Hi all, I'm exactly one week post-op and yesterday I had my first follow-up and got my staples removed. I was told at the doctor's office that sometimes people experience an increase in abdominal pain after they get their staples out, because they start to move more freely and pull at the incision sites a bit more. So far I haven't had any trouble at all with abdominal pain since I got the staples out, but I have had very noticeable lower back pain that I never experienced at any point after surgery up til now. Is this common as well when people are just starting to increase their mobility more? I'm thinking it's just common muscle ache from not having stretche…

So I hadn't lost weight much weight in 2-3 months had been upsetting bc I was only 5 months out. I decided Monday I'm doing a reset. 3 days clear liquids. 4 days full liquids. 1 week soft foods. (this is my own plan not doctor) I am happy with the reset so far! I was 187 and day 3 I'm 183. I am getting full again and noticing a difference. I feel like I did in my 2nd month. I'm happier and more optimistic about the weight loss. I'm almost to goal 170lb I'm so excited!!! I also found walmart had their own brand of SMART with electrolytes. I love it!!! Im curious how does everyone do their reset? Was it successful? Did it kick your metabolism back into gear?

Surgery was on 5/13/2019 and came home yesterday from the hospital. Dr. said everything went well and no issues at all.. As soon as I came home I drank a big gulp of G2 not thinking of the ramifications of gulping. We'll I know the ramification now, straight to the sink and it is not very delightful to throw up with 85% of your stomach gone. So I got it now. Overall, feeling good but still some pain and still have some gas to get out. Popsicles, Premier Protein, Broth, G2 (slowly), and jello for the next 10days til I see my surgeon on 5/23/2019 to hopefully move on to Phase 2. But, let me tell you guy something, this ain't no joke pain wise when u wake up in recove…

I'm two days into my 1 week liquid diet, but I'm having a lot of trouble. I'm allergic to every artificial sweetener and replacement in the market, it seems, so anything with sucrolose, glucose powder and syrup, aspartame, etc, I can't have. No sugar free anything, no 'lite' things, heck I can't even have any of the ready to go protein drinks or standard flavored powders. I also can't do stevia because of a nasty ragweed allergy, which we discovered last month (the fall out wasn't fun). Is anyone else here in the same boat and has had successful surgery? How did you manage your liver shrink diet?

Hello, wls comrades. Five years ago today, I entered Onederland after a VSG Dec. 2013. HW: 271. SW: 257.2. Lowest weight: 180.8 (1/23/17). I wanted to get to 175, but my face was getting so thin and I was looking older/wrinkled. My Onederland weight was "197.8" and I smiled so broadly!! Alas, today, I weigh 206...ten pounds heavier than that day, and 27 pounds above my lowest weight. Grrrrrr. I am bummed, as I'm having a hard time getting back under control. I'm mad at myself. Just saying. I'm considering having a re-do...a second VSG later this year...because I don't want to be in that fight again. I'll see how I do between now and July. Keep me in your thought…

Hello, I'm still in pre-op with a bmi of 54, aged 48, no co-morbidities. I met with the surgeon yesterday and he said that people that have the bypass have better long term results and suggested that to me rather than the sleeve which is what I was originally set upon. He did say that folks still have good results on the sleeve but not as good as the bypass. He said he would do the sleeve on me as well if I wanted. I was pretty much set on the sleeve for the slightly lower risk factors, and the vitamin absorption issues. Anyone have a similar experience?

I'm still at the undecided stage. One of the things that is making me hesitant is that I'm afraid with such an incredibly low calorie daily intake, I won't have energy to work or do anything else. That is based on my experience with the Dr. Bernstein diet (ketosis diet). I was so hungry all the time I couldn't even sleep let alone think straight. They said once a person is in ketosis there would be no hunger, but that was not my experience. I don't want to go through that again!

