I am 17 days post op, down 19lbs, and today is the first day I have hit my protein goals (56-61gm a day)! It is also the first day I have gotten through all of my vitamins!! I was having severe nausea and vomiting with my multivitamin. I am so happy I had this procedure, and even happier that I was able to finally hit my protein and vitamin goals today! It will only help with weightless and staying healthy as I go through this dramatic weight loss! Lets hope I can keep it up!

I am almost 7 months post-op & I think I might have developed a problem with dairy. I've only noticed over the past couple of weeks. I am a vegetarian so I use dairy a lot towards my protein. I eat A LOT of cheese sticks. I haven't needed the antacids that they give you post-surgery for months. I use almond milk in my coffee and smoothies. I don't think that it is an acid problem as I have no upset with coffee, tomato sauce, oranges, etc. I had 2 string cheeses for lunch & I have been in horrible pain for the past couple of hours...acid reflux up to my throat, a lot of burping & gas. (Gross, I know. Sorry.) I'm just wondering if anyone else has developed probl…

I'm so lost! Feeling a bit "dumb" at this point. Surgery was May 28th. 25 pounds down so far YEAH! HOWEVER, solid foods can begin July 1st for me (per Dr.) I guess I thought we could eat "normal food" just a lot smaller portions and of course keeping proteins and calories and Sat fats in mind. I have bought 3 cook books for "Life after Surgery" and I see that using different spices and fat free sour cream, almond milk etc is what I will do but I'm I missing something? Are we to aim at ALL sugar free Fat free etc??? and what heck cheese(s) falls into that category? What about pasta? I went blind reading all the boxes in the pasta aisle. More than ready to leave the all liq…

I have found so many great Bariatric-friendly recipes recently, but they always make SO MANY servings - especially when I am still only eating a third of a cup at a time. So a few weeks ago, I decided to try getting a vacuum sealer so I could freeze meals in individual portions and take them out only as I want them. I did a great deal of research online, and asking friends about them (some people i know have them). I finally made my decision yesterday on a brand, model, and accessories I wanted. Went to Walmart and picked up my first Foodsaver. Let me just say - LOVE IT! I made a Bariatric-friendly Spinach Casserole (high protein) last night in individual muffin cup…

I normally don't like posts like this bc it implies everyone should be able to eat the same amount as if we aren't all unique, but I'm a little concerned.... I was able to eat an entire large Wendy's chili today with two packs of crackers (over about half an hour). And I don't feel sick or stuffed. Is this crazy or just one of those days where I am able to eat a bit more for whatever reason (PMS, worked out really hard, skipped breakfast)? I am 5 mo out. Thanks for any thoughts.

OK so surgery at 430lbs (highest preweight was 475) on 4/15/13. I've lost 45lb in the first 45 days. Lately I'm wondering if regular food is worth the effort. Does anyone else struggle with going through the process of preparing a meal only to find you eat 3 bites and can't stand the sight of left overs? Not to mention if I don't eat slowly enough then bleh and no WAY I'm eating any more of it? I'd rather just do protein shakes/bars (and I do have the occasional chicken "nugget" from KFC). I want to make sure I'm growing my healthy habits but I just get frustrated at making food only to throw it away. Anyone have healthier choices that don't require a lot of prep?

Ok, I know we are supposed to be eating ONLY protien shakes and sugar free liquids but really my new stomach doesn't seem to like the "sweet" shake options. I eat chicken broth but am bored and want something more substantial. Like cottage cheese or something. I know its only 5 days out but what can I have besides the protien shakes?! Yogurt?! Anything?!? I'm dying here.... any help or ideas would be fantastic. Thanks!

I wanted to see if anyone had this during their pureed stage. As it is one of my all-time favorite foods and is pureed, I am hoping that I can eat it. Liver has a TON of Protein and adding hard boiled eggs adds even more, but liver has a lot of cholesterol (my levels are fine)... I will ask my NUT and see what she says, but I wanted to see what y'all had to say.

... that you know will have you hovering over a toilet (sitting and/or standing) for the evening if you eat any of it. Happy Father's Day to all you dads and single moms out there! If you love Enchiladas, I just made a 5 pound pan of them and it's only my husband and father eating them tonight. They smell so darn good and I know the consequences of even thinking about it.

