I am in Phoenix,AZ for a conference. This morning I had a golf outing, but made sure to be drinking water and Gatorade non-stop. Now all of a sudden I feel really blah. I am worried I may be dehydrated, and trying to get some more Gatorade in. I am just curious if any AZ people out there can share some tips on staying hydrated in such a brutally dry climate. Because what ever I am doing it obviously not working!

I was sleeved on 1/21. I have completely lost my taste for food. Nothing really tastes like it did before. The only thing I am enjoying right now is beef Jerky, which is great for the Protein but does have a lot of sodium. Food looks good, but when I eat it, no satisfaction at all. And that includes all types of foods, meat, vegetables, fruits and sweets. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

My sleeve surgery is scheduled for June 27 and I have a road trip to DC (about 5 hours from me) scheduled for Thursday, July 11 through Monday, July 14 for a convention. How have you all handled vacations ad road trips post-surgery and how did you pack food? What foods travel well? What fast food options are available for me? There's also a breakfast scheduled for Monday that I have to pay $25 to attend. Uhhhh!! I already KNOW I won't be able to eat all of the food on the menu and I don't want to explain anything to any of the folks in attendance. Tips? Advice?

I guess I could talk to my nut about this but is the nutritional value in greek yogurt better than regular? Suppose that both kinds are fat free and sugar free what is the difference? Plain greek yogurt (without fresh fruit) makes me wanna gag so I have stayed away from it. It also wasnt until recently that it was a big deal.

Love Siggi's yogurt. It is Icelandic yogurt, high Protein, tart taste, great flavors. They also have a line of filmjolk, which is like a cross between yogurt & buttermilk. I won't have my surgery for a couple of months, but I am trying to educate myself. Could someone look at the nutritional values of these products & tell me if they would be ok & the whys and wherefores? Many thanks. http://skyr.com/filmjolk.html

I'm only suppose to have 2-3oz per meal. My nutritionist gave me a 2oz cup at my appointment and I also have a scale. However is it the same portion if I weight it versus putting it in a 2oz cup?

Is there a rule or guideline on how much unflavored Protein you can put into something without changing the taste or consistency ? Example, I had about a 1/2 cup of yogurt after my dinner. I thought about adding protein to see how it tastes (I'm pre-op) but I chickened out. I'd be interested in hearing your powder to liquid ratios. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using VST

Before VSG, I enjoyed the Mandaran chicken salad. I have not been back to Wendy's in a very long time (over a year), except to have a cup of chili from time to time. Today, I decided to try their berry salad. Sorry, no picture. I got an error when trying to upload about file permissions. The good part of this salad is that the dressing only has 50 calories, but is yummy raspberry balsamic vinegar. You might like this as a post op if you can manage salads ok.

I just placed an order for the Opt-men as a new vita pak to try. Previously, I have been on GNC Extreme Athlete vita pak for many months and do enjoy it. However, I want to try something new and many reviews say the Optimen are better then the GNC sport/athlete line of vita paks. I also have a short stint with Animal Pak, but stopped taking them after 2 days because of some negative side effects. I may come back to them again later as I have almost a full container left, but not now. Have any of you experience with Opti-men, especially if you are fairly active. I want to know how these will help me with Cross fit and general lifting or running. Thanks for your feedback.

I have been on liquids since 2 weeks before surgery and this week as well but honestly I don't think I can anymore so sick of the protein shakes and stuff. Now I'm kind of trying out puree soft foods but not following her orders. I felt like I could so I'm trying it out is that bad ? The nut have me a paper saying to do 2 weeks liq. After surgery 2 weeks puree and 2 weeks soft food. I've read so many different diets from others some have soft food right few days after surgery! Do you guys think it's bad that I'm doing this? I've been strict with sugar and carb intake and still doing protein shakes. Lost 25 from surgery date (may 23)

Ok, feeling kind of corny I decided to take my usual favored water (in this case, pink lemonade Dasani ) and mix in 2 tbsp of vanilla bean coffee mate creamer and 2 tsp of Splenda. It is pretty tasty flavor and sort of like an Italian soda I suppose. You don't have to agree!! Thought I would share my adventures in mixology this afternoon as Friday slides into the weekend...

Okay let me first clarify that I do NOT intend to eat these foods after surgery (and really not even leading up to surgery) but it helps for my cravings to think about food. I'm very passionate about food. My moms been a cook at a steakhouse since before I was born so needless to say we were raised as cooks. The bad news is, my mom raised us on comfort food. Yes she serves fresh veggies and fruits (like dessert in our home) but she was big on stick to your ribs, make you fat food. I love to cook and I love to eat. When I travel somewhere new my way of learning the areas traditions or cultures, is by eating. Obviously that's how I got to 320 lbs, and I know I can't live th…

Is lobster or seafood bisque okay in the full liquid stage? I checked the nutrition label, sugar is low but so protein. A one cup serving, which I couldn't eat, has 280 calories - 200 from fat alone. I'm wondering if this a big dumping risk, or possibly a gallbladder attack risk?

I am interested in getting some samples of Muscle Milks Samples. I am currently using Muscle MIlk Chocolate flavored and love it. It is the best tasting to me. I have heard great things about Muscle Milks Lite Cake Batter and other flavors but being that they are so expensive would hate to buy a container and not like. Does anybody know where I can get samples?

Just wanted to ask what flavor of crystal light is least irritating for early post op. I prefer lemonade or pink lemonade but not sure if it would irritate the sleeve (although it probably doesn't contain actual lemons).

Hi all. Someone who is 2 years post op gave me this tip that I thought was pretty cool, so I thought I'd share it. She said that when you go eat out and get a to go box for a later meal, DO NOT reheat the protein. Protein apparently changes as it is reheated, and it can become too hard to chew or digest. She said it would get stuck for her a bunch and cause a lot of pain. It was something I hadn't thought about...I was actually looking forward to having leftovers. :-)

I gave up caffeine last Monday in preparation for surgery in 3 weeks. OOOO boy I didn't realize you could have withdrawls from caffeine! I am mostly over the headaches but I really miss the taste of iced tea. I drink..make that drank it non sweetened with lemon. I have my pre-op class on Wednesday so I guess I should be patient and wait until then..but I'm not patient so I thought I'd ask on forum. Do you drink decaf tea after surgery ? If so .. or not...why and does it count as hydration since there is no caffeine in it ????