Today begins week 3 of my stall. I spent the last 4 days actively eating above my typical calories and carbs and moving less in an attempt to break the stall. It didn't work. I'm going back to moving more and eating my 650 to 800 calories per day and praying that this is, in fact, a stall and not maintenance already. I "embraced the stall" for the first two weeks. I'm having a really rough time with this and I'm sad and scared because a 3 week stall sounds a lot like maintenance to me. I have 35 pounds to goal (healthy BMI) and I don't want to be right back where I was 6 months ago, unable to lose no matter what.

I had VSG on 5/7/19. So I am almost one week post op. All I had heard before I decided to get the surgery and all the way up to my surgery date was how you will never be hungry. Idk what these people are talking about because I have been hungry since I woke up from surgery! It has definitely been rough the past week. Anyone else have this struggle? ?

Hey y'all! I'll be 2 years post-op in July and I've fallen off the wagon. I never experienced the huge weight loss that I saw many people here experience, and I had a lot of life stressors that quickly made me run back to bad habits. I don't blame the sleeve at all - it's only a tool after all, and it can only work miracles if I allow it to. In fact, even without the extreme weight loss it's probably been the best decision I've ever made for myself. I've been able to maintain an 55lb loss, and the sleeve keeps my eating mostly in check, but that's not enough for me. I didn't go through months of pain and suffering only to lose 2 pants sizes and one shirt size. …

I've been using Bio-Oil on my surgical incisions ever since they healed at 3 weeks and now at 90-days post-op they're really starting to fade nicely. They're a dull pink and the top one is almost invisible as well as the two smaller lowest ones, with the two in the middle, the largest ones, still the most visible. I believe that they'll be gone within another six months. How are your incision scars doing? Are you using anything on them? How long did it take for them to fade away completely?

Had VSG, Gallbladder Removal and Hiatal Hernia Repair 05.10.19. One night in the hospital. Amazed at how little surgical pain there is for me. Most pain was from the gas, which seemed to accumulate in my shoulder blades, but getting better each day. Able to drink more today too. Other than being weary, can't really complain!

I'm wondering if I should put my surgery weight or pre-op weight. I lost an unbelievable 16 pounds that week. If I add my week pre-op it shows I'm ahead of schedule. If I don't it shows I'm normal. My weight loss has slowed way down and I'm losing max 2 pounds a week. I thought I would lose 100 in 6 months, but I doubt it now. So easy to get discouraged even having lost quite a bit.

Hi, all! Thanks for being so kind and encouraging on my first post about beginning the process. Out of all the many things that I hate about being overweight is excessive sweating is the worst. I work in PR and event planning. One of my favorite things to do is to get my hair blown out. The more weight I've gained the more pointless blowouts are. I sweat it all out. I sweat all the time in really awful places. Under my boobs, my paunch and between my thighs. My face gets so red people ask if I am sunburned. Did anyone have this problem before surgery? Has anyone had any relief?

So I started back working after 6 weeks off. I'm so glad I'm back at work, anyways I am not able to eat much still. My weight loss is at a stall because of it I think. Not sure if that is the cause of my hair coming out also. I'm going to the gym still. But I think I get about 600 to 800 max daily. Any suggestions?? Please help.

If there was to be a Class Action lawsuit against lap band and related companies, would you join it? My surgeon really believes its going to be yanked off for the market because as a medical device its failure rate is extremly high with high rate of complications that are way outside the margin of accepted standards for the FDA. I'm not sure I would though. I'm not the suing type.

Hi! Today I reached a milestone. I've lost 50 pounds, which I have never done in my life. I once lost 30, but gained it back plus eventually 50 more. I'm going to buy myself a waterproof Fitbit. I started wearing one 3 weeks ago that my husband got me for Christmas, as he knew I wanted one for after surgery. He got me the Alta, but it's not waterproof. Also, I'm interested in buying a scale that measures body fat. I have no idea how they work or the first thing to look for. Any tips are welcome. Thank you!
