Heyyyy everyone! Today is my surgery day. I am currently in the pre-op waiting area. Got my IV in and took pain medication. Waiting for my drugs and then off to the operating table. A little nervous but I'm sooooo ready!!!! Let's do this

I had the Sleeve in 2015. I have been having issues with acid reflux and muscle cramping in my stomach. I was working on each issue separately but I decided to get an upper GI because I have been considering converting to the bypass to fix the reflux. When they did the GI they saw something they didn't recognize. It looks like a half deflated balloon above my stomach. It could be the thing that is coming out of stomach and causing my pain. Does anyone know what this could be? Fixing my reflux may now be on the back burner.

Does anyone know how an incomplete staple line on a sleeve is fixed if it has created a pouch and acid reflux. Thanks

Hi I'm a new born sleever 6 days old. And I was wondering if Anyone has experienced the pain of a horse stomping on your chest? It's like a gas bubble (burp) is stuck.. n it hurts like crazy? My phase one diet is still the same.. water, popsicles, jello, broth, protein water...I'm on day 6 so I'm confused...

  5. Although I do not have an exact date just, I know I am going to have surgery towards the end of May or beginning of June 2019. I have been having appointments since the beginning of this year, but I still have not found the right way in which I should tell my Supervisor that I need the time off for surgery? I did not want to say specifically that it is bariatric surgery/weight loss surgery though. I don't feel ashamed by having this surgery, its just that, to me, this is so personal and I do not feel comfortable with telling anyone at work what I am going to have done. Does anyone have any tips on how I can word it or has anyone been in this same situation? Also, apart of…

  6. GM all, I had my sleeve surgery April 9th and Im also new to this community. I feel like I'm at a stall and it's freaking me out because I'm not eating badly, nor am I getting the recommended amount of water in. I get very sick when i take the multivitamin so I've held off until i see my doc on Wednesday. I also try to get at least 70 to 80gms of protein everyday. what am I doing wrong here not to be losing anymore? I wouldn't want to have gone through this to fail.

I’m about 2.5 weeks post op and think I have a stricture. A week before, I could eat a bit of egg or yogurt, take my necessary medication without issue. About 6 days ago, I started vomiting up everything after I tried to eat, it immediately came back up. I now struggle with even liquids and by the end of day, I have the foamies that roll out of me My surgeon is going to do a another scope on Monday to see what’s going on, and possibly an upper GI. My question is, has this happened to you? Have you had a positive outcome? I had the gastric sleeve, not really interested in a modification of surgery Am I in for a long road to recovery and relapse of a stricture. I am …

The last couple days have been a struggle for me. I haven’t been getting all my protein in because foods just make me nauseous and I can’t consume my vitamins without vomiting. My urine is getting darker, despite the fact that’s I really try to get 60-80oz of water a day. Money will make two weeks post-op, I'm really struggling here, I hope I can turn this rough patch around. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Oftentimes, people don't post when things are going well, but I thought I would chime in with my good experiences for those still researching. Today I am 8 weeks post surgery and weighed in this morning at 199.5, a number I haven't seen on the scale in more than 27 years. I've lost about 31.5 pounds since day of surgery and I think 84.5 since I began the 6 month supervised diet with my surgeon. I feel GREAT! I wouldn't say I have tons of energy, but I do have more than the early weeks after surgery. I go to the gym each morning and workout for 60 minutes, which has been helpful both physically and mentally. I haven't had any complications per se, other than constipation, …

  11. It’s been 5 months since my surgery, and I am constantly nauseous... I never really get anything up, it’s usually dry heaving... what can I do to help this? Drinking is hard for me, usually makes me super nauseous...

