  6. As my surgery date draws near, I find myself questioning the wisdom of having the majority of a major organ removed. Have I really become this desperate for a change? The more I think about it the more bizarre it seems. The fact that the sleeve is considered a "newer" WLS really makes me nervous about the long term. Everyone thought the band was amazing years ago and now it seems there are widespread issues with it.

  12. I honestly think some of the after pics look worse. I hope I end up looking better after but if not at least I'll be healthier!

Came to the thread expecting knee jerk reactions from closed minded anti religion bigots, was not disappointed.

  24. I think I will be honest about it and tell whoever asks about it. It may be they are asking because they are looking for help for themselves or another. Lying about it or keeping it secret makes it seem like it is something to be ashamed of. I do not believe it is.
  25. You were right, that guy is a tool.
  26. I had similar issues with my PCP. I told her I wanted a referral to the surgeon and she told me I should just eat a lot of giant salads to lose weight, in addition to trying to scare me off with horror stories...wth? I called my insurer the same day and got a new PCP.
  27. My previous PCP was the same way. She tried to scare me off with stories of how she had patients who had WLS and now have brain damage or something because of vitamin deficiencies. I called my insurer the same day and got a new PCP.
  28. I'm just waiting to see my surgeon for the first appointment still. Feels like it is dragging on forever.
  29. Check this out for more info: http://scoobysworkshop.com/expectations/ also a great site about fitness in general.
  30. It is extremely unlikely and probably impossible that you have gained any way near 6 lb of muscle in so short a time. Probably a small portion of the weight is muscle and the rest water.
