Out of about ten I tried maybe 1 or 2 have a very mild after taste... they rest is just way to much and grosses me out. Anyone know of any flavors that have a mild to no after taste. out of all the ones I have tried the pink lemonaide has little to no after taste... all the rest do. thanks

Hi guys - I'm finally starting to feel back to myself after my surgery on 1/21/13. I want to get prepped for when I can actually start having 'real food', and I really want to have a good healthy balanced diet. I've been watching Food network's premiere of 'Worst cooks in america' tonight and I'm feeling more motivated. lol. Do you have a resource or cookbook in mind that has good recipes with smaller portions, that your younger children would also want to eat? I'd like to stay away from most of the processed stuff. I've never been a 'cream of' soup person, and i don't do canned meats or anything. I've had to re-program my brain to make myself drink the pre-made protei…

Hello, I'm new to the site and my surgery is scheduled for Feb 27th. I was wondering if anyone uses the nutri-bullet or anything. Like it. I know you can't use a lot of fruit because of dumping. Thanks, Kim

This is delicious. 1 cup Greek yogurt 2 tbsp Cajun or spicy mustard 2-4 tsp capers Dill 4 fish filets Lay out fish in 13x9 casserole dish. Sprinkle with dill to your liking. Mix yogurt, mustard, and capers. Spread over fish. Bake in oven on 350 for 14-18 minutes until flaky. I serve this over angel hair Pasta and with asparagus or broccoli. The veggies are delicious with the sauce that this creates.

I have 3 boxes of proti diet. Two grape, one orange. You mix it with water and it's a cool aid type drink. They are good for several more months. If anyone needs these, drop me a message. If you pay the postage, I'd be happy to send them your way. First come....

My doc wants me to switch off of whey protein for awhile. I know I have read a mention of soy and hemp. Are there others and which one would be best quality? Thanks for your help.

  11. Started by courtoomp,

Hi all. I a having a hard time finding a whey protein powder mix that doesn't make me gag. The two brads I tried (unjury and something from gnc) require so much powder that te texted of my food is completely ruined. Even a 1/4 scoop changed the taste and texture drastically. Any suggestions for a whey protein that require less powder for a lot of protein? Thanks so much!

So, have just been clearing out the baking cupboard in prep for my pre op diet, and beyond. I'm going to use this cupboard as my own, specific to my needs post surgery. Only problem is, it is currently bare. I have: A couple of tubs of protein shakes Some sugar free jelly Some healthy eating Thai chicken soup Some healthy eating Tuscan bean soup Um, that's it! Any recommendations for when I go grocery shopping? I'm having a gastric bypass, if that helps.

  13. Started by Josh H.,

So I have been craving apple juice for some reason post-surgery and I was unable to find any when I did my pre-shopping that was sugar free and 100% juice. What has everyone else been able to find and where did you find it? Much thanks!

I am so happy... my dad just came back from costco and he got the magic bullet for me, I had only mentioned it once that it would be great to have for my pureed food, shakes, etc, and he just got it for me, so thoughtful of him. So anyway, besides the many recipes that come along with the bullet, can anyone share useful recipes for post-op stages? I already used it for my dinner Protein shake, it is great!!! I am pre-op, scheduled for March 11... can't wait! So, recipes anyone? Thanks!

I'm telling you she wants me to od so she can have her way with me! Has anyone seen fatal attraction?!

I eat a lot of beef Jerky -- pretty much I have some every day; it's my go-to snack or meal stand-in when I don't have time to grab something else. We are fortunate to live near a good butcher shop that makes their own fresh jerky, and that's our standard, but sometimes we can't make it to the butcher and then I need to find a substitute. Most commercially packaged jerky is just nasty (I've tried almost all brands), so when I was in costco over the weekend and saw a new Kirkland Signature Extra Thick Cut Steak Strips jerky package, I decided to try it. It's fabulous -- made with nice chunks of top round steak and seasonings. It's moist and chewy and delish. And the p…

My doc requires only puréed protein for 2 weeks post op. He wants it to come primarily from natural sources, so not too many shakes. Just had beef and gravy baby food for lunch. Not too bad with a little salt. 8 grams of protein. Is anyone else using baby food?

I know everyone is different, but I would like to have an idea of how many carbs to shoot for each day. All I was told from my Dr. Was 60 - 70 grams of protein. Would just like to hear what you all were told, if anything. Thanks all!

I was sleeved September 2012. I have kept pretty close to my Nut suggestions for daily calories. However, since I do drink occasionally and also have had some "off" days, I have had a few days where I have eaten 2,000 calories. I was curious who else has strayed into the 2,000 area or even beyond. I can't be the only one! :-) For what it's worth, my NUT put me on 1,600 a day as of Jan 2013, up from 1200-1300. I also workout 5 days a week. Anyone else feel guilty at 2,000? Funny in that this would have been a good day in my old days lol

  27. Should I be able to drink 4oz of soup and feel satufied and not overly full? It seems like I am able to eat more than others my same timeline (week and a half out). I can drink lots of water without any bad feeling. I sip and not gulp but I can do sip after sip. Anyone have initial confusion with what the feeling was asking (hunger, full or thirsty)? I worry I am able to drink too much:0/ I just ate a cup of egg drop soup with no problem.

But it felt like it! Lunch today on preop was a huge bowl of ice cream! How? 10 oz of unsweetened almond milk, heaping scoop of ENS-Celebrate chocolate powder (ens has the multivitamin and calcium in it), a small splash of real vanilla, tiny bit of orange zest and 1 teas of Sobee SF chocolate syrup. I put it in my oster counter top ice cream maker! It was sooo good! Remember I am on preop and not post! I assume it would be too cold for postoperative

  30. Read about PB2 on this site first and then heard great things about it at an In person support group. It's powdered peanuts where the oil has been removed. You mix it with water to create the peanut butter. Most people add it to things like shakes. There are two types: straight-up peanut and peanut-chocolate. It was about $1.00 off with the King Soopers club card.

This is my first FAT TUESDAY w/o my beloved paczkis! It was so hard at work today - I'm a teacher - the classrooms were filled with the smell of paczkis. There were paczkis in the teachers' lounge, in the library, in the office. The students were all given them....raspberry, apple, strawberry and custard. I do believe I drooled. The only consolation is it may be called FAT Tuesday but I am 70 slimmer than last year!

So I had a meeting last night at a Mexican restaurant. Was very apprehensive about eating there in front of a crowd. I ended up ordering fajitas. Just kind of picked at the chicken and had a few bites of beans. Nobody even looked my way! Not sure why I was worried. The only downfall was that with a full plate of food in front of me, I couldn't resist kind of grazing during the whole meeting. I'm still not really sure how much I can eat at one time. Maybe it would have been smarter to ask for a box right away and just leave out what I think I should be eating, but still pretty happy about the experience.

I'm having some trouble trying to figure out what to eat the next two weeks. I have to start my two week preop diet. I'm having trouble trying to figure out what to eat for my protein. I eat eggs and cheese. I am used to eating with lentils, pastas, rices and potatoes all of which I can not have. Any ideas?

  50. Started by NtvTxn,

I've stumbled upon a new snack that is really good. I know that we were told to try and stick to things (food or drink) that is 10 or less of sugar. This qualifies. Quaker Chewy Peanut Butter chocolate Chip granola bars. (on the box it says 25% less sugar) 1 bar is: 100 calories 5 grams sugar 3 grams fat 2 grams of Protein It says 'Our Quaker Chewy Bars are made with 8 grams of whole grain rolled oats, rice & wheat' They're really good, not something I'd recommend for protein, but much less sugar than some of the choices out there.
