Im going to the state fair today. I'm nervous because of all the food I used to eat I know I won't be able to touch! But I did Use the food finder and found some healthy options surprisingly! They have frozen fresh fruit on a stick and they have some stands that only make grilled food! I guess I know what I'm having for lunch! I just hope I can stay away from the cheese curds lol!

One of the best articles I've read in a long time from Cornell University food pshchologist Brian Wansink, PhD. Fascinating stuff, easy to apply. Looking forward to reading what everyone else thinks!! http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20110805/ways-combat-mindless-eating

I am wondering because what I am thinking now if my food intake is restricted tremendously now, I want to ENJOY every bite unlike before when it could be dog food and I would just woof it down. There are some favorite foods I enjoy now and hope I still enjoy them after just in less quantity.

i am pre-sleeve and This is a question I WILL ask my nut at my next and last visit in 2 weeks: i understand Protein, protein, protein, cabs after...if they fit. What I never hear is fat intake. Being an RN and doing atkins a few times I know that fats are essential for Vitamin absorption, and in Atkins diet it actually helped with weight loss ( something about not all fats are absorbed, give you a full feeling ). What are the ideas here?

I think I'm losing it! I had surgery Aug 14th, I came home from the hospital on Thursday night. Since Friday evening all I want to do is cook. I'm not hungry, I'm not interested in even eating the food (not even to just lick it)! My family and in laws certainly don't mind, but what is going on? I'm spending so much time on pinterest gathering recipes and it's nothing I can eat. I spent 2 hours cooking in the kitchen just yesterday. Has anyone else gone through this?

Disgusting subject but once I hit puberty constipation and I became intimate friends. The docs never had an explanation, just that it appeared my colon was too efficient and soaked up too much Water and made me, um, stuck. I've tried a few things, most have no effect or make me cramp really badly, have to go unexpectedly urgently and I was always afraid of getting hooked on OTC meds and making things worse. Someone, can't remember who but god bless you whoever you are, suggested chia seeds as a way to keep from getting hungry. I started taking them, 2 teaspoons in a SF chocolate pudding at lunch and 2 teaspoons in a yogurt after dinner. And things have been moving be…

I ate a 3oz chicken thigh that I would have chopped up and put on wheat toast with mayo & seasonings but decided not to. And for me, that's huge since I would've made a sandwich in a heartbeat. Has anyone else found themselves not doing something (pre-surgery) that came oh so natural to you that now (post-surgery) you just don't want to?

So, in order to reward myself for hitting the gym today, I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch of sashimi. Well, I've been to this place before but did not realize it changed to an all you can eat place till I sat down at my table. The waitress looked at me like I was crazy when I just ordered some salmon sashimi. I want to eat everything on the menu!!!!!

"Perhaps you and Larry will join us for the consumption of mass quantities this weekend... will we ignite our new flame pit and char some mammal flesh for you..". Beldar Conehead It's nearly 7 months now since sleeving. I've lost over 100 pounds since embarking on this war on superfluous body composition. At first I mourned the loss of hours of mindless consumption. Nothing to do while watching TV but watch TV. No building the egos of the cooks in the family by gorging on mounds of their culinary belly-whompers. No more hazy stupor of gluttony's aftermath. But then the fruit of restraint began to manifest. Clothing became flattering. Energy arrived with a veng…

I Am post op by 5 days and having a really hard time getting in my protein. I am drinking milk and can have cream of wheat and sugar free pudding. But any protien shakes are not going down well. I take little sips and not really working. Just wondering what helped others the first couple of weeks post surgery. Any help is very appreciated. I am really worried about not getting my protien in and losing my hair.

3 months out, and the "natural" taste (spit and stuff I guess?) tastes like vomit. I'm not throwing up, but my bm have been really loose. (sorry!!) bit of background, I had a leak, stent to fix it was removed about 2 weeks ago. I'm on primarily liquids but a touch of mushies (experimenting, even though I'm only supposed to be on full liquids again but I'm legit hungry tummy grumble and all!). Average day= vitamin water xxx, a freezer pop, 1/2 a cup sf pudding, and a tbs or 2 thoroughly chewed to liquod ground beef. I "eat" slow enough and wait my 30 mins before/after. I get my 3oz of liquid in per hour (as per drs order) and sometimes more, can't seem to quench the thirst…

I have been buying Starbuck's Tall Skinny iced lattes for several months at 3.25 per drink! Yesterday when I went to the Bariatric Advantage place to pick up some Vitamins, she gave me a sample bottle of a product they now sell called ProJoe. This is a bottled latte drink you refrigerate and pour over ice. I had the Magnifico Mocha, but on the product list she gave me, it looks like it also comes in a vanilla or chai. If you roder it from them, THERE IS NEVER ANY SHIPPING on it. Even if you order it with other products, the entire order has free shipping. The price is case of 12 for 35.95, which may sound high, but 12 of the Starbuck's drinks still come to $39.00. An…

I just tried a tuna melt for the first time. Now I know folks put cheese on their fish all the time but, for the reason I could not wrap my head around putting cheese on my tuna, let alone heating it up. Well it was pretty good. Just wanted to share that. Oh and it didn't hurt that it was 20g of Protein (13 for the tuna & 7 for the cheese).
<img border="0" src="

I love milk. I could probably drink a half-gallon per day. So, even if you drink skim, which is what I like, that can add up to a lot of calories. It is tempting for me to have liquid milk sitting in the fridge. My solution? I started buying powdered milk. That way I can add some spoons to Protein shakes, sugar free hot cocoa, coffee, tea, etc. This solves my problem because I won't make a pitcher of powdered milk, I think it tastes terrible. Too watery. But, mixed into other things or used for cooking, it works well. It makes things a little creamier and more tolerable. I like it as a coffee creamer, especially because regular creamer, real or fake, it suppose t…

I'm 20 months out and figuring out that I'm not hitting the amount of protein on a snack that I would like to. I've been eating 3 small meals and 2 snacks a day, trying to average a min of 10 g protein each time. I am just curious what the avg amount of protein everyone shoots for in a snack that isn't a protein bar or a protein shake.

I love the bumble bee tuna chili spicy thai. I usually take it just on its own. I am 4 weeks post op and trying to avoid as much as possible carbs, my first thought was crackers but I realize those are so easy to take in and could become a slider food. So what do you take with your tuna? And if it is crackers which do you suggest?

Sooooo my doctor said I was on soft foods, which means I can have all sorts of foods like cheese, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, eggs,(omelette is my favorite!) but he also said I could have Melba toast, ground turkey, lunch meats and crispy toast. So confusing on the crispy stuff. I tried a bite of a plain turkey burger, chewed it untill it was basically nothing (because I'm still scared to eat stuff because of healing) but I loved it.... I'm just hoping I did nothing wrong. :/

Hey everybody! Has anyone found a yogurt that has less than 5g of sugar? I love Greek yogurt but it's just too much sugar (22g). I'm not dumping, but just want to follow the rules. I'm stuck in a rut with my losing and figured being super strict may do the trick. Thanks in advance for the answers!
