I did it! I found an alternative to PB2 that doesn't need to be shipped. If you love peanut butter like I do but hate the calories, give this powdered peanut butter a try. It's called Betty Lou's Just Good Stuff Organic Powdered Peanut Butter. Its sold at Hi Health and costs $7.99. A little bit more than PB2 from Bell Plantation but after you figure shipping cost it's comes out to about the same price. I just got this yesterday and I love it! Only 45 calories for 2 tbsp vs. 190 Calories for the regular stuff. I'm mixing it with my Unjury protein powder for my breakfast shake. It's sooo good! Just thought I'd share my great find with you all.

I had gefilte fish for the past two days (Passover). It is high protein but high sugar. But it is a viable food alternative post-op. If you enjoy the taste (some don't), it is worth a try. It can stay in the refrigerator and act as a fast food. No cooking, minimal preparation.

...I am a diet coke, I freely admit it. However, I had not had a single drop since March 3, three days before my sleeve. I got through the withdrawal & headaches. I haven't craved soda at all. I am not thirsty since my sleeve and luckily not hungry... Last week, I poured 2 or 4 oz of Diet Stewart's Rootbeer & allowed to melt into ice last week - tasted the same to me, but I didn't want any more of it to drink. I wasn't even craving it...just curiosity. It didn't make me sick or anything. ...tonight, I did the same with diet coke tonight...but it was horrible; it tasted like syrup..the way I remember a regular pepsi or coke would taste to me...I am in total sh…

Chances are you already know that you need fewer calories as you age. So it’s trickier to prevent weight gain without making some efforts. Mix together salad bag mix, sliced beets, crumbled goat cheese, diced walnuts and garlic chicken. Very yummy and full of flavor, especially the beet and goat cheese combo. You can buy the garlic chicken from costco in packs of 6 garlic chicken skewers. They naturally break apart into 3-4 chicken chucks per skewer, you can break them down further depending on desired size.

I'm a month post-op and I'm struggling to get in all of my Protein. I've tried every brand under the sun but I can't tolerate Protein shakes, protein shots, Protein Bars and yogert. I am in the on-going nutrtion phase. I eat eggs, cheese, fish, lactaid and turkey bacon (just one slice) to try to get in protein from foods. I have purchased natural Peanut Butter but I haven't tried it yet beause I'm afraid of the high fat. However, I feel that my fat intake is really high. Today was my first day in this phase I consumed 625 calories 24% carbs, 36% protein, and 40% fat. Any tips about how to get in protein without adding fat?

Another board has what are you eating threads almost everyday. I was thinking we could have the same thing here. I will try to keep up with mine. It might keep me clean about how good or bad I am doing with my Protein vs calories and such. Feel free to put yours down. You don't have to put calories and protein if you want, just what you have been eating. It might help newbies get an idea of what we eat after surgery. Newbies feel free to post what you eat too! Even if you are pre op it helps to see it up sometimes in making sure you are staying on track. You might want to note you are pre-op so people are not wondering about a large intake than a post op.

I have been seeing a therapist for food addiction for six months or so. I just decided to have the VSG. I am self pay so I do not have to wait the required time. I can schedule very quickly. My therapist has recommended I wait at least the 6 months normally required by insurance companies in order to really process my "feelings" about it all. I really don't want to wait. I was curious if anyone else is using any sort of counseling to help prevent crossover addictions and what y'alls thoughts are on the whole wait thing. ????

Pulled this from an unjury email What are the symptoms of insufficient protein ? 1. Fatigue and/or weakness. Not just the feeling that we didn’t get enough sleep last night, but deep fatigue...or weakness where it’s hard to get through the day. 2. Weight loss plateau. When we don’t get enough protein, medical research indicates that the body tries to store calories rather than burning them. 3. Hair loss. We believe it is often preventable with enough protein. 4. Surgical complications. Is there surgery in your future? For many, the answer is yes. The best single numerical predictor of how well a surgery will go is your protein status. And, your body will heal slow…

Ok, quick question for my fellow sleevers. Taking nutritional value out of the equation, shouldnt a gastric sleeve patient, when completely healed, be able to eat the same foods as before just less of it? I hear some people talk about food getting "hung". I think a lot of these people had the lapband. If i view our surgery correctly, everything works the same, just a smaller stomach. I know we all change our eating habits to get the most out of our surgery but i just wanted to know if i was correct in my thinking. Thanks again all!

My NUT told me today that he would be afraid to eat anything with seeds in it, like tomatoes. He said that because there is an incision site, he would be afraid the seeds would get stuck in there and become a massive problem. Is this a danger? Is there a time when you CAN start eating things with seeds again? I love tomatoes, I have an entire tomato garden growing quickly. I knew it would not be on the menu at first, but will it ever? Thanks!

One of the members here recommended Kirkland (Costco) turkey patties as a high Protein food. There are 35 grams of protein in one patty! After cooking, the patties weigh 4 ounces...which is a perfect portion for sleevers. Has anyone else tried them? Maybe I overcooked the turkey, but it was a little dry. Maybe I'll dip it in low-fat ranch next time... For 35 grams of protein, I'll be eating these often!
