FINALLY of 4 months having two bumps in the road preventing me to get approved to finally getting the call Thursday from my surgeons office telling me to call them back to schedule surgery and my insurance approved me! They first gave me the date of July 8 but I had to get an AUGUST date due to work schedule for the next 2 months! I been in the process since Dec. 5 (consult day) I am so excited, after I got the call i called my mom, sister, and grandparents with the news with tears in my eyes. All day that day I was so emotional wanting to scream to cry of happiness. I can not wait for my new journey in getting healthy. Family have asked me if I’m excite…

  4. I'm just curious if there are any other Chemical Plant operators (or any other plant position) here working shift work who've gone through the sleeve and how your experience has been. With such a labor intensive job I am sure that recovery will be different than that of people with desk jobs or less labor intensive jobs. Im an Operator and My Husband is an I&E Tech, we will both be sleeved 7/9/19 and are planning to take off about 4 weeks due to the lifting restriction.

I'll be 8 months out on Monday and I still have what I call "big pouch days" and "little pouch days". On a big pouch days, I have to watch my calories because my pouch seems to be able to physically accommodate more food than normal. Today I am having a "little pouch day" where I have pre-logged all my food for the day and I'm at 630 calories. I can't imagine what the heck else I'm going to eat because I've felt "full" all day long. Getting in all the foods to meet my 630 will be a challenge. An occasional low day won't kill me (and I'm still meeting my protein goals) but I wonder why this happens and if anyone else experiences it. It also makes me wonder if I…

Has anyone else had this experience? I’m two weeks post op and have noticed what I guess is my own smell of ketosis which is really icky but omg. I was in the grocery today and passed a guy in the produce department and nearly threw up. He reeked of something so offensive I thought I would gag. Then a woman with perfume on. Then today, my son breathed on me after he had spaghetti and I almost threw up. That’s the smell that nearly made me crazy in the store. It was garlic. But it was beyond gross. Like the strongest most rancid smell I’ve ever smelled. And the other day my MIL smelled like rancid onion. After several incidents, i don’t think it’s these people as much as i…

Hello everyone. So I started the process back in March, and I have my last insurance mandated appointment with my surgeon August 1st. The time has flown by faster than I thought it would, and it's really starting to sink in. If all goes well and my surgery is approved, I'm looking to be sleeved early to mid September. I know it's normal to be anxious before any type of surgery, but I'm feeling completely consumed by fear. I'm afraid not only of the recovery, but I'm also afraid I may regret the surgery all together. Any words of comfort and/or wisdom would be more than appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Hello Everyone! Ok, so I'm 3 weeks post op (surgery was on May 27th) and seem to have hit the 3 week stall a bit earlier. The scale has barely moved during the last week, plus I got back to work last Monday and it's harder to tackle old habits and anxiety here. I've handled it quite well and stuck to my nutritionist's guidelines, though it's VERY hard to eat more than 30 grams of protein at lunch and dinner. She recommended 60 grams on those meals, but since I wasn't able to do it I should add an egg white during the afternoon to get a good protein intake. I'm also having a hard time understanding my body. One bite over capacity and I'll be rushing to the bath…

Hello all...i am feeling better these days .Down 42 lbs since surgery on 3/18/19. I had some stomach swelling on the right side of my stomach along the front that should have gone down after surgery but now since im slimming down the bulge is more pronounced. It doesn't hurt just looks like a large fatty know. I know this was the side where they cut through the muscle but i thought it would be healing more by now. When i pinch it or push on it it just feels like a large amount of subcutaneous fat that has collected in this one spot. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what did you do shrink this area?

Hello all So the last time i posted i was having anxiety about the blood work and quitting smoking. So far i have been smoke free for 3 weeks and I had the pre op testing done on friday. They said the results would be in the same day and I havent heard anything... Well that was friday but I'm going to remain positive and get through this week as calmly as possible. Oh did i mention my surgey is scheduled for next Wednesday the 26th?? Anyway im required to do a liquid diet with popsicles and boiled eggs being the only solids i can eat until surgery.. Wish me luck with that one since boiled eggs give me heart burn?

Hey Everyone! So pre-surgery I had 3 pregnancies with little complications. I was 365 @ the time. My current husband and I want to have a baby, however I've gotten pregnant twice and miscarried both times. Has anyone else had any issues with miscarriage post sleeve? I've been told that its usually the opposite.

