. Will have the sleeve in April. I've read that after the sleeve it is much easier to get drunk with little alchohol. Is that too? Do you lose the taste for wine? Should I not have any when I go out to dinner? Thanks

There are somedays (like today) that the thought if eating makes me super nauceous. It isn't like this everyday, but the thought of food makes me sick. Even if I am a bit hungry I just can't make myself eat. Anyone else have an issue like this?

Ok... Had my first preop Dr. Apt yesterday and while I was happy that iv lost weight (10lbs in 2 weeks since surg) I'm not ecstatic about it. I expected more since I was on liquids for 2 solid weeks. My NUT and Dr said I probably would have lost more, but I'm not getting nearly enough calories in. So basically my body has shut down and is refusing to lose at a more rapid pace because I'm only able to get in 300-500 cal a day. AND to top it off, my doc said no gym until I get my caloric intake up. WTH So I guess my real question is, can anyone suggest high calorie meals that's aren't huge? NUT said it looks like I have a very tight sleeve, so it will be harder for me. …

WOW...new article on Internet today by SHAPE Diet Doctor Mike Roussell, phD about Protein & how much we need and can absor can absorb...Very interesting and informative! Is it true your body can only process so much protein at once? No, it is not true. I have always found the idea that your body can only "use" a certain amount of protein funny, as what happens when you go over that number? Does it pass through your system undigested? Protein and how much you need is a very misunderstood topic, most likely because we have traditionally looked at how much protein we need in our diets based on preventing a deficiency and not the optimal amount. If you are looking…

Grocery shopping has been a chore. It takes forever because I read labels...compare...read more labels lol. I was debating some kind of bread when I found these, "Flatout No Crust Flatbread". Says 100% whole wheat and low fat. One flatbread has 60 calories, 1g fat, 12g carbs, and 4g protein. They are big enough I can cut it in half and make a sandwich for 30 calories and 6 carbs. I got kinda excited. I'm thinking mini pizza too! I'm going to make me a sandwich for dinner and the real test is... the taste. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm set to have surgery in less than two weeks -- April 22nd. I find that I'm not at all worried about the actual surgery, but very anxious about changing my relationship to food. What if I miss it terribly? Will I be able to enjoy dining out with my husband? What will I do to Celebrate accomplishments and joys, or drown depression and sorrows, if I can't eat? Please tell me about your experiences. I need your wise words. Thank you. This is my first post, btw. I've been lurking for ages and have found this forum to be extremely helpful.

So I saw a recipe on Facebook for Mexican Pizzas. They looked amazing. So I went to the store and found low carb soft tortillas. They had 3 net carbs ea. I put refried Beans, taco meat and cheese on the tortillas and baked at 450 for 8 min. They were amazing!!! The best part was the tortilla got crunchy! There isn't much you can eat low carb that is crunchy! I will eventually try the cauliflower pizza crust, but for today...this was fan-freaking-tastic!!!

I am pre-op, in the early planning stages of surgery. I was wondering, in the first few weeks post-op, on liquids and pureed foods, do you feel hunger? (Actually hungry vs. the "head hungry/emotional hungry" that a lot of us are used to.) Once you're a few months out, does a cup of food actually make you feel full? Knowing your expereince would be really helpful for me. Thanks, Amy

I am now 8 weeks post op and my Nut has cleared me to eat pretty much anything. I am having a hard time with breakfast options. I am burnt out on grits & eggs and I don't like any of the other hot cereals (oatmeal, cream of wheat, malt o meal). Any good good options y'all have tried for breakfast???? Thanks!

I was sleeved on 12/28/12 and went through my one week of clear liquids, two weeks of full liquids, two weeks of soft proteins, and am now on my "new normal". I was wondering if anyone has had nuts post op? I love them but don't know if it will hurt my sleeve?

I'm on puree and really miss my veggies. Has anyone juiced on puree or stage 4? I feel constipated (sorry...tmi) and would rather make a nice juice with leafy greens and apple (I could add my unflavored protein to it- so healthy!) I just don't know if sleeve can tolerate such a high level of minerals at once since puree stage has canned veggies as preferred (besides corn and beans, what else tastes good from a can?)

Yes, you can actually eat there and not blow you post op eating plans. Look at their 550 calories or less menu. There are wonderful options full of taste from many different spices and flavor. There is enough to make 2-3 meals depending on post op time after DOS within the solids phase. Yummy!

I am 3 months post op. i kept a detailed food diary and thought it might be helpful if i posted exactly what i was eating at this stage. Hope it helps. Oh btw, Most of the time I mashed stuff up really well and did the chew, chew, chew routine. So mostly everything was either strained, mashed or ground up. Here it is in no particular order: Protein shakes, cream of wheat, greek yogurt, yogurt, frozen greek yogurt, milk, sf popsicles, sf pudding, sf Jello, Soups, mashed potatoes, applesauce, string cheese, salmon, chicken, a little canned fruit, avocados, eggs, bananas, oatmeal, and cottage cheese.