Anyone else grossed out by the taste of these things? My surgery date is May 9th. I started the liquid diet on April 28th. I have not cheated, although I would like a calzone. I’m drinking 3 premier protein shakes, 2 Greek yogurts and all the broth and sugar free popsicles I want. These shakes are just grody. The chocolate tasted like dirt masked by artificial sweetener. The vanilla tastes like vanilla with a strong vitamin after tasted. The banana tastes like the bubble gum ice cream baskin Robbins used to sell back in the early 80’s. I’m totally disappointed in the strawberries and cream. I was hoping it would resemble a McDonald’s strawberry shake.... not eve…

Hello all, I am curious, I am diabetic and will have my Sleeve surgery on April 25th. I am wondering how the surgery effected those that are diabetic. Were you able to get off of medication/insulin? if so, how long did it take for you to not need any meds?

Hi everyone. I was sleeved on May 1, 2019. I came home on May 3, 2019 because of my blood pressure. Now that I'm home I realize I cant get comfortable at all.. my stomach on the right side hurts so bad. I have been sleeping on the sofa and still cant get comfortable. Tonight I tried sleeping in my bed and it was the worst decision i had made. I'm in so much pain. I cant sleep on my side at all. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been like this. I'm frustrated.

Some pain when I moved around especially when trying to sleep but it was bearable. Still on liquids for another day which I am so done with. Been watering down the Isopure protein drinks cause I just dont like them straight up. I feel great and so so far no issues

Do you think the patches are enough, or are the pills stronger and still should be taken? the patches can be costly but its a month supply of about $23 each pack. Is anyone else using them and what are your experiences with them? Sally

I was sleeved May 1,2019. I also had to have a hiatal hernia repair as well. Arrived at the hospital at 7:30. Went back to surgery around 9:30. Home by 3. The first 48 hours were pretty rough. The gas was trapped in my neck, shoulders, shoulder blades and chest. I’m better now. Just very sore. Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and checked on me. You guys are the best. By the way, I was sleeved at St Vincent’s East in Birmingham,Alabama by Dr.Long at Birmingham Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Hello. I'm post VSG as of 2015. 130 lbs down. My recent labs came back with High A, High Copper, and low Vit E. Has anyone had higher lab work then expected post VSG & what did you do to tweak it? My surgeon doesn't want me to back off on my vitamins, but I'm scared I'm going to ruin my liver.

I just went to my first seminar on Friday and have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. What type of questions should I ask? Also I don’t know where to start here at the forums. I have so many questions about the post op diet plans. I’m not worried about the pre diet plans, I’m interested in knowing about the solid diet food plan afterwards. I want to know what I’ll be eating. Wondering how much weight I will lose, I’m 255, was 331 two years ago. I just survived a major surgery last year for a ruptured colon and was septic. I had a colostomy bag for 4 months then had a resection done, so I’m not worried about the actual surgery as I went to hell and back. E…

Hi all im 4 weeks post op and have lost 19kg since I started the pre op diet to today. The small amounts of food I can cope with. I ve found that I need to eat every hour and a half otherwise I get terrible growling hunger pangs. Which I found out ais acid. I ve started taking gaviscon after meals and it does seem to have made a difference. However now I have two different problems. One is a stitch in my side which I ve had for three days. The second is my toilet ting has tailed off. Liquids is very weak flow and just a trickle, whilst solids I haven’t been in a week. I also find I’m getting very bloated by the afternoon. I had the sleeve done 4/23, I'm still on liquid diet. I'm so confused, because i hear about the "honeymoon period" where you're not hungry at all, and this hasn't been my experience AT ALL!!! I feel like im starving. Also, in the last few days, liquid has been going down so much easier! Too easy?!? I can drink 8-10 oz of broth in one short sitting. Am i stretching out my pouch already? And I do not have trouble at all meeting my water goals. I put mio (calorie free flavor) in my water, and i can drink it just fine! I mean not CHUG IT, but i can do a decent gulp without it hurting my stomach like it did in the first few days. Is this bad?!? I don't see my surgeon again u…

  29. Hi, everyone! I've been lurking for a while. After 20 years of doing EVERYTHING I can think of to lose weight and ALWAYS gaining it back, I went to discuss weight loss surgery this morning. I am moving ahead with a gastric sleeve. My doctor is getting me started with all the bloodwork, endoscopy, etc. I need to do. I am scared but I am ready and tired of living this way. Just wanted to say hi and ask for some encouragement!