  19. Prior to my surgery, I had to attend one general informational session, one support group, one psychological assessment, got clearances from a heart doctor, a pulmonologist, and my PCP, and attended a 3-hour seminar on what to eat during each phase of the process. I started my pre-op diet on May 15, and follow the diet to a "T" -- twelve days of the following (no more, no less): 1 cup low-fat soup (cream or tomato) 1 cup veggies (carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, or iceberg lettuce), with optional 1-2 tbsp fat-free dressing ½ cup of each of the following: sugar-free pudding, sugar-free applesauce, fat-free yogurt, and oatmeal. 3 protein shakes …

I am so excited, nervous, and a little scared all in one. I finally have insurance that cover bariatric surgery and I didn’t waste no time applying. I had my first consultation June12 and I only have a 90 day process. I have to see a nutritionist 3 times and the surgeon visit count as one so I only I have to do 2 classes and psych evaluation plus an ekg. I’m so excited I was expecting 6months or longer. The surgeon will do the Sleeve and later down the road he’ll do a bypass. What is the nutrition class like?

Hey guys I'm scheduled for a sleeve 6/24. I'm 5 days into pre op diet and it has been rough, but going ok. It has given me confidence because I'm eating so little right now and feeling ok. I could use some help with work meals. I am frequently in situations where i meet clients, co workers, etc... for lunch, or for drinks. How do you guys handle this? Not necessarily during pre/post op stage, but more from a sustainable/ long term angle Thanks

I found this on ole faithfull Google. It is about drinking hot water, warm or cold.Drinking hot water helps to break down food faster thandrinking cold or warm water. It reduces the risk of constipation by supporting regular bowel movements. The warm water helps detox and cold water helps you body durning hot weather to get your body to the right temperature. I heard water in general will help start your metabolism. I think I may need to use the hot water, if it will help post-op constipation. I don't like nothing but cold unless the water is from a coffee pot. Coffee does count for water doesn't it? Lol! Thought I would share.

I'm grateful for living and can't wait to see how my life continues to change as I continue to lose. The only thing that concerns me is working out while on the liquid diet. I am in the gym 1 hour per day 6 days per week. I am getting about 105g of protein per day. Obviously, this "memorial diet" isn't required so I'm not going to risk my health for it, but it just feels like somet…

I'm 1 year 2 months post op and have lost 115lbs which is awesome. I have more energy and can do more things with my daughter, I'm in clothing sizes I have never worn! I should be the happiest I've ever been, but I have a mindset I feel is holding me back. This may seem ungrateful, but I'm ANGRY I'm treated differently now that I've lost weight. It's like I was invisible (or worse- gross) when I weighed 286 but now people notice me just because of what I look like and it PISSES ME OFF.I was all the things that make me ME before I lost weight and now it's like a revelation that I'm worthwhile somehow. Okay so I’m asking to see if anybody else is/has experienced what I’m going through. As of today I’m 17 weeks post op and I’ve done wonderfully so far. Didn’t have any adverse reactions and it’s been fairly smooth sailing. Then about 3-4 weeks ago, my skin has become SUPER DUPER itchy and small bumps keep breaking out all over my arms, legs, and torso. Just had my 3 month labs done and everything seems to be just fine. I haven’t tried any new foods and all my meds are the same. Normally I would think maybe the new bariatric supplements are to blame, but I’ve been taking those since the week of surgery and they didn’t bother me before. I’m practically bath…

  44. I had surgery January 9th, 2019 and to date have lost a total of 138.4 lbs. It's really been an amazing transformation for me both physically and mentally. In hindsight, there have been no real negatives post-surgery, except for my most recent issue. I'm almost 6 months post-surgery, and I'm still having a really hard time eating enough food. Every time I eat, I have this really bad 'stuck' feeling, which I know can happen. I've slowed down my consumption, I don't drink liquids, etc...Basically, I'm doing everything I should be doing, but I quickly get full and/or nauseous and feel that way for about an hour after I eat. 45. Hi all! I had my surgery on 6/4. Leading up to it the nutritionist told me the pain would be similar to my breast reduction that I’d had many years ago. Well- the pain when I woke up from surgery was truly the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. I had horrible nausea, but the chest/gas pains were the worst. Wow! Every day has been better and I’m up and walking and not needing my pain meds except to sleep. The nutritionist also told me I wouldn’t be hungry after the surgery. Wrong! I’m on full liquids but I’m dreaming of scrambled eggs and rotisserie chicken. I was hoping I’d have no appetite. Anyway, why do some people do full liquid for a month and some for two weeks? Jus…
