Second infection post sleeve. First one was a staph infection affecting upper back, neck and head. Very painful for 3-4 weeks late last year. This second one is prostatitis ( inflammation of the prostate). The doctor put me on a 6 week Cipro plan starting yesterday. Waiting for labs to come back indicating "real" issue. The biggest concern is that the bottle says to take 6 hours from last mineral and wait 2 hours before taking next mineral. The timing thing is what is killing me because I need to take this 2x a day. I take my minerals and Vitamins in the morning ( including iron) when I get up. Calcium chews an hour or two after that and the calcium chews again at lu…

OK, I am 9months post op, never an issue at all since being sleeved, I just HATE eating. It isn't enjoyable at all. In fact, it actually feels more like work now than anything. I eat slow, take small bites, watch what I eat. It just feels gross when I eat, and I can still feel my sleeve moving when digesting (tmi, sorry). Milk tears my stomach up now, but I can still have cheese and yogurt. Ya see, the issue is, I know I HAVE to eat, for health and nutrition, but I simply don't want to. My husband even mentioned that eating with me is depressing. He said I just look sad! Anyone else feel like this?

So I am about to be working the NASCAR event at Texas Motor Speedway and camping out for a week. I will be about 3.5 weeks out from surgery, so still kind of limited. It will just be me, so firing up a grill and stuff is pointless. Any suggestions on things to pack that are safe to eat at this point?

Anyone else having this issue after being sleeved??? I'm a month post op, and I have lost most of my desire to eat. Nothing tastes amazing to me after its been chewed to mush... I still can't tell if I'm ever hungry, or my stomach is just digesting... And I always seem to eat one bite too much, leaving me in discomfort after almost every meal. I do watch what I eat, I take small bites, chew until there is barely anything left, and eat slow... I guess I didn't anticipate on losing the passion for food... I mean, I knew that the obsession would dwindle, but I don't even enjoy it. Idk if this is a just a stage... Or something others experience... Idk... Maybe once I'm…

Does anyone know why raw honey is preferred over table sugar in foods such as protein bars? How different can they be processed as both are simple carbs right? From what I have read is that raw honey does not pump the insulin response like table sugar does. Give me the technical breakdown of the differences. I can take it. Lol.

I had my two week post op visit today and was given the okay to start soft foods like eggs, cheese, etc. I had a ton of questions to ask but totally forgot to ask when I can eat beans again. I will puree them if I need to. I am craving some black beans or refried beans. When was anyone else started on them??

So I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I'm having some food issues. Clearly my belly is not healed yet, so eating can still be very uncomfortable... despite that I'm still just on purees. My problem lies in what I'm eating. The only thing so far that I can get down without so much discomfort is mashed potatoes. Even though I can only eat 1/4 cup at a time, I'm afraid of not losing weight with this. Am I right to worry??? Should I just stick to liquids until my stomach can tolerate more???

What are your faves? I like tension tamer and I like the smooth move too. Lol I hated that black licorice/fennel flavor pre surgery but now I crave it. I DONT like the raspberry zinger or wild berry zinger. Too much zing I think. I may try it later, half strength. Renal teas are about the only way I'm getting zero calorie drinks right now, so I'd like to find other kinds I like. (Not that I'll drink them in the summer. Yuck)

It is 3 pieces of grilled mahi 2oz each and a bowl w cabbage, black beans and this really good mango salsa. It's so good. With out the rice it came to 459 calories and it lasted me three meals (lunch, snack and dinner). It's gonna be my new go-to if I have to eat out.

After yesterday, I'm definetly adding Ice Cream to my 'I will never eat again' list..This is along with chocolate and alcohol - which I stopped drinking about two years ago (being a diabetic, it just wasn't worth the suffering for me). I know, also being a diabetic, chocolate shouldn't have been in my 'diet' anyway.. nor ice cream for that matter, but yesterday I gave in and after not being able to down the turkey, I wanted to feel part of the meal and went for the ice cream... this morning I realised my error.. its just way too much of a slide food - should come with DANGER on the side for us sleevers.. Has anyone else made any major life decisions this Easter?

  38. Oh my goodness. I bought some turkey from wal-mart to make chili with. I thought it looked a little strange when I opened it, but turkey usually looks strange anyways. I went ahead and used it. Few hours later my boyfriend and I were both fighting over the bathroom. I totally feel like poo. What sucks too, is I was also trying to spend time with my 1 year old who didn't understand what was going on. (Because when my boyfriend is sick the world is ending, and is helpless) So I pose this kind of serious, but not really question. I was within 30 seconds of puking on my child. I don't know if that would make me a terrible or good mom. On the one hand, I held him a…

  40. I recently posted the following comments on another thread and thought they were useful enough to live stand alone in a new thread: If it is helpful, my NUT at Swedish hospital in Seattle (yay Britney) recommended eating like the induction phase on Atkins for the pre op diet. I did not have any trouble with that as lots of practice there over the years. The Atkins Induction phase is essentially a very low carb diet, no breads, starches, caffeine, etc. You eat proteins as much as possible with some low glycemic vegetables. The surgeon stated that I had a super healthy and small liver because of doing this type of eating pre op. Most people will end up losing 10 lb. a…
