I'm 9 days post op this morning. Yesterday I was cleared for full liquids and soft foods at the same time. I ate: yogurt with fruit on the bottom a scrambled egg with cheese premier Protein shake in chocolate a small piece of sharp cheddar cheese. This was over the course of about 9-10 hours. Right before bed, I started thinking I was such a pig. That I did too much, too fast. I didn't feel sick. It all went down fine. I feel fine this morning. So I took a step back at the big picture. What I ate was not bad. I did pretty good as far as choices, but I didn't meet my protein goal. So technically, I didn't do great, either. It just strikes me how I'm …

Hi! I have been struggling with my eating and I think it's partially due to lack of preparation and creativity with meal choices. Anyone have any low calorie high protein meal ideas that they can share? Maybe under 200 to 300 calories each. Thanks everyone!!

I get a headache and am severaly nauseous for most of the day. It does not matter what time of day I drink them either. Yesterday I was on te couch for several hours shaking with the chills. I keep trying them bc I know I need my 60 grams of protien a day. I'm calling dr. First thing Monday. Anyone eve heard of this ? I'm frustrated.

There is a lot of talk on here about Protein, about carbs and about calories. What I don't see very often is talk about fats. Not the stuff we are trying to shift from our butts and guts, but the good stuff the MUFAs, monounsaturated fatty acids. Cold Water fish, seeds, nuts, avocados, dark chocolate, olives.... Great stuff! Calorie heavy but very, very good for our health and our weight loss, they enhance heart health, protect against chronic disease, and, wonderfully, they target abdominal fat. Do people here track their intake? Are NUTs recommending people ensure to keep their MUFA intake up? I sometimes suspect when I see how few calories some people are consumi…

Okay. Im a little unnerved that i keep seeing people here going right nack to the same eating style that got us into fat camp in the first place. The gastric sleeve is a blessing and we should treat it that way. Why go through all of this if we just keep eating the trash we were eating before??? Being skinny now doesnt make us immune to health issues. We can still develop hypertension, diabetes, and hypercholesteremia! Dont live to eat, eat to live. food should no longer be our reward nor focus. Just eat whats necessary and dont push the envelope. American values has us programmed into thinking food is for fun. Its not, its simply fuel for us to do things that…

When first getting the surgery, people told me my palette would change. However, being almost 5 months post op, my appetite has switched back into full gear and I'm having the weirdest craving.. Watermelon and Funyons, together, have become a favorite of mines. I use to love the 2 prior to surgery, but now when i see watermelon, i immediately want the funyuns with them and vice versa. Not only does it taste like everything i ever wanted in life, but it also goes down with no problem and i feel satisfied. Anything else i eat, aside from shakes and water, i can get 2.5 bites in and im done. With the funyuns, i can eat an entire (small) bad and about 1/2 a cup of watermelon.…

Ok I need help. I was sleeved 4/30/13 and I'm on puréed foods. I find it so hard to get all my nutrients in. I was in the hospital for dehydration Thursday. Today I had less than 300 calories. I'm trying to eat the 5 small meals in my diet plan, the 2 calcium tablets, 3 multivitamins and the 40-60 grams of protein shakes. It's too much for my small tummy. Getting in my water is hard too. I need help and advice. I eat a little and stay full for hours. I don't want to end up like the other people sick with malnutrition. The tingling sensation I had from my diabetes returned today. I was taken off my metformin and my blood sugar was fine the 1st week of surgery. I'm worrying…

I just had a grilled chicken cool wrap from Chick Fila for lunch. Anyone had one of these postop yet? I am 18 weeks post op today. The entire wrap is 330 calories, and they cut it in half. I could eat almost 3/4 of one half. So 165 calories and a good bit of protein. Very filling. I'm glad I found this!

Got some of these, they come in Orange, Grape, and Fruit Punch flavors. They are VERY tart (mixing in with some Water makes it less so) but are not terrible. They have 25g Protein, 0g fat, 0g carbs with a PDCAAS score of 100. I don't believe you can find them in any store, but they can be ordered at Bariatric Advantage (https://www1.bariatr...og/group/77102/) I'll be ordering more of these for Post-Op!

