It's been 4 weeks since I had the sleeve (3/18/13)...it seems like I've developed acid reflux and not able get all my water in. I'm not able to eat tuna it egg whites because they make me throw up. I can keep down salmon, oatmeal, mashed potatoes and certain soups. Does anyone have any ideas on what to eat? Or what I should do about my water intake? I've only lost 28lbs since my surgery...should I be discourged?

I know it's redundant, but I'm a little over a month out and nothing is good, but beyond that, nothing sets well with me. Not tuna, not chicken, not lunch meat and cheese. Beans do OK. I know, based on my wife's experiences as well as yalls, it will get better, but how frustrating to be able to finally eat again, and not be able to haha. Chobani no fat yogurt and beans it is. May cook some lentils when the pintos I have run out later in the week.

Every day/week/month there is an influx of posts raving about these amazing Protein shots and how awesome they are, you can chug 42g of protein in a second and it's all good, right? No, I'm afraid not. If you notice, many of the protein shot companies are no longer around. What does that mean you ask? Well, that means some supplement company or big box store bought a **** load of protein tubes for a freakishly low price, and are passing on the great savings to you for your health!! Actually no, bubble burster ahead. It means they're making a killing off of these because they cost nothing to make because they're all made with such a low quality of products. What …

I got my sleeve March 14th and I just started eating what my nutritionist calls "soft foods" (anything that can be mashed with a fork, I guess?) and after being on all liquids for so long, I've been giving myself a hard time about eating; like if I eat "normal" food again, I'll be right back where I was. I know that's not realistic but I still can't shake that "post-eating regret" Anyone else having dealt with this?

Hi everyone: I'm a 50 year old male, had my sleeve in October 2012 and have lost 85 pounds since. Very pleased. However in the last two days I am ravenous. I have no idea where this is coming from. I find myself eating granola bars, chicken, fruit, more granola bars -- like I never feel full and my head tells me to eat to stop being hungry. Has anyone else had a similar experience at 6 months? Thanks.

  10. 100 calories, 15 grams of Protein and only 1G of carbs. I get them at costco and my whole family loves them. They might be too much/too big for an early sleever, but for me in maintenance, it is a mainstay Breakfast item. a much better protein "bargain" than many other choices. My rule of thumb is that I want 10G protein per 100 calories at a mimimum, for a food to count as a good protein source.

Hello everyone, I am in big need of your help. I am not much of a cooker and I am having a hard time finding things to eat. I was sleeved on April 1, 2013. I am currently on soft food, I find myself eating tuna, chicken with cooked veggies, sardines, jello and Popsicles most of the time .. Oh I did make that ricotta back once (lasted all week). I am down 45 pounds (including pre-op) but the scale has not really moved since surgery. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Thanking you all in advance!!

I had surgery 4/9, I follow up with the doctor next week and hope to get approval for pureed stage. I have so many questions for those who have been through it already!!!! What kind of foods did people start out with? Did any foods cause problems and what kind? Did anyone have trouble with the texture of baby food verses solid food? When shopping what do you look at calories or carbs, sugars? Did anyone have issues with sugars, I didnt think you got the dumping syndrom with sleeve but it sounds like some poeple do?

Should You Eat High-Protein Products? I'm just under five months out and getting tired of chicken. I was out running errands with my family and ate a fish taco at Carl's Jr. It was so good. I dont eat bread of any kind yet so without the tortilla, it was 170 calories and 12 grams of Protein. For those early out, it could be two meals. I know there are many who are very strict and don're eat fast food ever, but for the rest of us- I recommend it. Just make sure to keep track of your calories.

  35. I hope this doesn't sound ignorant- but how does one count nutrition facts in home made food. I am asking this because I plan to make small batches of soup, blending it, and freezing it in small containers. Is it a matter of counting each ingredient? Is it reliable? I don't want to rely only on store bought stuff because its pricy and in my head homemade is healthier than store bought ??? Thanks for any replies.

The vegetable seems innocent enough and sports 9 grams of Fiber, 11 grams of Protein and a lot of Vitamins for a 1/2 cup. However, the same 1/2 cup also has 120 calories and 13 grams of carbs. Granted we are not going to be eating 1/2 cup, but that is a lot of calories for a green vegetables. They also tend to slide a bit so may cause a calorie surplus if you really love them. I happen to like them and had about 25-30 pods for lunch. Average was 3-4 lumps in a pod. What do you think: friend or foe?

I used to absolutely hate asparagus and I was in Aldi's and saw a big bag of it for a great price. I don't know what possessed me to buy it, but I did. I cooked it that night and discovered I love it now! I seriously can't get enough of it! I'm putting it in everything! To think, I used to live in West MI where I had a unlimited supply of fresh asparagus when it was in season and I hated it, lol! Have your tastes changed drastically since surgery? Is there anything that you now love or have an aversion to post op?