Anyone ever added malted milk to a Protein shake? It had 10g of sugar for 3tablespoons. I thought about adding 1 tablespoon to a chocolate shake to kick up the flavor. I have 2 bottle of it in my pantry. Hate to throw them out. Do they make a sugar-free kind? Hmmmm Jessica, SD 4-11-13 follow me on Twitter: and Instagram: @skinnyjess2013

I was sleeved 3 1/2 months ago and have lost 100 pounds. Reaching that mark has been very exciting! Here's the BUT part: I eat A LOT. I track everything I eat and my daily calories are between 700-800. But I eat a lot of stuff...low-calorie stuff, but what seems like a lot to me. My nutritionist said she was fine with what I eat because I am losing weight. Here's a typical day: Breakfast - no sugar added oatmeal (4 oz.) Snack - Quest Protein Bar Lunch - 4 oz. chicken salad (no fat may) w/ 5 small soy crisps Afternoon Snacks - 4 oz. cottage cheese; sugar-free Jello with sugar-free Cool Whip Dinner - chicken salad again Evening snack - sugar-free fudgsi…

I am 9 months out and was wondering if there is a chart or something out there that tells me exactly how many calories a day we should be eating. The nutritionist at my doctors office said 1300 to 1800 depending on activity level. I thought that kinda sounded like a lot. What are your thoughts and I would love to hear from people that are a year or two out and what they are eating! Thanks

So, hubby and I go to Wegmans for dinner. It's an upscale grocery store that has a second level for sitting down and eating. They have buffet with all types of food. I got one tiny red skin potato, bourbon chicken thigh, 4 little cubes of tofu, 2 cubes of some type of cheese, some asparagus tips, and a chicken wing drumstick. I ate about 4 pieces of the asparagus (they were about 2" in length and the thickness of a pencil), the cheese, the tofu and maybe 1/5 of the chicken thigh. After dinner we went to Home Depot before going home. Well, once we got home, I wasn't feeling hungry and got greedy for the piece of wing. I took about 3 little bites of it, started feeli…

I'm 4 months post-op as of yesterday! I want to stay away from starches, but I'm also completely sick of eating either fish or beans for dinner. So sick of both! Any ideas/recipes for dinner are very welcomed. I'm also wondering if anyone ate regular cereal around this time like honey bunches of oats because bran just seems too gross.

Anyone else having this issue after being sleeved??? I'm a month post op, and I have lost most of my desire to eat. Nothing tastes amazing to me after its been chewed to mush... I still can't tell if I'm ever hungry, or my stomach is just digesting... And I always seem to eat one bite too much, leaving me in discomfort after almost every meal. I do watch what I eat, I take small bites, chew until there is barely anything left, and eat slow... I guess I didn't anticipate on losing the passion for food... I mean, I knew that the obsession would dwindle, but I don't even enjoy it. Idk if this is a just a stage... Or something others experience... Idk... Maybe once I'm…

And by that I mean I have been going between 169-170 for the last month. Sw was 202, I'm 5'7, cw is 169-170.... I uped my excersize routine and feel good about it but would sure like to see it moving again... Can anyone tell me a typical day of food (easier the better). I would really appreciate it to avoid this disappointment creeping back in that a remember at about this time in my old dieting days. I drink a premier protein in the morning with vitamins, might have a boiled egg around 1030 after workout,, usually different spiced tuna or salmon with salad for lunch... A sensible dinner without carbs... I do snack on peanuts here and there... And I get all my water in wi…

Went to "dinner" with a friend last night. Had no idea what to order so I ordered but didn't eat. Just brought it home. That was no big deal. The part that was strange was how I felt. I am 30 days post op and I felt out of place. Like I shouldn't even have been there. Anyone else have strange notions like that?

I was sleeved 8/22/2012 and have lost 80 pounds since 8/1/2012. I was a very decent cook before my surgery. It's been almost 8 months, and my cooking sucks! It's like since I don't enjoy eating anymore, I no longer have creativity. I think my family may be getting tired of sautéed chicken breast, vegetables and potatoes. The only thing I can still cook is chicken and andouille gumbo, cause I didn't eat it before either, so the taste isn't a factor. I don't know what to do! I'm not even interested in relearning how to cook. And my nest has gotten more empty too. Only 1 full time child left, and it's 50/50 whether he eats at home! I'm a horrible wife and mother!

I don't like fruity yogurt and I'm trying to eat Greek to get the hit of extra Protein. So far I've tried Fage 0% Plain and Chobani 0% vanilla. I had to add Splenda to both and it was still awful. It's actually pretty good with fresh fruit but I'm also trying to find one I like with nothing added. Ideas?

Obviously we can not eat as much as presleeve. That's the point. But how do I avoid wasting food?? I'm on full liquids now, made cream of wheat for breakfast took 5 bites was full and the rest went in the trash. I feel like I could eat on 1 package for a week. I'm eating my mid-day snack right now (Greek light and fit yogurt) and I'm barely 1/4 thru and can feel the full sensation happening. I don't want to just throw it away. I feel like I'm wasting money. How can I save these things?? Or with the cream of wheat, how do I determine how much to make so that I'm not making the entire package???
