Not sure if you have these in the US, but I enjoy having Vita Weat lunch Slices for lunch, especially when at work. http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Content/ProductImages/big/705171.jpg Last week I had one of these with avocado, tuna and tomato. Any other suggestions on what I could top these with?

Last night 3 hours after dinner (2oz of salmon) I ate a frozen yogurt thinking I can have yogurt why not freeze it. Well I had the worst pain! I didn't have dumping or vomit but if would have helped me I wish I did! Then today for breakfast I ate a scrambled egg with cheese, and I realized I get so full with less than 2 oz of egg than I do with all 2 oz of salmon. I don't get it! Egg gets me sooo full. Can anyone relate to either?

I came back from walking craving something sweet and cold. Icecream??? You know dog on well we are not to be eating icecream. I have all this stuff left over from my pre and post op liquid diet phase.... So...I made a Protein packed sorbet or ice milk icecream. 2 cups of frozen strawberries (no sugar added), 2 cups of frozen mixed berries (no sugar added), 1 cup of lean strawberry Protein shake, 1 cup of purple Isopure protein Water, 6 envelopes of zero calorie sugar, and 1 cup of light and fit vanilla yogurt. I blended it all until the chunks were gone and not liquidfied. Any smooth frozen fruit can be used and anything can be substituted or omitted. This is just …

Hi there! So now I'm 4 weeks post op and I miss having oatmeal. prior to surgery I would take oatmeal at least 4 times a week. Kept me warm and full I know I can still have oatmeal but thats about 27gm of carbs! I'm trying to keep my carbs within 40gm/per day. How do you all handle this? Any substitues or do you still take oatmeal but limit carbs for the rest of the day? Plus how many grams of carbs are you trying to stay under per day? just curious. Thanks

My birthday is on the 10th of August and my kids really want to make me a cake for my birthday. I honestly am not really that interested but what do you say to your kids when they want to treat you on your birthday and are even asking what they can make that I will be able to eat. So I need some ideas on a simple cake that everyone will enjoy but I can eat a small piece without being sick or way too many calories. I don't want to tell them no, there must be a way I can let them do this without there being any real consequences. A treat for one day is doable I think. Thanks for your help.

Ok so I am 20 months post op and still scared to eat rice. My doctor really put the fear of rice into me and I haven't touched it. My dr told me it could expand my stomach and basically rip it open. I need to switch up some food and my husband wants rice (he isn't sleeved), but I refuse to make it so I'm not tempted to eat it. Is anyone else afraid of rice? Has anyone been able to eat it?

I am wondering if anybody here has experienced joint pain while using aspartame. I read several articals yesterday and there are reports both ways. People with joint pain that seem to get relief when aspartame is introduced into heir diet. And those with no history suddenly feeling pain after adding aspartame. I know many of us are using a lot of this because it is in most of our Water flavorings contain it.

I'm allowed to add 1oz fruit/veg after eating my 2oz protein now....I can't even eat the full 2 oz of meat so I am not being able to really add veggies yet (which I would prefer over meat right now)...will this eventually change and ill be able to hold more? Seems impossible right now...7 weeks post op.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have always loved spaghetti and thought it was a goner for me. the other night the family wanted spaghetti and so I opened a can of green beans and used them for noodles. It was great. The beans were firm enough to stand up to the sauce and not mushy like spaghetti squash. I strongly recommend trying it.

I was sleeved July 11. Tonight I ate at a restaurant for the first time. Sweet Tomatoes is a salad bar place if you don't have them your area. The first picture is what my friend ate. The second is my plate. In case you can't tell, there is chicken, cheese, pickles, beets, mandarin oranges, chick peas, edaname, and lettuce. I ate about half of it. I also had about a third of a cup of mac & cheese and one bite of a chocolate chip cookie. Other than paying the same as my friend, my meal was very satisfying. I though others would enjoy seeing what a real meal looks life post surgery.

As anyone tried breaded meats post op? I'm specifically talking about fish and seafood. I have some breaded shrimp that you bake NOT fry but I'm not sure how my post op body would deal with the breaded part. I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op.

So I didn't quite have the energy to make gumbo but I did make a seafood based meal. I got with one of my buddies who is an offshore fisherman (and vendor to the restaurant in Monterey) and got some beautiful salmon fillets. So I made Maple Salmon with homemade hoisin sauce, pan-seared asparagus with lemon aioli and the famous chicken rice (but no rice for me). What do you all think? Ok, aside from knowing that Protein helps heal, helps with lean muscle mass, and helps keep you full, does it actually help with losing weight? Like say you weren't a WLS patient and just wanted to lose some weight.. and started doing a liquid diet that didn't contain a whole lot of protein VS: one that did.

I'm getting tired of the same ol' Snacks and mini meals. I currently use Emily Bites recipes and eat a lot of yogurt, shaved meets, canned meats, cheeses, etc. Anyone have any new ideas for the salt lover in me? On the go ideas would be great too. I can only have nuts 1-2 times per week. Thank you in advance.

  23. I'm anticipating sleeve surgery in about 2 months and working towards being prepared for a proper diet. Because I spend much of my time on the move I'm trying to figure out ways to eat high protein meals in restaurants. I know that Chili's uses fresh ingredients and will cook a hamburger without a bun if you ask, etc. Any other thoughts on places to get quality, low-carb foods on the fly?

So now that I have mastered my Protein, calorie and Water goals I was wondering about sodium. How much is too much? What do you try to stay under? My diet consists of a lot of cheese and deli meats and I am finding that those have a ton of sodium! I can't really afford to buy non pre-packaged deli meat - I have a budget around 10 bucks a week for food. Anywho, what is your sodium limit?

I'm trying to find a place to buy some toddler or baby silverware. Does anyone know of a good place to look? I don't really want to buy plastic and all I can find in metal is like $20 for a spoon/fork/knife which I find is pretty spendy.

Anyone noticed that their tastes for certain things have changed??? I am 4 months post op...I used to love drinking water, now it is hard to choke it down without a bit of flavor, I have also tried a little peanut butter...yuck it has no peanut taste, all I can taste is the grease/fat in it.(not that it is a bad thing that I dont't like the taste anymore!) Also chicken tastes so plan and blah...maybe it is because I am losing the "thrill" feeling of food and am now eating for the nutrition. Not complaining, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
