Hello everyone that is or will be on the same journey I have chosen. As most people here I have struggled with my weight since I was little. I've always either been the "big teddy bear" or the "fat kid". Neither honestly ever bothered me because I feel that I am so much harder on myself as other people are towards me. I looked into surgery about 3 years ago with a friend who was looking to get it done. Since then I have been researching it and looking into the different types of surgeries. I feel the sleeve was the best for me because I have a pretty bad case of Crohns disease and the less the complications the better. I didn't want the band because I didn't want the foreign body to be inside for the rest of my life. The sleeve just worked for me. I had gone to a seminar about 8 months ago and was "freaked out" by the presentation. I have been in the medical field for about 17 years as a Advanced EMT, phlebotomist, EKG tech, and Phlebotomist. There were quite a few questions that I had that were not answered that I was assuming that the doctor's physicians assistant should have been able to answer. I was about to give up when I was referred to my current doctor. I did the webinar and phone conference with him and was extremely impressed with his knowledge and confidence so I decided to follow up with a visit. I am still impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the thoughfulness when I arrive at the office for my pre-op visits. I look forward to seeing how this goes and a bit nervous but I assume it would be un natural to not be nervous. I just keep thinking about wearing pants and seeing my waist and belt rather than my stomach covering everything up. At the time of writing this my paperwork is complete and sent off to the insurance for final review and I go for my pre op diet and nutrition class tomorrow. Can't wait :)
