go because I've been waiting so long. So my question is do I have it before vacation or wait till after ?

I love blueberry yogurt but even the Greek ones are high in carbs which is not good. But after searching the Carbmaster series of yogurts, they fit the bill. With only 4g of carbs and low cal at 60 to boot. Yes, I can have my blueberry yogurt again. Protein is about between a regular yogurt and Greek one so a scoop of protein would not hurt.