Then you might enjoy this delish recipe. Mix chicken cubes with coconut curry in a small skillet for a few minutes on high and, viola, instant chicken coconut curry for 1 or 2. It is very quick to make and is so savory, like eating in a fine Indian Bistro. Trader Joe carries a good coconut curry in a large container, good for 8-10 of these dishes. Enjoy!

I am going to be asking my surgeon in two weeks. But I just wanted to get an idea. I was anemic before surgery and on supplemental iron pills. Since surgery I have been taking a multi vitamin with iron plus 600 mg liquid daily. My latest blood work shows not anemic but still low iron. I was just wondering when I may be able to go off the liquid and take pills instead. The liquid tastes terrible and makes me gag, not to mention my insurance doesn't cover it and it is $59 a month.

I had a cup of milk this morning at 8. I'm feeling very full. My blood sugar feels like it's getting low, but I can't even sip water right now. Also feels as if I could vomit. Didn't feel like this an hour ago. Has this happen to anyone. By the way I'm on solid food.

Saw this video and I thought it seemed very interesting. Don't think I agree with 100% of it, but it does have a lot of truth in it. I wasn't sure whether to post it in "Nutrition" or in "Fitness/Exercise" since it relates to both, but the real topic is nutrition, so I went with posting it here. Like I've heard told before, "typically the longer a food lasts, the worse it is for you". I'm not sure what that says about our Protein powder that has quite a shelf life on it, but makes a lot of sense. Being able to afford all fresh and organic food is another matter........

Today is my 6 week post op mark. I have lost around 29 pounds but have gained 4 of that back. I think I have lost that same 4 pounds about 5 times already. I am feeling very frustrated and as much as I hate to say it, I regret having the surgery. I feel exhausted all the time, I can't get enough fluids in me so I tend to stay a little dehydrated, and regardless of what I eat every time I eat my stomach hurts. Has anyone else experienced this? Will it ever get better? Will I ever not regret having the surgery?

I have changed a ton of my eating habits but I am not a health nut. I choose low calorie alternatives...instead of a candy bar I will have a protein bar, fat free milk vs 2% ect... I still eat the same meals as I did before but instead of 4 pieces of pizza I have about 3/4 of a thin crust piece or a full plate of meat and potatoes vs 1/2 cup of it that I usually don't finish. Today at work we had ice cream bars & I had one I'm my hand a few people said to me you can't eat that! I ate about 1/2 of it and my high protein chili for lunch. I rarely eat over 1000 calories and always hit my protein and water goals. I am 2.5 months out and have lost 44 lbs+.

Now that I have my surgery date I am really trying to plan. So here are my questions for you all. Please keep in mind that I DON'T eat meat. What are some good mushy foods that are high in Protein. (Other then eggs) Or during this phase should I just plan on my only source of protein being eggs and shakes? Solids: Same question with a slight variation. No meat, high protein, low carbs, low fat and cal. If I don't have the details planned out at first I will eat anything. Once I understand what I can and can't eat from experience, it will all become much easier. Thanks for any help and ideas you can give me!

Ok all you post op closet coffee drinkers (myself included): you loved coffee as a pre op and you still love it as a post op. There is no shame in declaring your love of the bean. After a largely successful drink poll thread this last week ( still active), I think a 2nd slightly less controversial poll is in order. What are your favorite ways to drink your daily or weekly coffee? How often do you like to have coffee? I will go first. At 10 months post op, there are a few ways I like to drink coffee: Daily: 1 cup of standard coffee with a tbsp of coconut creamer and two Splenda or 1 Cappuccino with NF frothed milk and 2 Splenda. Made with my nifty SB verismo ma…

I was wondering if anyone that has the sleeve juices or makes smoothies with the ninja or nutri bullet. I am almost a month post op and I juiced prior to lose my required weight for surgery. Do you know how soon I can start juicing and drinking smoothies? I felt so much energy and also the nutrition benefit. It helped me to lose 20 lbs pre op. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I'm craving Sashimi. (Since I can't have Sushi). I'm curious to know if it was hard to digest for the sleeve. I'm transitioning to soft foods after the puréed stage. I am assuming that you guys waited until you were released to a regular diet before trying. Also curious to know how many pieces you were able to eat. Thanks!