I've pasted some really interesting articles on times of digestion. Not endorsing any of these whatsoever in terms of reliability. Just some interesting info. Article 1) The Stomach The food passes from the esophagus into the stomach through an opening called the cardiac orifice. As soon as food enters the stomach, a hormone called gastrin is released into the bloodstream. This hormone is carried to the gastric glands in the stomach, which causes them to secrete digestive juices. These gastric juices help in the chemical digestion of the food, while the rhythmic contractions of the stomach contribute to the mechanical process of digestion. These juices contain prima…

Ok so after my surg visit since we were in Pensacola I stopped by The Vitamin Shoppe. I bought a variety of quest bars and some other things they had. I got quest from some folks on here and thought id try them. I had been checking out amazon and was gonna order online a box but I got a few diff type and it was actually a better bargain than ordering from amazon and the shipping. Just thought I'd let u guys know. I was shocked how many varieties of protein things they has there and also just walls and walls over every kinda powder I could ever dream of. Ok..just my silly musings..yes country girl went to town so to speak

I am four weeks post op as of today! The first two weeks were pretty horrible. I had a lap band attempt that could not be completed and long story short, a week later I got the sleeve. They had to reopen three of the original wounds so healing took awhile and the pain was pretty bad. The third week was better and now I feel pretty good :-) My concern is this. I passed the liquid stage and the pureed stage with no cheating! Now I'm onto the- for 2 weeks eat real food but take it easy stage- yaaaay! Problem..I find that I can eat almost everything without feeling badly. I think I can eat too much. In fact I know I'm eating too much..it's more than I expected and wanted :-…

My chocolate "shake" was a Premier protein shake. My Chipotle was 8 black beans, 1 teaspoon of cheese and MAYBE a tablespoon of barbacoa from my daughter's bowl. My buffalo chicken was 1oz of of shredded rotisserie chicken dipped in wing sauce. My cheese wheel was a babybel light. I have officially hit 47 grams of protein today (highest ever since surgery) and I am so stinking proud of myself. I am 350 calories which is more than more days, too, and it's only 3:15pm. I sent my tummy a calendar and it seems as though it looked at it and said, "HEY!! Let's feast today!!". Now, I should probably get some water in, huh?

I'm trying to find some water flavoring powder/liquid whatever that uses sucralose or stevia. So far the only sugar free stuff I've found have been in super expensive little squirt bottles or individual serving packets. I want something that is good and comes in bulk so I can make gallons of the stuff at a time. Anyone know of anything?

First of all, I apologize if this question has already been answered ... And would appreciate links if they are available. I'm five weeks out and can only consume about 2 to 3 ounces of food at one time. I feel full and am scared to eat more because I don't want to throw up or stretch my tummy. I am at about 500-600 calories. So is this my normal? Will it always be this way? And is it ok if I skip meals at times because I'm too too full from liquids? For example yesterday I only had lunch (3 soft meatballs with a little tomato sauce) and the same for dinner. Any suggestions would be good. I've heard I will stall or go into starvation mode- but that's all that I can do!!!

So I'm 8 days post op and mostly content with ready to drink protein shakes, and assorted liquids. Once in awhile I get kind of antsy for a more flavorful concoction. Well I had to have something the other day so we threw some sirloin burger soup and milk in the blender and liquefied it. Man was that good. So tonight we tried something else. I threw leftover tater tot casserole in the blender with cream of mushroom soup and milk. Wow...it tasted like tater tot casserole but liquid. I never knew how much I would enjoy something so simple that much.

What's a good way to deal with meals at restaurants which are of course way too big to eat. I am going to be dining out with people who don't know of my op and I don't want to tell them. The problem is that I will be sitting there with a massive plate of food-even entree size is too big and not eating much. Has anyone got any advice? Should I ring the restaurant and see what they can offer, see if they can do a soup for example, or???

I was well aware that your tastes change post op and for some everything tastes sweeter. . Well I am part of that some...I have to plug my nose to drink my protein drinks. But i am having trouble with clear liquid varieties. I have tried it all: different flavored crystal lights, mio flavoring, dasani flavoring, flavored water, isopure protein water (never again), diet iced teas, zero calorie vitamin water and gatorade etc. Everything tastes too sweet to me and I even tried watering down everything. ..anyone with this problem have any suggestions about what else to try?...I'm frankly getting sick of plain water. Also when does this period of eeverything tasting so sweet e…