  30. So I started on soft foods... and ever since I have been so nauseous like morning sickness lasting all day. TMI after 3 months finally got my period. My body just feels terrible overall feeling weak, so emotional, and tired. I am trying to be active but when I walk and such my heart starts to race like crazy. Idk if it is just me everyone I know seems to be doing fine post-surgery, but I've been struggling bad. I don't even care about losing weight at this point I just want to feel better. Even drinking Water is hard, its like I am regressing rather than progressing. anyone else experience this?

  31. Started by jellygirl,

I am 6 weeks postop from gastric sleeve. I am on a regular diet. I can't seem to get in enough liquids throughout the day. I am having to force myself to drink when I'm not thirsty and when I still feel full from eating (maybe an hour after eating). I hate doing that because I know it's going to flush the food out too quickly. Does it get easier to drink? I know they say that your protein shakes/milk count towards liquid, but honestly my body needs straight up water to feel hydrated. And when I don't drink enough I sleep like crap. Most days I struggle to get in 48 oz.

Hey everyone. I am five years postop from a gastric sleeve procedure. My starting weight was 310 pounds I got down to 170 and looked great in my eyes. I have gone the absolute wrong way! I have gained like half the weight back. I am it 235 lbs. I am so upset and I don’t know what to do. My stomach has definitely stretched and I feel like I can eat like I used to. I went back to see if I could get the procedure again and they said it’s not possible and actually dangerous. What can I do? I am so upset I felt so good about myself when I lost the weight. Now I am back to obese. Has anyone else experienced this and was able to lose? What did you do? Please help!

So, I've developed gout from the high protein diet. The provider came to my home and diagnosed me. She prescribed me prednisone because my toe is all swollen. Took half a pill at noon and dinner bs was 228. My foot feels way better, but I have neuropathy and now my feet are burning. To take the steroids or stop? I think stop. I can deal with the pain and try and eat a low purine diet. Anyone else deal with these things due to surgery?

I had my sleeve surgery on April 26, 2019. Today is the 30th. Everything has been great since surgery except for one thing!! Periodically I have spasms/cramps in my stomach. It's not my incisions but inside. They only happen for a few seconds and then they go away. Sometimes they come back every few minutes. And other times it will be a few hours. Why do I feel these pains? They are getting really annoying!! Any advice would be awesome!

For those yet to have the surgery, good luck and maybe my post op report below can help shed some light on my process.... everyone is different but this is how it has been so far. Surgery day: Was told the day before that my surgery was at 3:15 in the afternoon... GRRRRR. I wanted the 7am slot that got assigned to someone else. The reason for this is I was told anyone with insulin diabetes will always go first. Makes sense because they can't have their shot before surgery. Also for the approval for the surgery do they wait until all six nutritional visits are done and then submit it to insurance or do they do it before hand ? My surgery was on April 23 and I am feeling great (compared to what I expected). I had lap band done in 2009 and did great with it....until I didn't (it slipped). I decided to have a revision to the sleeve. My husband has been very supportive throughout the whole process. Tonight while I was talking post op diet with him, he kind of "confessed" that he was worried that we were not going to enjoy our nights-out ever again. Our kids are leaving the nest and we were enjoying our date nights and trying different restaurants around town. I think he was enjoying the feeling of DATING AGAIN! lol! So to help ease his mind, can I get someone to weigh in on what it will look like…

I had my 6 month follow up today and everything is great, had a couple questions and got a couple answers, etc. But then... I asked for my goal weight at my next (9 month) appointment. It was only 9 pounds from where I stand today. I was very (unpleasantly) surprised. Now, I acknowledge that I'm a few pounds ahead of the goal curve, but to see that the loss was going to slow SO dramatically that I should only expect to lose 9 pounds in 3 months... that was a punch to the gut. The momentum I've built these last 6 months means everything to me. I'm not mentally ready to let it go. It's been bothering me all day.
